Warrior10
–Chongo Kondolo spent the majority of Saturday playing as a starter at right guard over Givens Price. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Pelini said a new addition could be seen off the edge after an impressive week from freshman linebacker Marcus Newby. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
“We’ve given him the chance to rush kind of in the DeMorrio Williams-type mode a couple days, and I think we found a niche for him to be able to help us as a rusher on third down,” Pelini said. “He can play low, he has good hips. Obiously he’s explosive and fast, and I think that’s an area where he’ll be able to help us and give us tons more juice opposite Randy (Gregory).” Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
I like Zaire Anderson playing downhill and aggressively. He impresses most when the linebackers are on the attack and blitzing. During the scrimmage, Anderson came off the edge on a blitz and crushed Ryker Fyfe, who has generally shown good pocket awareness. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Cornerback Jonathan Rose was back with the ones Saturday after Byerson Cockrell spent at least two days this week with the top unit. Pelini said incoming freshmen could have a big impact on the battle for the fourth cornerback spot behind Josh Mitchell, Cockrell and Rose, with Boaz Joseph in the mix. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
–Josh Banderas started the scrimmage with the top unit, but Michael Rose played with the ones near the end of the day. Trevor Roach played more with the twos and threes, with Courtney Love and Marcus Newby getting looks with the ones and in rushing situations. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
–Terrell Newby had what I would say was the strongest day, getting seven carries on one drive with the twos late in the scrimmage. He busted runs of 25 and 30 yards in the drive and finished it with about 70 yards total. He also broke a long run in special teams drills that could have been a touchdown in a live drill. Warrior10
Dan Hoppen @danhoppen 42m My two standouts from the scrimmage today - Brandon Reilly and Terrell Newby. Newby looks like one of the offense’s more explosive players. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Josh Harvey @JoshHarveyScout 51m Guys who stood out to me at practice today: Terrell Newby, Brandon Reilly, Sam Burtch, Charles Jackson, Mark Pelini, and Michael Rose. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Mike'l Severe @MikelSevere 51m Really like the versatility that Joseph has. Singleton, Alexander and Gerry can all hit. #Huskers Somebody I know also likes Joey Felici Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Mike'l Severe @MikelSevere 58m Great battle at LB. Seems like comp is making guys better. Bando & Rose, Zaire & Santos. Newby was intriguing today. Off the edge. #Huskers Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Mike'l Severe @MikelSevere 56m In case you missed it, Maliek Collins. NFM. #Huskers Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Mike'l Severe @MikelSevere 55m The other spot that has good comp is Safety. Even with Coop and Drake out, Pretty good play back there. #Huskers Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Mike'l Severe @MikelSevere 1h It's early but I like the depth at the TE for #Huskers. On the outside Brandon Reilly and Jamal looked good today. Still wondering about OT. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Sean Callahan @Sean_Callahan 1h You can just sense by the way @BoPelini talks and his overall body language this spring he really likes this team. #Huskers Sean Callahan @Sean_Callahan 1h It's hard to find a lot of glaring holes right now. QB still has to be the biggest question, but everything around Armstrong is very solid. Quote Link to comment
