  1. I think they're potentially capable of cloning Kim Jong-il from semen samples (collected from various locales in the royal palace). But I don't think they're capable of creating a chip of which you can only eat just one.
  2. Serious lawlz. I'm still not entirely sure that I believe they actually have a fan base at all.
  3. It is interesting...because he says that SHE saw HIM. Which, for the 100th time, confirms that he's either ultra-stupid or an ultra-jackass.
  4. Our team largely goes against the grain of almost every B1G opponent. Not even Ohio State has the offensive team speed and dynamics at various positions (take your pick) to do what we do. They're close, but not on our level. Northwestern is in the same ball park, but not close. But our defense is lacking, which is unlike any of the major players in the Big 10. We fix that, we start making our B1G opponents out to look like hammered dog sh!t. Just an opinion.
  5. Exactly. I'm starting to think more and more that the rep that the B1G has is not accurate, or it's at least more complicated than people make it out to be. B1G defenses are good. Really good. And admittedly, they're much better than ours, in general. Look at how teams largely contained Ohio State. Ohio State went undefeated because its own defense is pretty great. If the starting 11 for even just Michigan State, Penn State, or Wisconsin were on our team...I say we probably play in Miami this last year. Because our offense is legitimately just that good. Edit: I mean the starting 11 on defense for any of those three teams, of course.
  6. Exactly. We broke character really badly on defense three times this season. In the one game where it really counted, it cost us big, and did more to influence our opinion of the season than anything. But our offense is really nothing shy of incredible, all things considered. I won't be a bit surprised if we don't score less than 35 in every single game we play this next season.
  7. Yeah, it's something to do. But knapp's description is right; it's overpriced and takes place during the hottest time of the summer. But there are funnel cakes...
  8. Agreed there. I think Landlord's point was probably more to point out that a lot of us Westerners don't realize that slavery (in its various, evil forms) still exists in large quantities. It may not be present (or overtly present) in 1st world countries, and so we take that for granted. It's not a topic that really gets any news coverage, and it happens largely in the third world.
  9. Agreed, Landlord. Those statistics are staggering, regardless of the ratio of population growth to slavery.
  10. How many people do college football players meet in a week? I know that you're smart enough to not believe that what you just said is what you really think about the situation. It cannot possibly be your actual, honest conclusion. You're in full-on melt down mode with that. You're dodging the utter simplicity of the point being made. It's almost not even worth it to continue, because we both know that comment is beyond ridiculous. Don't make us quote the SI transcript again, Joe.
  11. You make a great case for this...considering that she's proven to not be real.
  12. I could make this point 1000 times over and not get tired of how hilariously stupid AND simple it is: In the fall, he described being in the same place at the same time with his dear Lennay. In real life. The kind of real life that's, you know...real. This leaves you with two options: 1. He's one of the stupidest people you've ever heard of (for getting catfished so hard he allowed himself to be convinced "she saw him" in person but that he didn't see her. 2. He's one of the biggest jackasses you've ever heard of for intentionally hyping up a situation using national media attention to do so when he knew it was false. Is it possible we'll never be 100% sure which one it is? Sure. But either way...
  13. That looks like a pretty original concept in that novel, knapp. I pulled this one back off the shelf recently: It's a collection of short stories from DFW.
  14. I've been trying to come up with the perfectly worded line to tie in the whole Suh and McCarron's girlfriend thing, but you nailed it. Hilarious man.
  15. Ha, that's pretty funny, Lyons. I should have bought more. MLB, it was a "get 'em in the store so they'll buy something else" type of a sale, definitely not typical. $7.00 or $8.00 is normally about right. IIRC, N Street usually carries the Great Divide beers. They don't always have them in the cooler but they usually had them warm on the shelf. Definitely worth the time and money if you can find it. Very nice! Hoping to look for some very soon there, then. N Street would be right on the way home from work.
  16. I really love these threads, in all seriousness. They're a lot of fun. That's an interesting point. It's also interesting to think of the bloodshed and strife that it took to get to that point. Ironic, in a way. Then I also think of the way that the West has found new ways to exploit lesser developed countries for our own benefit in this current age. See: exploited/abused workers that produce the goods we buy. Not trying to start a political argument there, it just came to mind.
  17. An encouraging stat that shows our consistency to produce great players. Pretty awesome.
  18. I know...but I think this is a really simple point: Joe says it's obvious that he really thought she died when he thought she died. But she's not real. And he describes meeting her in person. Those two things are not reconcileable, by my account.
  19. Joe...in the fall he described meeting her in person. How do you reconcile this fact with what you just posted above?
  20. A neutral comment - is it possible that your company pre-adjusted its withholding amount in anticipation of the "cliff" situation but will soon adjust it back down?
  21. Yeah, that fumble was agonizing. I really felt the comeback looming, and then "bam." Nothing.
  22. Agreed, accountability. In addition, Boyd Epley talked about "recruiting bone structure, then building linemen." It seems that was as much an art as it was a science in those years.
  23. Let's just put it this way, Nick: I get quite the thrill out of seeing dudes kick each other in the nutsacks. I can only hope this post makes its way into the "out of context" thread in the shed.
