BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
Hondo Carpenter of Spartan Nation was on the Schick and Nick Show this morning on 1620. One topic he touched on was that Kirk Cousins grew up a Husker fan. He tried approaching the Callahan staff but was rebuffed in part because he wasn't being recruited by any one. Even after he got his offer from Michigan State Carpenter claims that Cousins would have dropped them in a second if an offer came from Nebraska. While it wouldn't have saved Callahan he could have been in the cupboard when the Pelini regime started. Oh cruel fate!! Quote Link to comment

I gave up trying to understand anything Callahan did a long time ago! 6 Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
It's irrelevant now 4-5 years later. I also remember Joe Daily and Harrison Beck both being labeled as program saviors before they even took a snap. I know it's interesting to look back on these kind of things, but it's so hard to tell at that time. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
That is really too bad. Mistake by the Callahan staff I guess, but you gotta make your own evaluations and can't just offer everybody who grew up a fan. Cousins was part of the 2008 recruiting class and was a 3-star pro-style prospect (which ultimately wouldn't have done much good here, or would it?). That year we were chasing after Blaine Gabbert, whom we got in the summer, and who supposedly, after finding out that Watson was being retained, would have come back on board in a second if we had let him. Who knows though, those Gabberts... How's that for "could have been in the cupboard"! Of course, then we would not have had such a satisfying humiliation of him at Suh's hands. So it all worked out. HuskerFowler
What could have been zoogies. Could you imagine Gabbertt in Watsons offense Watson would still be here (not that i want him here) and we would probably have 2 big 12 champs under our belt. Not to mention the recuits that would have came from being relevant in BCS bowls. 1 Quote Link to comment

Suppose Sam Keller does not not injured late in the year and we had Joe Ganz as a redshirt senior in 2009? Quote Link to comment
