BIG ERN
Young is one of the worst blitzers I've ever seen. Go back and watch he like tip-toes and doesn't even get close. He has done this in several games. MRI missed - Newby only good LB I've seen blitz this year. We didn't blitz the CBs often like we have in the past. Quote Link to comment
Nebfanatic
We blitzed quite a bit Ohio state just played maybe their best game of the season imo Ohio State seemed bored more than anything over the last month. It bit them in the butt in Happy Valley, and after being asked what is wrong with them by everyone on campus/media, they played their first marquee primetime game at home. Well, we got their full attention instead of the sleepwalking version that has been going through the motions over the past month. Ohio State is going to run this conference for the foreseeable future unless a lot of these young guys go pro early. We are at least three good recruiting classes from having the talent/depth to realistically go into a place like the horseshoe and expect to compete with having a good chance at leaving with a win. This is more proof for the "walk on" people that this is what you get when you are forced to play a lot of them against a championship caliber team and it isn't pretty. Don't be surprised if Ohio State beats the hell out of Mechicken too the last weekend of the regular season. They have also played a very easy schedule where they have only played two teams (Rutgers and MSU) on the road so far. They play at Iowa next weekend who has fallen off the map. At home vs Indiana then at Ohio State. http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/schedule/_/id/130/michigan-wolverines 100% No player blaming and coaches could do a better job but it's really hard to do that when you are outmanned like we were, especially in the trenches. It will improve, we have good young talent at o line in particular, but we aren't there yet Quote Link to comment
Hayseed
We blitz early, then we became extremely timid and backed of the rest of the night. I think that killed us. Penn St. Killed tOSU with 5 man rushes. Banker turned chicken when we went down a couple scores. That was when we needed to cranknk it up the most. It's not like we weren't getting burned anyway. JT is a QB with great field vision and is very good at countering blitzes. They also have outlet guys strategically placed, just a better overall offensive strategy. We STILL should've gone after him EVERY down. Letting a guy like Barrett stand back there looking around all night is suicide. Offensively, Tommy throws low % passes into coverage and doesn't have great timing, accuracy, or touch on short ones......but we already knew that. Quote Link to comment

No disrespect to Tommy, but we need that precision passing game against teams like OSU and that's just not his forte. Again no disrespect to Tommy but this offense and his skillset is not a quality marriage and it hinders our offense. If we were running a TO offense, Tommy would play at an AA level Quote Link to comment
