Mavric
They'll keep prodding. Prodding him to realize his vast potential. To be sure, they're pushing Terrell Newby to expand his football horizons. His coaches and teammates, one teammate in particular, urge him to sweat the small stuff. They encourage him to know that a certain offensive lineman is pulling a certain way, that a defensive lineman is stunting another way. "We quiz him all the time in the film room," said Nebraska All-Big Ten running back Ameer Abdullah, a senior and mentor to Newby. "He's right on it now. Last year, that's something he was kind of slow to do and now he's really embraced that you have to get in the film room and embrace the offense in order to get on the field." A 5-foot-10, 195-pound sophomore, Newby carried the ball more often than any running back during Saturday's scrimmage. Throughout the spring season, he's impressed onlookers with his explosive speed. He scoots between the tackles for gains. And, of course, he uses his speed to bounce to the outside when necessary. Yeah, he's created a buzz. "I'm telling you, man, Terrell ... you'll see. You'll see about Terrell this year," Abdullah said last week. LJS 2 Quote Link to comment
OH HSKR FAN
He has the potential to be even better than Abdullah. Will he have the drive? 1 Quote Link to comment
husker07
Was high on Newby out of HS, and was impressed with a lot of what he did last year. It just didn't look like he was ready for the college stage mentally quite yet. He must be something special if arguably the best running back in the nation is raving about him. Quote Link to comment
