husker rob
just read this on omaha.com, Jackson will be playing reciever. what does everyone think about this? with his speed and how he played as a running back in HS i see a flanker type position for him. do we dare to dream about another Johnny Rogers???? seriously i see it as a good fit Quote Link to comment
DaveH
I think it's great he will finally see the field in some capacity other than special teams. But, will Gilmore really feel comfortable enough with him at WR to get him into the rotation for the Alamo bowl given the timeframe? Quote Link to comment
HuskerFaithful
I would bet we see him in on a couple of plays, but I think this is more of a next year move. They are implementing it now since they have the extra practice time for the bowl. Should be fun to watch though. We needed to get him on the field more. Quote Link to comment
TheKiD
Unless he shows something really good at WR in the next few weeks, there's no way he's going to be playing WR in the bowl. He needs the off-season to learn the plays, get used to playing the position, etc.. If he does show a little bit though, they may put him in to a few plays, but certainly not very many. We're not like in an urgent situation at WR.. we have Peterson, Swift, Nunn, Hardy, not to mention Ross and Lucky out of the backfield. I think he can be effective though given some time to develop at the position. However.. at 6'2" he's not exactly the type of receiver we're looking for.. we're more tryin' to get the 6'3-6'5 range. So, unless he shows some good talent there in the offseason, we may be lookin at him moving somewhere else.. again. Quote Link to comment
Red Snow Sword: Husker Sentinel
I hope he finds a position someday. His versitlity is great, but, I thik he needs some solidarity, too. Whereever he can have the most success, practical success..... I'm sure that's how BC is taking it. That's how I would..... Quote Link to comment
husker rob
from the story inthe OWH he has been used on the scout team during the practice before a game as a reciever to help get the defense ready. as for his size, which one of all of our recievers is bigger then 6-2 210lbs? if he has hands and can catch the ball he will be a very good player. i predict he plays in the Alamo bowl on some reverse type plays. the paper also said that he wants to be a woodsen type player and play both ways. we'll have to wait and see. If you noticed, I said that's not the size we're looking for... sure he fits right in with the receivers we have now.. but in 2-3 years.. not so much. Quote Link to comment
BigWillie
I still say they script a few plays run directly for him. Maybe an end-around or something of that sort. They'll make sure he gets a touch or two I am almost certain. Quote Link to comment
StuckinChicago
Forget size, Jackson has the kind of speed we are looking for in a receiver. We have lacked a legitimate deep threat all year with herian out. We need someone to stretch the field to open up the underneath plays. Quote Link to comment
formerfan
Forget size, Jackson has the kind of speed we are looking for in a receiver. Im not so sure about that. From the guys theyve recruited, it seems like this staff is trying to get the 6'4" 4.7-40 type guys. We have lacked a legitimate deep threat all year with herian out. We need someone to stretch the field to open up the underneath plays. Something that I dont quite understand. Fluellen is a great sprinter, Hardy was supposed to be able to stretch the field, and I thought that LeFlore had pretty good wheels, too Remembering back on Walsh's WCO, I dont remember them using the TE as a deep threat. Thats what guys like John Taylor, Freddie Solomon, and Renaldo Neiamah (sp??) did. I remember Brent Jones being kind of a "check off" guy who found seems 8-15 yards out. Quote Link to comment
husker rob
or fake the end around to him then throw deep when the safteys and corners bite. let the fun begin Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
i can't understand why we are having a problem finding a place where Jackson fits? not complaining, just confused.....if he has talent and speed then why have we not found a place for him and used his talents frequently before now? thoughts? hunter Quote Link to comment
husker rob
had he not asked to go to the defensive side of the ball i think that the coaches would have gotten him on the field a lot earlier. i have seen him make some good tackles on kickoff coverage, so devensively it is just taking him longer to grasp the schemes Quote Link to comment

Red Snow Sword: Husker Sentinel
I don't think that posts qualifies as trolling. == As far as Jackson at WR - I would like to see his talents exploited somehow. I'm sure BC can cook up some sort of trick play....... Quote Link to comment
