knapplc
This is a rather shocking development, but perhaps a sign that even Republicans are getting tired of Trump's nonsense. Today the House Appropriations Committee, headed by Republicans, proposed an amendment that would take away a president's ability to go to war. If passed, every new war would require Congressional consent. 3 Link to comment
Danny Bateman
Congressional consent for war authorization is actually an issue that could generate some pretty good support. I know it's a pet issue for Tim Kaine. Here's a story about him and Flake showing bipartisan support for such a move. IIRC McCain supports this as well. Link to comment
zoogs
Seems like a positive development, really. Link to comment
BigRedBuster
I'd be for that and if this is being proposed by Republicans....great. But, it will never be signed by Trump. 2 Link to comment

Not that it matters, but I'm pretty sure he railed on Obama for not going through Congress when contemplating actions against Syria. Link to comment

I would love to see him try to defend "not signing" it while that Tweet is being circulated far and wide. And then have Congress override the veto. Link to comment

He's proven that. 1 Link to comment
