Project Oscar, the $16.8 million, 80,000-square-foot office and retail complex south of the new Pinnacle Bank Arena, will be white and glassy.

The designs for the building, released Friday, will be reviewed Thursday by the Historic Preservation Commission to make certain they are in line with the vision of the new development west of the historic Haymarket.

A tenant, rumored to be a local architecture firm, will make the building its corporate headquarters.

The plans qualify for tax increment financing and will also need approval from the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission and City Council.

General plans call for a four-story building, about 65 feet high, with first-floor retail and office space on the top three floors. Construction likely would begin later this year.

Not a great design for a building if the renditions are close to being true.

To bad! I don't want the Haymarket to turn into downtown Omaha.

Agreed. If you want to build in the Haymarket you should have to make the outside of the building look vintage like the old building in the Haymarket (brick, worn, etc). It just would give a much better feel and fit in with the old building in the area.

I totally agree, but u this is becoming a "thing". Sad because there is tons of potential in that area

You would think an architecture firm could come up with something a little more exciting.
