  1. And sadly, folks (myself included) blamed Martinez for this. Dag, seems like it is a systemic problem that was not related only to Martinez. The whole team suffers from this.
  2. Surprisingly there are lots. It sucks because back when he was hired I thought he was the right guy for the job. He lost me for good today. I don't give a f#*k what he said in his press-conference. It is painful watching our team f#*k themselves over and over and over and over and over.... What is more painful is watching teams come in and take it to us. Our lines are soft. Teams do to us what we used to do to them, and that just boggles my mind. I'm sick of this wussy spread crap. Recruit for a definitive system. Year 6 I still have no idea what we are trying to accomplish on O. Spread mixed with power run, mixed with the option and zone read with basic principles of the WCO thrown in to compliment the smash mouth, "take what the defense gives us" has equalled an epic fail in all phases. I am still of the opinion that you can not recruit an OL who can excel in all phases of the game ie pass pro, run blocking, pulling, cut block etc..... develop a scheme, become great at it and recruit those kids. It lessens the available recruits, but also lessens teams looking for their services. Recruit kids who exhibit mental and physical toughness. Look past the stars and see a kid with "lesser" abilities who excels. Kids who have faced adversity in HS and know what it takes to win. Recruit mean. You either are or your not. You can't teach mean. I too, hate seeing teams punch us in the mouth series after series until we quit. Tapping out because the hits are to hard (my opinion). Our guys getting laid out instead of laying guys out. There is an old adage that holds true, "The more you bleed in training, the less you bleed in combat". Maybe we train to "soft" in practice and the weight room......
  3. I've had the feeling for weeks that BO looks like he's mentally and physically exhausted. I don't think Bo was told he wasn't coming back but I do think that he wasn't given any assurances either. He was just given a contract extension last season. What more does he want? If he doesn't act like a lunatic against Iowa he keeps his job. Ferentz was a bigger lunatic than Bo.....not sure if TV showed it...probably not, since it wasn't Bo....but he had to be restrained by 3 assistant coaches and looked like he was at a boxing presser....literally fighting with assistants to get at ref....for minutes.....total loss of control.....no flag...and probably no tv coverage.....Bo needed to act crazy....the place was a like a funeral and his team got screwed..... How come no one blames a basketball coach for drawing an intentional technical to get crowd and team fired up... Bo didn't do it on purpose, but it was warranted. I personally could care less how Ferentz acted. That's like a kid telling his parents, "I failed a test, but Johnny failed too so it's okay". Ferentz coaches at Iowa, Bo coaches at Nebraska, we have a higher standard to uphold here. And Bo has consistently made a joke of this program. That maniac just hung 38 on us, at home, on senior day.............Oh and on national tv
  4. With the rumors and speculation coupled with the previous coaching and even AD search, I would like to think that all sides (Harv and Eich) have learned a lesson and have a candidate in mind who has signed a non-disclosure and has agreed in part to accepting the NU job. (Dependent that the admn wanted Bo fired to begin with). If Bo is fired with no one having already been contacted and committed, we are screwed. If this is the case then those above Bo need to pack as well.
  5. Not this many. One or two perhaps, but not this many. Perhaps Dobson does not do enough functional movements and does training in 1 plane. perhaps he is less concerned with mobility. Who knows. It does appear that we often field the physically inferior team. Kills me to even write that. Teams are doing to us, what we did for years. Run the ball right down our throats and win.
  6. Too funny. LOL. On the serious side, I would have Ron Brown coach the bowl. The guy who coaches our punt returners? Thanks, but no thanks. Coach of our RB's...the best unit we have consistently fielded....thank you very much. Unit? It's one position. If you can find one good running back, you can field a good RB unit. RB's. Interesting that like 2010 with an injured Martinez, we continue to play an obviously injured AA. WTH. This staff either has no clue or doesn't care.
  7. Yeah, and it's just mind-boggling. He has the most loyal fanbase at his disposal and he reacts like this. What other D1A school is he going to go to with fans this supporting, this forgiving? I think he just talked himself out of a head coaching job for the foreseeable future. Nobody's going to hire him for that kind of program-representing role with this kind of flameout. This. Better to keep silent and let people think you a fool instead of opening it and proving them correct.
