knapplc
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The national organ transplant network has complied with a judge's unusual order and placed a dying 10-year-old girl on the adult waiting list for a donated lung. The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network added her to the list Wednesday night after U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson's ruling, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Thursday. Joel Newman, spokesman for the United Network for Organ Sharing that operates the nation's transplant network, said he was unaware of any previous court order that overruled a transplant policy. Newman said some lungs donated from deceased adults have been offered for children's transplants over the past two years, although he couldn't give a number. But he said all were turned down by the children's surgeons. LINK Link to comment
Someone
I am happy that some Republicans are advocating for having Government officials (Judges & Political Appointees) not Doctors make these life and death choices. I good to know where they stand on these principles. Link to comment
Someone
And the bat sh#t crazy trend continues... "Sadly, what is happening to Sarah is only the start of what we will see happen to our health care system under Obamacare. Government red-tape will override the expertise of our doctors, and soon we will all be at the mercy of death panels run by Kathleen Sebelius and other un-elected bureaucrats." http://www.lifenews.com/2013/06/10/the-obamacare-death-panels-have-begun-for-disabled-children/ Link to comment
Mavric
Apparently a lung transplant has been "made available". No details that I've seen so far. She'll be heading into surgery shortly. Link to comment
carlfense
I good to know where they stand on these principles. If the principle is trying to score political points regardless of past positions on similar issues it's quite principled indeed . . . Link to comment
