rdwoodpecker
The kickoffs and place kicking have been a really BIG problem this year. But, maybe I need to place the punting in that category as well. We punted last night 5 times for a 35 yard average. They punted once for 59 yards! Damn that is a 24 yard advance on us. He appears to be punting everything low and short! Most punter follow thru the kicking leg goes to head level or above. Watching Armstrong punt he has no follow thru whatsoever. The little things get you beat and we have lots of little things on the kicking game Quote Link to comment
lincoln84
I agree but that is like #28 on the critical list for NU. So many other things to fix. Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
Yes, our whole kicking game is trash. It was most apparent in warmups. OSU was booming punts and making FGs from 50+. Our guys comparatively looked like a bad high school team. Seriously. Punts were getting shanked right and left, no height or hang. In fact the warm-up punts looked worse than our extra point tries. We're going to need to spend some schollies on both. Definite positions of need. Quote Link to comment
Dansker
It's the entire special teams. Flags, stupid decisions, non-existent return game, poor blocking, we've seen it all through 4 games now. About the only decent thing is our punt coverage and a few blocked punts against a lousy team. Jason Sitoke
I think our punting has a chance to get much better with reps as we get into the meat of the conference schedule. Quote Link to comment
