Anyone else hear the scuttlebutt that Mahers fumble on the punt occurred because he was looking to the sidelines for the signal that we were about to attempt a fake punt......? (I know it's old news about last weeks game, but given his previous sure-handedness , it might make sense). Just wondered if anyone else had heard that explanation...........

Been defending him all along..................but am embarrassed for him today. Especially the explanation....................wow, talk about denial. This is NOT the same demeanor we watched in college. Unfortunately, with only a couple of games on today.................he had a HUGE stage to burnish his image and instead went down in flames...............and is now really hurting his team............. I don't know what it will take to resurrect his rep.............................but it's going to be a while...................AND he will be targeted..........

I think Oregon will be better than people think down the road................they have a bunch of shooters who can drain it from all over............. I also believe Creighton will be a tougher match-up for us than tonight.......... Pretty good crowd however, AND.............you DON'T make that call on Ubel away from the basket with 2 minutes left !! Silver haired Ref FAR more interested in being the SHOW than in being a ref. Good comeback for Doc..............but we need to be winning these games..............especially at home.

I don't think it's a given that he will be an instant success. We still don't know the extent of the NCAA's punishment. That game could be a burner. Who do you put on McDermott. Toney?? And there center that transferred from Rutgers will eat JBD alive inside. Almeida would be a lovely bonus in the paint for this game, though he won't be playing probably. Doc confirmed today that ("barring unforeseen circumstances).......Almeida wil redshirt...................still not recovered from surgery evidently...............

When we stuff Iowa and win a modest (but still superior to a Big 12 also-ran) bowl game, we will finish at 10-3. Before the season, most rational folks were expecting 2-4 losses given the new coaches/ new conference/ daunting schedule/ player losses, etc. Yes, there is currently plenty of grumbling/bitching/whining around because of the timing and style of the losses. And, it is tough to get the stench of Saturday out of our mouth quickly. However, 10-3 would fulfill that objective preseason expectancy. This is by NO means suggestive that we should ever be SETTLING for this record................. but given our expectations going in………………..would a 10-3 final be cause for optimism during the eight month off-season approaching?

Agree. If I recall correctly, when Sporting News was grading coaching hires 4 years ago, it's salivating incestuous lap-dogging of Rich Rodgiquez was beyond obscene. Typically, they listed Bo as a C-. Since then the mag has regressed from a weekly to a bi-monthly to a monthly (and when I phoned the number they offered for a refund after the latest cutback..........it mysteriously went unanswered for almost a week). So their credibility is non-existent. However, in spite of themselves, they have identified a few of our weaknesses and we must own up to that. Beyond that.................it's a hit piece.

However, I disagree with the punt block call....................we were going to get possession across midfield with momentum.............................too high of risk/reward for the few times a block is successful ......... The only other HUGE coaching gaffe I would point out is being totally unprepared for the fake field goal...............It was such an obvious call to fake it ............(especially with out offense struggling if we had to take over and go 95 yards.........)

There's been other comical efforts by Republicans that were no more than a few pages, just to say they do in fact have a proposal.
