Bo Pelini Scandal Special with Adam Carriker, Roy Helu and Will Compton on 4th & Pain

Recommended Posts

I am more concerned about his record vs BCS competition .....0 for our last 3....etc

Bo Pelini is 33-21 at Nebraska in games vs BCS conference schools. 15 of those 33 wins came against opponents who finished with a losing record. Only 5 wins against teams who finished with a record of 9-5 or better.

And considering we've had 9-10 wins and four losses each year that's very close to our record. Thus, those are basically teams as good or better than us, record-wise. You don't win a lot of games against teams that are better than you. If you do, there are fewer teams in that category. Vicious cycle.

Aren't statistics fun?

I kind really define what it means to be "over the hump", but like porn, I'd know it when I saw it. I feel we've been so close to the top of said hump (CCG game appearances in '09, '10, '12, the '10 Mizzou and Okie St games), then we take an almost perilous slide (losses to the likes of ISU in ridiculous fashion or the more recent major blowouts against decent to good competition). I see signs in approved talent level that MIGHT get us over said hump in '14, if there's also a change in the program's psychology. Won't know til after '14 (maybe '15?) if its just another tease like '09, '10. Easy for me to say since my life doesn't hinge on the success or failure of Nebraska football, but if my choices are to stick with 9-10 wins and 3-4 losses, with maybe a 10% of chance of greatness during a specific time frame, or take the 50/50(?) risk of getting a superior coach or ending up with another Callahan era, I'd rather take the shot at greatness rather than just hope Bo figures it out at some point.

Cosgrove was fired for less? Think about that. Bo's D own 4 of our top 10 D melt downs. Not to mention most yrds given up, most points in a quarter etc...........

Look at Bo's record as a DC. Very good. MNC at OU, LSU.

His issue is lack of supporting cast.

We have an O whose OC in year 3, continues to admit, "I called a bad game", we tried to do to much etc......... Beck has some serious faults that in year 3 with a 4th year starter, seniors abound, should not be having. It is inexcusable.

Cosgrove was let go as part of Bill Callahan's staff. And in case we forgot, Cally had two losing seasons and missed a bowl. I don't think OU won the championship game in 2004. I don't doubt Pelini may be doing too much, but I'm a believer that recruiting has been his biggest issue. I agree about Beck. I liked him as OC, but I agree the offense should not have the issues we are seeing from it.

I still say Beck requires a passer that can scramble like he had at KU not a runner trying to pass. Beck could be out of his element.
