  2. Ding ding ding.. I have always thought this was a very overrated receiver. Dont get me wrong. He has made some nice catches and a clutch one here and there. Just not a game in and game out guy. He is #3 in Husker history in number of 100 yard receiving games. He is fourth on the list for yards in a season (2012). He is #7 and #9 on the list for receptions in a season. He is #5 on the list for receiving TDs in a season. He is #3 on the list for receiving TDs in a career. He is #3 in consecutive games with a reception. He has been held without a catch in two games in his career - the first game of his freshman year and the 2012 Iowa game that looked like it belonged in the 1920s. He needs 158 yards to become Nebraska's all-time receiving yardage leader. He needs 11 catches to become Nebraska's all-time receiving leader. He is #8 all-time in all-purpose yardage. I think it's possible that you aren't giving him enough credit.
  3. I've seen several reports over the last month or so that are skeptical of him actually ending up an Nebraska. No particular reason is ever given. It would seem that his injury has healed as he is playing. But it sounds like we're not in contact with him as much as you might expect. My best guess is that since he hasn't been playing football for that long and then he lost last year to injury and now isn't playing varsity that we are worried about how much he is developing as a QB. He's supposedly a great athlete that was learning to play QB but his chances to learn have been cut back significantly. Perhaps we're worried about that much risk in a class this small. And we might not want to take two QBs again with how many we currently have and how young they all are. Just speculation.

  15. No, I'm not trying to start anything. Just noting that he's getting interest from other big programs. DJ ‏@DaishonNeal90 2m2 minutes ago Good talk with Notre Dame today.

  17. Obviously the solution is you need to be on HuskerBoard more often. But I don't know if there are any options or if something would be put in place.
  18. In case you haven't seen this on BTN. Says "this fall" so I would think it should be soon.
  19. Forgot that the Huskers open next season against BYU in Memorial. Would have been fun to see him play. Perhaps not now.
  20. He definitely had enough pressure to make it difficult. But, as is also very common, once he got some pressure and his mechanics suffered, he was rushing and didn't take time on some throws when he did have good protection. Likely that will get better with experience. But his mechanics on short throw are almost always lacking and have been from the time he got here. He looks great on deep throws because he has a strong arm but also has to step into the throws to get them 50-60 yards downfield. On short throws, he rarely transfers his weight correctly because a lot of the time his arm is strong enough to get it there anyway.
  21. 13 tackles, 2 TFLs including a sack. Two catches for 46 yards and a TD. Apparently is a tackling machine.
  22. Dan Hoppen ‏@danhoppen 16m16 minutes ago In six games, De’Mornay Pierson-El nearly has as many punt return yards (334) as Neb had the last two seasons combined (340).
  23. Mechanics - and especially footwork mechanics - are very hard to change because most guys have been doing things a certain way for many years before they get here. Old habits and all. Honestly, I think Tommy's main issue is he has such a strong arm that he's always been able to get away with sloppy footwork. Kind of like Brett Farve in a way with a great arm and gunslinger mentality he thinks he can always get the ball where he wants. That's not totally a bad thing but at the college level the windows are smaller and there are different routes that he probably didn't throw a lot in HS where it doesn't works as well. It's been said by the coaches that he has improved in that are but, as is very common, when the heat gets turned up it's easy to revert back to how you've always done it.
