U of Nebraska '04-'05 NCAA Financial Reports

Recommended Posts

Actually the fact that the difference is 76K is not crazy, it is logical. Because Nebraska is a non-profit institution, they must spend all of their revenues otherwise they may lose their non-profit status and then have to pay taxes on all of their revenues.

As football and basketball revenues go up, so do coaches salaries because they need to spend the money to remain not-for-profit.

(I wish every company had this problem).

Well you can definately tell who the money maker for this University is!!!

I get the report every year sent to me, People have no idea what it cost's to run a MAJOR athletic program. That's the reason they schedule lower tier football games because NEBRASKA keeps 70% of the ticket revenue - When usc and vt come to Lincoln we might only keep 55% - 60% of the ticket revenue - Title X - takes money away from the revenue producing sport's. People can WHINE all they want about playing lower tier teams, but it comes down to MONEY - Just like everything else. Steve Pederson has to answer to the Board Of Regents and a surplus is a lot easier to present than a LOSS. :horns2
