Were there 5 stars certainly 1 or 2. 4 stars? Yes. But I will Bet you a majority of starters on those teams would be 3 stars on down. I’m not disagreeing we need 4 stars. We need 4 stars who are studs though. Dude No. That is seriously the delusional portion of the fan base that believes that. They actually went back and tried to piece together some recruiting rankings based on a few small databases and it showed in the 90's our classes ranked between like 5th-15th. That is not 3 stars and down. Tommie Frazier was the #1 QB in the country, Ahman Green was the #2 running back in the country. Wistrom was one of top DE in country- you think Wistrom started as a freshman on the greatest team in history in 95 as a low 3 star. Seriously people lets get real. The peters brothers were highly sought after. On and On. Phillips was a top 10 runningback in country. I know we like to over dramatize the 90s and think we did that with all walk ons so we can feel like we can do it again. But the recruiting rankings matter. Talent matters. The teams at the top have the best players. Thats true now and it was true 10 years ago and 20 years ago. 1 Quote Link to comment
Atbone95
There is a thread for walk-on stuff though, which I would motion to have the mods move all of this discussion about walk-ons in the 1990s to because this is pretty annoying. Quote Link to comment