  8. 1) We have no faith in our back up RB's. None. 2) Beck can't call a complete game to save his life 3) We have NO ST's. We should not even attempt to have a punt returner there. Stupid. 4) We have no concept of the fundamentals. 5) We have no concept of trying to "knock the ball" loose. 6) Pressure works. Really, it does. We just don't bring it. Not against a statue of a QB and not against his back up. 7) I started a thread about the kudos to the staff, they have done a good job keeping it together. Today it all fell apart. 8) Bo has no desire to stay. He is burned out and completely believes the us vs them. 9) We lost to Minnie and Iowa. Let that sink in. 10) We are on our way to becoming a bottom feeder in the B1G. The team no one fears. 11) We might have the dumbest staff in the FBS 12) We have a lot of talent coming back, hope it doesn't include the coaches. The kids and fans deserve better.
  9. I think it is an issue as being evidenced by the manhandling by Minnie, PSU and Iowa. Not to mention the hands on the hips, the "tap out" after 2 plays, inability to hustle down field etc.... WE ARE GETTING OWNED IN THE TRENCHES
  10. Congrats guys. Y'all have stood strong in the face of a lot of adversity. You have represented NU well on and off the field. No BS like some other places. Thanks! GBR
  11. The Bo debate has been beat to death, but I wanted to add what a great job (for the most part) the staff has done. I am not a fan of some on the staff, but I believe in giving credit where credit is due. We were able to go into the Big house and Happy valley and come away with wins. I feat that has only happened 3 times in the B1G IIRC (in 20 years!). We also broke the record that after playing MSU, the teams have lost like the past 8 or 9 games. We won, in Happy Valley, in the snow, in OT, on Senior day.........With a patch work OL and our 3rd string QB. Fyfe (sp?) would have been the back up. The staff has cobbled together 8 wins and can possibly get 10. Again all with a patch work OL, the 2nd and 3rd string QB, the Stache, Burch, another kid who played last week at WR whose name escapes me (2 catches IIRC), a defense which after 8 games appears to have turned the corner, not to mention completely ignoring the 3rd phase of the game in ST. All while missing the services of the B1G player of the year last year in Martinez, no JT, an injured Bell, a "play through the pain" in AA, no all B1G Spenser Long, a mash unit on OL, numerous Fresh and RS on the D and again no punting game. Somehow with tape gate, the rumors of firing, injuries, fans BS on twitter/facebook, silence of the AD, national media coverage etc the kids didn't quit. They have played through all the BS and injuries and didn't quit. Th staff has done something right in keeping them focused and still playing despite the on and off field BS. I hope the beat the crap out of Iowa tomorrow and Iowa backs out of Black Friday games so we can start a rivalry with someone we want, not a manufactured rivalry. I hope we draw an SEC team in the bowl and finally exercise those demons and beat them. I might not like what I have seen at times this year, but like the team, I am not quitting. GBR.
  12. Penn St. I haven't forgotten the "L" shaped endzone and like to beat them every chance we can. They play old school, I want to go back to more physical smash mouth. Good historical programs. Did I mention I haven't forgotten the end zone?
  13. Yep. He will be playing with a chip on his shoulder. Assante was always good for a penalty, but that dude flat out laid some wood. Receivers short armed when ever he was close. I miss that and O'Hanlon's open field tackling. I like the potential of Leroy and Coop back there next year. <img class="UMSRatingIcon" id="ums_img_tooltip" />
  14. Not over look them. Run, run, run. If RKIII starts, play action please or misdirection. Anything to slow up their pressure. Pressure, Pressure, Pressure. No TO's Get TO's This isn't Iowa from last year.
  15. Dude was tough as nails and went above and beyond to get better. I wonder how we would have faired with a HEALTHY Martinez with complete control of the O. The fumbles would still be there (not a knock on Martinez) as evidenced by them without him and we would still have the bone headed penalties and dropped passes, but his speed could have been the difference. He deserves several minutes of applause. Would love to see him take a knee in the victory formation when we are up by 21!
  16. And Oregon.......... <img class="UMSRatingIcon" id="ums_img_tooltip" />
  17. Barring self inflicted wounds, injuries and the occasional WTH Beck play calls, we could be a really, really good team. Special teams actually gave a spark and probably saved the game.
  18. The name is Tim Beck <img class="UMSRatingIcon" id="ums_img_tooltip" />
  19. and it is a pass, to get it to the far rt hash <img class="UMSRatingIcon" id="ums_img_tooltip" />
  20. I would love an AA TD and then a F'u to the ref
