Hooked on Huskers
Hooked why are you concentrating on the Elo rankings? Its been noted that Sagarin was forced to use the Elo system in the BCS rankings (it based solely on wins and loses and doesn't take the score of the game into account). The predictor column is what you should be looking at. To tell you the truth, I didn't fully understand Sag's ratings ..... obviously not divulge the exact methodology behind his system. ELO Chess? Raw ratings (the farther left column)? Golden Mean? . Whole bunch of computer methodology's comes and goes, except Jeff Sagarin. His ratings have been a regular feature in the USAToday sports section since 1985 .... 30 years ago ! Only thing, I had looked up prediction column every week. Very accurate most of the time. Even LV casino lines waiting for Sag's predictor column (spread points). For example, Sagarin said MSU favored by 7.5 points against Huskers just after Illinois game and before LV opening lines. Gamblers use Sagarin's ratings as a source of "Power Rankings," traditionally used as a way to determine the spread between two teams. - wikipedia source Quote Link to comment
