  1. I question the automatic LSU ranking of 2nd. Yes, they had a terrific YEAR, but IF rankings are meant to reflect the level of competitiveness at the end of the season, then getting SHUT OUT and not even crossing midfield until 7 1/2 minutes are left is not a rousing endorsement. I believe Okie Lite has a semi-legitimate beef...........
  2. 6 wins over bowl teams gets you nothing..............??
  3. Probably going to happen, but JBD continues to have foot issues............. The best bet is for the assistants to kidnap Doc with 2 minutes left and lock him in the privy............... I'm hoping Doc gets called for a technical foul with a couple minutes left, and gets tossed out of the game. Getting everyone fired up before he is escorted to the lockerroom. Seriously though, I feel bad for Doc. You just can't lay all this crap that's happened on his doorstep. // I DON'T mean for this to turn into a bashing Doc thread. I agree you can't lay it ALL at his feet, (injuries for sure), but certainly he has to accept some of the blame. Too many instances in late game situations over the years where we either can't even in-bound the ball or fail to get a shot off or something weird to occur to all be purely coincidental. And, as a number have continually stated.................it's tough because everyone LIKES Doc..................that makes it tough to criticize............

  5. Can't find Coz on this list..............??
  6. just mora the same for the uclans..........
  7. Well crafted................. And his run over the hapless Hawkeye along with the weave through Mizzou both deserve a spot on greatest Husker moments..............

  9. Ergo.............the Bill Always Comes Due.................
  10. Didn't Iowa just get beat in their last duel?? Yes. They fell to OK ST #2 team in the nation 17-16 Just meant it doesn't get any easier................
  11. We seem to have the linebackers to run a 3-4. You'd have to have the speediest guys outside, obviously, as they'd rush the passer a lot. I'd think a 3-4 with Santos, Anderson, Compton, and Cooper/Rose would be alright. I just don't want to run a 3-4 that basically negates our outside linebackers ability to perform as linebackers and turns them into pure pass rushers. That would be a waste of Cooper, Rose, or Santos' abilities. However, situationally, if he wanted to... I'm sure he could make it work. That said, I don't know if we have the D-line to run 3-4, and I really wouldn't tinker with it myself. We don't have a nose tackle for the middle, and I wouldn't want the chore of teaching our ends how to be 3-4 ends... I guess if Bo considers changing the scheme, he has to ask if the benefits (namely, getting more athletic playmakers on the field because they understand a simplified scheme) outweighs the negatives (scrapping his proven scheme and implementing a whole new system). I've been reminded OFTEN the hardest position to fill is D-line..........especially the nose tackle............thus, you don't see more teams implementing it............
  12. Agree. The comparisons between the coaching styles become pretty stark with adjacent games and an immediate opportunity to contrast.
  13. I am predicting 2 - 3 conference wins. Probably just enough for T.O. to bring Doc back....................
  14. Too bad his last name isn't Cotton, he'd have an offer and actually be worthy of it. I Think when it's all fleshed out.....................all of the Cotton Kids will have proven to have been solid contributors.........................
  15. I agree with you that he brought in some really good recruits but it didn't seem like he did anything with them. After his last season here did you really still want him to stay? I didn't. Wasn't there also a complaint that he simply didn't understand our culture? My opinion was that Bill just wasn't a good college coach. It wasn't the first time that an NFL coach made the jump to college and it didn't work out. He sounds like a good offensive line coach or whatever he does for the Jets. I also don't think it was just that he wasn't willing to change DC that ended his career here. There were many things. I think, if you were interested, that you could go back in the archives of this board and read the reasons why the university fired him and Steve Pederson. I respectfully disagree: I do not wish that Bill was still our coach. Sorry. It's a re-hash, but there was definitely a mismatch in understanding Nebraska history, culture, walk-ons, colege vs pros, etc. (We are seeing a little of that cultural disconnect coming from PSU right now.........and they haven't even played a down). Plus, the verdict is still out (jmo) on whether or not he is a Head Coach type. Might be another case of the Peter Principal at play. Take an outstanding offensive line guy and promote him into an inefficient CEO. Having said all that ....................IF the rumors about Barney hanging it up are true................I'd LOVE for BC to be our O-line coach ! Of course, it will never happen, but I'd dream it would be a great fit (if not for his prior experience here). There, that last sentence should convince doubters that we all don't HATE BC. It just wasn't a position and/or cultural match for him here.
