pigsonthewing
shocking, the revenue and expense is only a difference of 76k? craziness. Quote Link to comment
SouthDakotaHusker
Actually the fact that the difference is 76K is not crazy, it is logical. Because Nebraska is a non-profit institution, they must spend all of their revenues otherwise they may lose their non-profit status and then have to pay taxes on all of their revenues. As football and basketball revenues go up, so do coaches salaries because they need to spend the money to remain not-for-profit. (I wish every company had this problem). Quote Link to comment
pigsonthewing
ahh i wasnt aware that universities were non-profit institutions. Quote Link to comment
StuckinChicago
Public ones are, many private institutions are not. Quote Link to comment

huskerdavo
Um the fact that they only made 17 k from ticket sales is bogus.... i mean at $45 an avg ticket x 77k fans = 3.4 million a game thats 24.2 million for 7 home games did anyone else think 17 k for ticket sales is off Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
damn......sounds like fuzzy math to me....unless the popcorn is free! hunter Quote Link to comment
drewalt
and isn't the price for a ticket like $52 now. Which over 7 home games would be 28 million Quote Link to comment
chad1971
Well you can definately tell who the money maker for this University is!!! I get the report every year sent to me, People have no idea what it cost's to run a MAJOR athletic program. That's the reason they schedule lower tier football games because NEBRASKA keeps 70% of the ticket revenue - When usc and vt come to Lincoln we might only keep 55% - 60% of the ticket revenue - Title X - takes money away from the revenue producing sport's. People can WHINE all they want about playing lower tier teams, but it comes down to MONEY - Just like everything else. Steve Pederson has to answer to the Board Of Regents and a surplus is a lot easier to present than a LOSS. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
I like the fact that CU is losing money just goes to show you how good their program is!!! Quote Link to comment
