cm husker
Bill Snyder was 50 when he took over KSU and built them up in the 90s. Since turning 62 (Riley's current age), he's 94-58 (.618) and 2-7 in bowl games. Building up a program on the great plains is an especially heavy lift as one reaches social security collecting age. cm husker
I don't know how much work Mike Riley is willing to put in at this point in his career. Then again, if he wanted the easy way out he wouldn't have traded the safe job in his hometown of Corvallis for unfamiliar Lincoln and the crushing expectations of Nebraska. There was talk that his security there was in question, and one of the main reasons he left was because the University wanted to reduce his assistants to 1-year contracts (Husker fans probably remember what that likely means). Not to mention that Riley got a significant raise (almost doubling his Pac 12 low $1.5M yearly salary), as did the assistants that he brought along. Really, it was a no brainer to make the trade. Has Riley moved into or started building a house yet? Quote Link to comment
