  1. We are currently #23 in the country in yards per rushing attempt at 5.4. Newby is averaging 5.5, Janovich is at 6.9, Ozigbo is at 8.2. How much more consistent do we have to be?
  2. At halftime, we were averaging 7.5 yards per running play and 4.9 yards per passing play. But it was the running game that was struggling in his eyes.
  3. So let's look at this. Plays by drive: 1 - After an incomplete pass, we ran for 7 then ran for 2, punted on 4th & 1 2 - Run for 6, run for 1, incomplete pass on 3rd & 3, punt 3 - Run for 2, Pass for 5, incomplete pass, punt 2nd Quarter 4 - Run for 11, run for 4, incomplete pass, run for 32, incomplete pass, TD run for 19 5 - Incomplete pass, pass for 6, incomplete pass, punt 6 - Run for 5, incomplete pass, run for -3, punt 7 - Started possession with 3:38 in the half on own 21 yard line So where are all these negative plays early on that he's talking about? There was only one negative run (by TA) in the first half and it didn't come until late in the second quarter. The possession after our best running plays, he called three straight passes and we punted. He's apparently just making things up to fit how he wants to call the game.
  4. I was interested to see what Langsdorf would bring. I figured he'd be more of a passing guy but I'm fine with a better passing offense paired with a strong running game. Through four games, I thought we should have run more but generally liked what I saw, hoping we would find a different mix of running plays that would work to our strengths better. After this last game and listening to Langsdorf's comments since, I don't think he gets it. He's basically a "throw when I want to, run if I have to" playcaller. I don't have the exact quote in front of me but when asked why they didn't run more right after the game, he responded with something like "I think we did". If you can't watch that game going on and figure out that we would have been MUCH better off to run the ball most of the time, that's pretty bad. And now he's in full CYA mode to explain his play-calling:
  5. VV back at practice today. Davie, Bando, and Freedom sat out.
  6. Gebbia-to-Dismuke up for Play of the Week - they're way behind in the voting
  7. Jaleel Laguins also visiting this weekend. Nehemiah Augustus not visiting this weekend - will visit for the Northwestern game.
  8. I don't totally disagree, Tommy takes some of the blame on this regardless. It was stupid to even have a pass play called, but if they told him not to throw it, then he shouldn't have. If Tommy didn't understand the situation they were in and the consequences of letting that ball fly, then that's an issue too. To me, you get the impression Tommy doesn't have a grasp for some of this stuff. I see it with a few of the guys. They just seem to lose awareness. And as for the second bolded part, you're totally right. That's exactly what would've happened and anyone that says otherwise is a farkin' liar. I already posted this, but Husker fans and the media are smart enough to realize that a timeout taken with a few seconds left on the play clock would have been forgiven. Just make sure you run the damn ball on 3rd down. Exactly this. Taking a timeout with :01 on the playclock to ensure that you properly execute the most important play of the drive (or game) is entirely the reason you have timeouts. You're missing the point Saunders. Again. Didn't say it wasn't important, didn't say that wasn't why you have timeouts. I said he was right. If Nebraska had called a timeout, people would've came to this board and said "what the f#*k are they doing calling a timeout there and letting Illinois defense prepare for that third down play!" blah blah blah!.......That's exactly how it would've went. These same people claiming that they would've been "okay" with the timeout in that situation, are the same ones that were flipping out after the BYU game after we actually DID call a timeout to make sure we were on the same page for that Hail Mary play. and those same people said "what the f#*k are they doing calling a timeout there and letting BYU offense prepare for that play!" blah blah blah!....... This isn't a debate about the importance of timeouts, or when to use them, the point that you've missed obviously, was about the reactions of dumbass Husker fans is usually negative no matter what the f#*k the team or coaches do. Yeah, those two are not even remotely the same situation. Yeah, calling a timeout in the final seconds of a game to ensure that your team is on the same page and understands the importance of the play. Yep, not even remotely the same situation......... No, it's not. When you're on offense, you're the one in control. Teams let the clock run down to the last second before calling a timeout all the time so they can make sure they get the play they want to run and get everyone on the same page. On defense it's completely different. You can't tell everyone exactly what to do because you don't know what the offense is going to do. You can get a general setup but it's more beneficial to the offense to be able to tell everyone what they want them to do and the defense still just has to react. All that being said, I'm not one who has an issue with the timeout at the end of the BYU game. I would have rather we didn't call it but I don't think it's a big deal either way. We definitely could have used one against Illinois, especially when we were so rushed. I appreciate the personal attack, though.

  10. No. Not the "fantasy" where the Huskers are actually good. The "real" kind of Fantasy Football.
