First up UC Riverside:

Nebraska split a two-game series with UC Riverside last year in Tempe, winning Friday's game 8-3, but losing Saturday's game 1-8.

UC Riverside finished last in the Big West coming in at 7-17 in the Big West and 19-33 overall.

Their hitting and homerun leader Connor Cannon (10) (.282 avg) is also a pitcher.

Cole Percival was their leading pitcher with 5 wins, 4 losses, 3.20 ERA, 87.1 IP,  79 H, 31 ER, 15 BB, 63 Ks.

From College Baseball Daily's Season Preview of the Big West:

Quote

UC Riverside (2018 Record: 19-33, 7-17)

UC Riverside had some solid out-of-conference wins over Washington State, Nebraska, and Washington last year. But they struggled mightily in conference play finishing last.

Returning Players

Connor Cannon should be back for his junior season after hitting .282 mostly from the DH spot last year with 28 runs scored, 12 doubles, 10 home runs, and 33 RBI. Outfielder Matt Hardy hit .311 a season ago with 4 home runs and 32 RBI. Justin Mannens was limited to just 21 games last year but could have a big impact on the lineup this season.

Cole Percival will look to build off an impressive freshman season in which he posted a 3.19 ERA in 87.1 innings pitched with 63 strikeouts.

Outlook for 2019

This team loses a lot of key contributors from last year’s team, especially in the pitching staff. They’ll need some impact newcomers to fill those holes if they are going to improve in the Big West standings.

1. Cal State Fullerton

2. UC Santa Barbara

3. UC Irvine

4. Cal Poly

5. Long Beach State

I really hope we can come out of the gate hot this year instead of stumbling/falling flat on our face like we have past seasons.

There's no reason we shouldn't be 4-0 going into the Oregon State matchup, and I'll be happy with 6-2 at the end of February.

Past February starts with Erstad at the helm:

2018 - 5-3

2017 - 2-4 (2 games with UC Riverside cancelled)

2016 - 2-4

2015 - 5-4

2014 - 4-4

2013 - 0-7

2012 - 4-3

so yet to have fewer than 3 losses in the opening month.

Pros of the first three games? Offense, double digits in both runs and hits for the first three games. Need to see this keep going especially when facing probably the best team we will see all year this upcoming week.

Cons? Would like to see a finish attitude, Nebraska had some issues last night, had a couple errors in one inning that led to a run. Also fielding needs to get better 7 errors in three games. Fielding has been a strong point in the past for Nebraska needs to improve dramatically especially since we will start facing better teams soon.