  16. I believe a lot of it comes down to two things............ (1) When you run a perimeter offense as your base (passively tossing it around the perimeter until under 10 seconds)..............you are ill-equipped to run an aggressive offense at the end of the game.........simply not used to ATTACKING the rim. And it shows.............and Doc should be able to figure that out..............BUT...............?? (2) It's wrong to generalize (and they do play HARD), but closing out at the end of games is largely mental................and we seem to lack mental toughness...............thus we see the continual FT bricks, turnovers, mental breakdowns (a senior.......Richardson.........getting an intentional foul when so unnecessary); a fade away 3 from Bo.... another senior..........! Hate to make the comparison, but right now the football team seems to be replicating the BB team in terms of lack of mental toughness in tight games or at the end of games.
  17. That's helpful..............much appreciated............
  18. A picture is worth a thousand words..........
  19. What else is new, Doc's teams always play stupid at the end of games. My god this team is pathetic. Unfortunately, this is too true. It's almost better if we don't have time outs, just play it out because when Doc gets involved at the end of games..................nothing good happens............
  20. Doc NEVER does the 2 for one route.................why............?
  21. Actually Doc just said on his pre-game show that Diaz and Talley have both practiced the last few days, and it will be the proverbial "game time decision". Even a few minutes should help with depth. Illinois is battling some injuries of their own so...................who knows? I don't expect to win, but it would be nice to be competitive...............
  22. I especially liked Doc's quote.............. "I ain't smart, but I ain't stupid." Herewith nominated for "coaches quote of the year"..........
  23. The problem with this argument is that we can look at a miniature single payer system right here in the United States. It's working quite well at the moment . . . in fact . . . better than much of the private market. ("The Best Care Anywhere." http://www.washingto...01.longman.html) Second, I think your visceral reaction to the word "socialist" is exactly the sort of thing that redblooded was talking about. I'm guessing redblooded doesn't want to add an S.R. after U.S. I'm guessing he isn't a fan of Mao. Yet somehow we can't have a conversation about the very real problem of paying for health care without references to the most evil examples of socialism. He's right . . . if you look at the numbers there isn't any argument. Single payer is the only way to adequately risk pool to lower costs and increase availability. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll see it in my lifetime because the insurance companies are making enormous profits that they then dump into scary advertisements and lobbying. The AMA isn't far behind. Exactly. And a massive part of the cost of the private insurance is overhead, Mountains of paper work and all the salaries of the people who just move papers around, people who make descicions based on spread sheets weather or not to approve something a doctor views an needed for a patient. The weak minded in this country need to start thinking for themselves, actually paying attention to facts and stop believing the right wing, and the people who are profiteering of the missery of others. Stop falling for the scare tactics, and the word 'socalist.' The true irony is the many of the people most against universal health care call themselves Christans. They need to take a min, and ask themselves (like they claim to on many other matters) 'What would Jesus do? Would Jesus support universal health care?' And you believe the bolded red above does NOT happen in a federal bureaucracy.............?? I know the last few times I've attempted to navigate the morass that masquerades as "the Fed", I was unbelievably frustrated.......! Just sayin........... Go look at the margins in Medicare/Medicaid and the VA system and compare them to the overhead in the private health insurance market. I think you might be very, very, surprised. That's one facet for sure. But in the government sector there is very little incentive on the personnel side, since rarely are incompetents fired. Just a fact. And, with no incentives (or disincentives) unfortunately a lot of folks don't seem to possess the requisite pride to put forth a bona fide effort. So productivity suffers. jmo
  24. Not to hijack the thread, but is it simple to add a pix to a post ?? (not utube........just a picture). When I've tried to transfer a pix from a document file, I can't get it to copy and paste into the post or reply section. I admit I'm WAAAAY behind the curve on this type of stuff, but if it's simple, I'd enjoy adding it to the repertoire. Appreciate any info from you creative genius types...................
