Comish
Frank will bring in a seasoned team coming off a bowl win and the expectation to win the MAC. There will be a ton of attention on Penn State. New coach, new schemes, pieced together personnel groupings; and a years worth of pent up rage. This will likely be the best PSU team for the next 4 years and it will be fueled by angst and anger. So, does all of the drama and national attention Help or Hurt Frank and Ohio’s chances? And who wins the game?? Quote Link to comment
NUance
If Frank's Bobcats beat the Natty Lions I predict Bill O'Brien's tenure as HC won't be nearly as long as Joe Paterno. By almost half a century. Quote Link to comment
Comish
Somewhat surprised that this thread garnered so little feedback when originally posted. (given the PSU story AND the Frank connection) Now that it's come to fruition, was the outcome more a function of Ohio being really a pretty good team? Or the ramifications of the PSU distractions along with a new coach, schemes, etc.? One thing for certain, if PSU doesn't take care of business in the next couple of weeks, the future of this program for the foreseeable future is really in jeopardy (given that this should be the best season of the next 4) Quote Link to comment
Flood
PSU is down, no doubt, but this win was predictable, in my mind. New everything at PSU, all that offseason drama, and a huge buildup to this game for fans and players alike. That, coupled with Solich turning a historical doormat into MAC contenders, makes it a competitive game. The Ohio team has been solid in the MAC for a few years, and they are likely to win a championship this year. Solich turned them around bigtime. I think his NU experience foreshadowed this rising Bobcat team. Still can't believe we fired the guy after 10-2. Seemed shortsighted then and still does now. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
I didn't get to watch much of the game but I thought the announcers made a pretty accurate assessment: So much emotion before and early in the game that Penn St. just didn't have anything left for the second half. That being said, I think Ohio will be solid and Penn St. not very good. Quote Link to comment
RedDenver
PSU might have lost even if Paterno was still on the sidelines. PSU was pretty suspect last year. Quote Link to comment
