Roxy15
Crockpot Loaded Potatoes: I made these last night with grilled pork steak and they turned out great. I served them with butter and sour cream and fried up some bacon and chopped it into small pieces and put the bacon and some shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions on top. ***Use How Many Potatoes You Need Prick the Russet potatoes with a fork several times, then rub potatoes with Olive Oil, sprinkle with Kosher Salt, and wrap tightly in foil. Place the potatoes into a slow cooker, cover, and cook on High for 4-1/2 to 5 hours, or on Low for 7-1/2 to 8 hours until tender. 2 Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
Serious question......why cook potatoes in a crock pot for hours when you can bake them in the oven, or do them on the grill or in the microwave, all in a shorter amount of time? Do they turn out different or taste different? I guess I've never considered doing them in a crockpot, wondering what the benefit could be. Quote Link to comment
Roxy15
Sometimes it is just easier for me to do it this way when I have a lot going on. Sometimes I have other food I am baking in the oven at a different temperature, etc. and I have microwaved them, but sometimes I just like a change of making the same ole same ole. This was the first time I have made them this way and I liked them. Have grilled them outside but I do whatever is convenient for me at the time. 1 Quote Link to comment

I was kind of thinking that too but it would be sweet to just toss them in the crockpot and leave while they are cooking. Quote Link to comment

My wife and I like to try and make different things in the crock pot, because it's nice to have dinner done when we get home from work. Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
All of those make sense. And I can see where a slow cooked potato might be better than simply 10 minutes in the microwave. We don't use our crock pot near enough. Quote Link to comment
Roxy15
I wouldn't want to use the crockpot for every meal but it sure comes in handy when I am going to be really busy that day and I don't feel like cooking over the stove. Also by using it, I can eat and go to bed when I want to and he can eat and come to bed when he wants to and I don't have to stay up. Quote Link to comment
