  1. Hey, Ceresco is a nice town. Yes it is. My niece and her family live there. A nice place if Beau wants the quiet life.
  2. Have faith boys! I think there are a few commits on the horizon. We picked up a good DE yesterday. Some probably want to announce on signing day and probably quite a few have narrowed their choices to us and a couple others. The kids nowdays want it to be a big deal and get their face on tv somewhere. We all want our 15 minutes. That being said this class will finish out strong. How strong is yet to be determined.
  3. Gregory pulled the trigger. Time for a TE....maybe from California to do the same.
  4. I hope the young guns on D are taking notes this year because they will need to be ready from the first game. No waiting 7 or 8 games into the season for the tide to rise. On offense there won't be enough footballs on the field nor QB's to throw them to the plethora of wide receivers we will have. If a few of the young linemen like Whitaker, Thurston, and Stirrup come on strong this team will be a force to be reckoned with.
  5. If he wants to live in Ceresco fine. Teasing of course. Like any Husker fan I want him wearing scarlet and cream next year.
  6. Using my Jedi mind trick to "convince" him Lincoln is his new home.
  7. Welcome aboard the Husker train Mr. Gregory. We look forward to watching you in scarlet and cream.
  8. I'm not one to over hype players based on high school film and am in no way an NFL scout who can break down all aspects of a QB throwing the ball. With that said, it's pretty obvious Tommy is a superior passer over Stanton. You can see their film or look at the numbers: Armstrong senior year: 58.6 completion %, 1965 yards, 29 TD's, 2 INT Stanton junior year: 2435 yards, 13 TD's, 8 INT Both played for the highest level high school competition in Texas and California. Stanton is probably a superior runner and questionably a better athlete. I think both can be successful in their own way and it is good to have more than one solid QB. I just don't think Tommy is the Jamal Turner type of athlete some may think that you put on the field. He is essentially a QB only I don't necessarily disagree with your conclusions, however it is difficult to make a comparison based on two different players, two different systems under two different coaches. Last year was Stantons first year to play Qb so he was still learning the position by the end of the season. Both seem to be great field generals and can move a team in their own way. I'm excited to see what they can do.
  9. An interesting read. Good to know Miles is still working on the recruits. I continue to be impressed.
  10. I didn't get to see the first half. I would say Fisher had a career day against Michigan! He was flying to the ball all night. Great game by all of the Huskers though. Keep it going Big Red.
  11. As unbelievable as it seems, I can see a scenario where Texas no longer attracts the highest caliber of players in Texas. I'm seeing some chinks in the armor of Coach Brown and his program. If there are doubts about whether Brown will be there in the long term, recruits may go to more stable programs like A & M, LSU and SEC schools. It would be nice to attract a few of those kids to NU but it wouldn't be an easy sell. Hoza would thrive in the Big 10.
  12. As much as I want to say undefeated....I'll go with 7-6.
  13. I hope no one thinks the turnaround to a top 3 finish in the Big 10 from our current place in the cellar will happen overnight. Miles past pattern has been yearly improvement in recruiting, coaching up players and developing a system that lets the players be sucessful. The 3 players we currently have recruited for the 2013 class will be solid pieces in what in the future will be a contender. Yes we need a few more "bigs". TM will keep digging till he finds them.
  14. I'm betting he plays in the next game. http://tireball.com/ncaafb/2012/10/21/braxton-miller-fine-after-injury-that-forced-him-from-purdue-game/
  15. The only thing I can think of here is if it was enough for it to technically be a personal foul, which would be applied to the end of the play? I thought the officials had a poor game. On the 4th down we went for, we lined up and snapped the ball. They came running in and stopped the play and reset the clock, but never explained why? This allowed Northwestern to see the formation we wanted to run, get set and make adjustments. We probably wouldn't of gotten it anyway, but it's something little that pisses me of off. Another thing that happened was when we stopped Northwestern on 3rd down about 2 feet short of the first down. For some reason the officials came on to measure, even though it was obvious that it was nowhere near a first down. The extra time for measurement pretty much gave Northwestern a free timeout, and time to decide if they wanted to go for it, rather than being hurried to make a decision of going for it or not. It's just annoying. It's annoying BECAUSE we're always putting ourselves in positions where the refs calls can lose the game for us. That bugs the hell out of me. But you're right. I want me some zebra blood most Saturdays. On this particular play, the NW coach asked for the measurement even though everyone could see it was short. It is legal for a coach to ask for a measurement. One thing I saw that made me wonder was the defensive players for NW who were "injured" then walk off the field on those last two drives. If I remember, NW did that last year trying to have more time to call a defensive play. I talked to a friend this morning who recorded the game and said when Stafford left the line of scrimmage after the snap, the NW player grabbed his facemask.Unfortunately Stafford decided to retaliate and that is what the ref saw.
  16. Playing at Nebraska would be a lot closer to his home in Tenn than UCLA. He reopened because UCLA has verbals from (7) O linemen. He has a good working relationship with Coach Joseph. It would be nice to reel in this young man. He has an excellent skill set and potential at the next level. A fine young man to boot....the kind of kid who makes us proud on and off the field.
  17. TM was very green at the position when he came to Nebr. He is still learning it and continues to improve. He may not be the best decision maker on every play but he gives all he has in every game and I love that about him. Q is another player who has improved his skills and is a leader on the field. They belong in the Husker Family and I'm glad they are here.
  18. I don't have the numbers but I would say the coaching tree from Bill Snyder is longer than the tree from our TO. The Stoops boys, Mark Mangino, Jim Leavitt, and Brett Bielema to name a few. TO may have the same numbers but few have risen to head coaching jobs with success. What amazes me about BS is the fact he has resurrected that program twice and the fact he does it with players no one else recruited for the most part. Aside from the Huskers KSU has been my favorite team for a long time. I would be curious what offense TO would be running had he chosen to come back as a coach.
  19. Urb must be able to heal a broken body because I heard Braxton was released from the hospital with no injuries.
  20. Some have said subUrban Meyer has otherworldly abilities. He must be able to do hands on healing because I heard Braxton Miller was released from the hospital with no injuries.
  21. They remind me of a few Husker teams. Play hard defense. Don't commit turnovers. Ball control offense. Smart Qb who plays within the system.
  22. Great job by the team to overcome the negative and pull out the win. O and D both did the job when they had to. Not pretty but it goes in the record book as a win.
  23. Great come back win by the Big Red! Thanks to both the O and the D for not quitting. Good job by Maher on the punts.
  24. All the credit to the team for that win. Great job of not quitting when it would have been easy to quit.
