Utah_Husker
Well said skers, Blackshirts, and Chicago. SP is a lightning rod for criticism because he changes things and people in general are against change, which is funny, because the only constant is change. And baseball...if I remember someone's sig line correctly. I tend to think SP is a lighting rod for criticism because he's a pompous A-hole. But maybe that's just me. Quote Link to comment
hack
Pretty ballsy to fire Solich. Pretty lucky to land Callahan. I think over the next two years, we will see huge improvements in the team and all of this talk about if Callahan is the right guy for the job will go away. Who cares if Pederson tries to take credit for it. I think all we care about is the product on the field. Yeah winning is all that matters who cares about anything else. Win at all cost. You mean like the year when Osborne benched L Phillips the entire year saying he was pretty much done with him. Then the NC game comes up and low and behold LP is in there playing. Hmm seems to me TO went in with the "win at all costs" as you put it. Funny Benard you have this thing called "selective memory"! i have 'pornographic memory,' but i digress... . formerfan
I don't like Pederson as a person. He's a slimeball. According to some, you sir, are not a real fan. But back to the orgininal question, the only thing that pud has done positive is the stadium expansion project, and even that he has screwed up. It is far from being paid for, and many that he was counting on for support have closed their wallets to him. Visionary, yes, but sometimes visionaries meet their "untimely demise." StuckinChicago
Another Pederson move, he has announced that the University will be showing tonight's final four match at the Devaney center. Doors open at 7:30, and I will be going with at least one of my roommates. Its also free, and the University had to secure premission from ESPN to carry the game and show it. I know that this has nothing to do with with football, but man, you guys have to realize that he may be a big slimeball, egomanical, jerk, but he is doing some really great things for the fans and the athletic department, and I am glad that I have an opportunity to be a student during his administration. Dont think for a second that they would do this before Pederson got here. Quote Link to comment

Will the real StuckinChicago please stand up? Quote Link to comment

HuskerFaithful
former, I don't see how not liking the A.D. has anything to do with being a Husker football fan. I like Callahan and what he's doing. I don't care for Pederson, just from what I've heard. I haven't personally met him either for that matter. Maybe I should reserve judgement. But like I said, I like what he is doing, just not how he's handled it. The building project needed to be done and it takes awhile to raise $50 million, so chances are that we would have started before the money was raised anyway. He seems to be much more proactive than Bryne was. Quote Link to comment
StuckinChicago
So moving the soccer team, the husker fan pavilion, the volleyball showing.... None of these are good things former??? Last I checked, the expansion project is a pretty big deal, and even if that was all he had done, it would have been one hell of an accomplishment. Quote Link to comment

chuckd
Like I've said before, Steve Peterson is not just the Football Director, he is the Athletic Director. Sports in general at NU are doing very well (except for men's bball...but thats another story) I understand that around these parts football is the most important sport, but sometimes you need to look at the big picture. SP may be a slimeball or whatever, but Nebraska sports as a whole are doing very well. Quote Link to comment

Krondoggie
Sure ole Stevey Pete might come off a bit smug, and slimy at times, but lets applaud him for something most people lack - VISION for both the entire athletic department and especially the football team. He could see where football with that drunken moron was heading - a place formerfan, bernard or anyone would ever dream it should be, and that's not in a good way either - and don't think for a second that if he'd been back here a year beforehand frank never under any circumstances would have survived the 7-7 embarrasment. I was ready for frank to go them and even more ready to see him leave after that kansas state disaster at the stadium, 8-3 record regardless. steve saw the football facilities were becoming second rate - wise move to make the massive upgrades to nebraska's cash cow. he has created the pavillion, enhanced the coliseum and found ways to make the other venues something special. he's done many good things for the school and the fans. lets let steve do his tough job and find ways to back Husker Nation whether or not we aggree with steve or not. GO BIG RED!!! Quote Link to comment

I agree with you 100% on that statement. Its just been brought to my attention (numerous times) that if you are a Husker fan, you have to be a fan of the AD and coach. I disagree. I called pud a scumbag and was chastisted for it Quote Link to comment

He has been too busy manipulating the FB program, and getting someone to change the traditions of NU football. Baseball, V-ball, etc are all great, but those were built before he got to NU. Hardly a visionary by staying away, but those programs are better for it Quote Link to comment
