Its time to start thinking about extending Riley's contract.

Nebraska won yesterday - good game. The state of Nebraska football has fallen to a point where

everyone is surprised we easily handled Minnesota. We beat Minnesota - not Michigan State - but

Minnesota. Let's build upon this and get better...

you mentioned weve fallen to a point. The point we have fallen FROM, michigan st wasnt good either. So maybe at this new point, minnesota is better than they were at the other point? Wait. TCU and Utah are national totle co tenders too? Things change over time? Weird.

I just dont inderstand the angst. No perspective. Not from you. Just what i see

We all knew it would take time for the team to gel, and yesterday they did. They won on the road as an underdog, against a team that had beaten NU 2 straight years. Two years ago we were embarrassed and resoundingly beaten, by a team coached by an asst. coach that had no coaching experience. Not yesterday by seasoned coach that everyone respects.

Yesterday, we witnessed a coaching staff that put together a great gameplan and a team that finally bought in. Maybe part of it was the speech that Lewis gave the team earlier this week. (If so, it proves that Riley handled the matter with him correctly) But the team and coaching staff played to win and put a team away yesterday. They did everything we thought they could do coming into the season. They got everything out of the talent that they had. Its on to bigger and better things.

Lets look at what they did.

Put together a great gameplan - A+

Playcalling - A+

Game management - A

Special Teams - B

D-line - A+

Linebackers - A

D-backs - B-

O-line - B+

Qb - A-

Receiver's - A

So, if not a contract extension, then maybe a raise! Hip Hip Hooray!

To quote Ricky Bobby's oldest son, "how much you selling that weed for old man?"

To be fair, so far this season, we lost to an assistant coach and a guy who's going to get fired at the end of the year.

If anything, Riley will get the cursory 1 year renewal that's standard, but no more than that.

Any extension would be insanity.

Maybe you could point out where we disagree instead of posting something stupid.

As for a contract extension: I think we just gave him a no cut contract. I see no reason to even consider ANY extension UNLESS it includes a buy out clause the requires any team he works for in the future before the contract is fulfilled to pay the University the remainder of his contract if they choose to hire him away from us. Certainly, you don't extend the contract for a minimum of three years. When it gets down to 2 years left and we have a Big Ten division or champ trophy in the case, we can give him another year or two. No automatic rollovers. Period. Let him EARN IT!

I disagree with making another school pay if they take him. Can we make MR stand on the corner with a "take me I'm free" sign? If I am AD, I am promising to buy beer, dinner, cars, anything I can to get someone to offer MR a job. Then I do a happy dance, and I hope I don't get fired for hiring him in the first place.

By the way, I can win an argument based on facts and I can resort to name calling while I do it and it doesn't de-legitimize anything. Matter of fact, I think it helps them understand that I am right, they are wrong, and they may be a bit dumb for thinking they were right in the first place.

Funny how a positive Husker post after a nice win brings out all the faux husker fans [ ie BUGS] that are out in force to tamp it down. really embarrassing for all of you!

My apologies in advance for feeding the troll, but I find it funny that those who are happy that the team is underachieving have proclaimed themselves as "real fans" and labeled those who are unhappy with the team being bad as "faux."

Ironic.

Do you smoke crack?

The real question is "do BUGS smoke crack"???????????

I think ndobney asked a legitimate question that you are avoiding answering. I, for one, would like to know the answer. And please, for the sake of everyone here on the board, make your answer a genuine yes or no so we don't have to repeat the question.

Do you smoke Crack????? you should answer that! Another good question would be, "Why are you a BUG"???

Mike Riley is that you? I thought you were never going to figure out how to use that internets thing.

All this after a win on the road as an undog , against a team favored to win the west????? I feel sorry for you faux husker fan.

I have no idea what an undog is, but just so you know, we didn't play Wisconsin yesterday.

Ironic that you think we underachieved yesterday. Impossible for the faux fans to be happy. BTW were you the one that told the recruit not to come here last week??
