Mavric
Nebraska coach Mike Riley has been regularly dropping the name of De’Mornay Pierson-El into recent interviews, and the sophomore-to-be receiver came up again Wednesday as Riley talked about evaluating film from last season and winter workouts. Pierson-El was one of the Huskers’ pleasant surprises last season, catching 23 passes for 321 yards and leading the nation with 596 punt return yards. He also had four receiving touchdowns and brought back three punts for scores. Riley watched the Holiday Bowl live when Pierson-El capped his freshman season with a game-high eight receptions for 102 yards and a TD. “We can run the fly sweep with him, we can run our wide receiver screens, we can run our reverses with him and we can run the posts,” Riley said, in response to a question about getting an idea what returning Huskers can do. “And then we got to teach him a comeback to the field, and that’s a pretty good package for a guy. So a little bit of what we’re teaching, we’ve got a little bit of an idea already. We have to just do that with more players.” OWH Quote Link to comment
AR Husker Fan
Love this - get the ball in the hands of your playmakers. Get them out in space, and let them fly. Quote Link to comment
lo country
It would be easier to count the ways to not use him. As an offensive lineman...... He really came into his own the last half of the season. I am excited with all of the returning playmakers we have coming back coupled with a staff that has enough experience to a) use them to their strengths and b) adjust when needed to continue making said play maker a threat. Blackshirt96
Just think if Riley & Lang could develop a QB who makes good quick reads & is a accurate passer. Nebraska hasn't been short on skilled guys. They have been missing a real QB. Joe Ganz was probably the last guy how could do all of what a QB needs to do. So basically Bo & staff never developed a QB the whole time they were here. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
I'm excited about DPE and at the same time, I'm concerned about the hype he is getting. Right now, the fan base expects him to absolutely do great things multiple times in every game. Now, if the staff (who really hasn't seen any players in practice to get to know them) likes him but also like others and DPE doesn't end up with as many touches as the fan base thinks he should get, it ends up in a back lash against the coaches or the player. I think he is going to be a valuable player on the team. However, I think we also have many other playmakers on the offense and especially at the WR position. It's going to be interesting to see how they use all their weapons. Quote Link to comment

Roger Dorn
Don't get me wrong DPE is a great player and will benefit greatly from Riley's system but I think Westerkamp will have the better year. He is a true receiver and will benefit from the change in scheme. Quote Link to comment

As knapp said before last year, it's a shame if we can't find a QB that can simply get the ball in the hands of our playmakers. Quote Link to comment
