  1. The D came around in the second half. Bo commented that they may have prepared for too many thing - they didn't really know what SMiss would do. SMiss had 25 carries for 95 yards (under 4 ypc) and was 1/8 throwing for 15 yards. Holding anyone to about 100 yards in a half is pretty good. Still lots of room for improvement but at least they were headed in the right direction. LOVED the pressure we brought at times.
  2. I really like what I saw from Abdullah. There were a couple times I thought the ball might come out but he held on. With good ball security added to the rest of his skills, he really becomes dangerous.
  3. Great work by Martinez but also some very nice catches by the receivers - not a drop. Not every pass was perfectly placed but all but a couple were catchable and the receivers brought most of them in.
  4. Probably not in the mix against the spread - lots of nickel package out there today. When we're back to the regular 4-3, I bet he'll be back.
  5. Jesse Palmer - leader of the "Taylor Martinez for Heisman" campaign.
  6. Martinez 26/34 - 76.5% - 349 yds - 10.3 ypa - 5 TDs Nearly unbelievable numbers. Great game.
  7. Over 500 yards of offense - and still more than a quarter to go.
  8. Had to go back and watch the TD again. We were unbalanced left - RT was on the end of the line so the middle of the trips was on the line and ineligible. However, the middle WR never moved after the snap. CRAZY play design.
  9. We'll see how much clamoring for Carnes there is this year. He was supposed to be our "savior" last year (according to some) and now he's #4. Hmmmmmm.......
  10. You mean when he was in another first year of an offense when he didn't have any spring ball to get up to speed, throwing to mostly freshmen, sophomores and somewhat injured receivers - some of whom may or may not have been giving their best effort all the time. Yeah, I think the timing could have been better. I think it will be.
  11. His Freshman year he was two completions from being over 60% for the year. IIRC, Beck's offense at Kansas relied on short passes (that is, the type that are easy to complete). I wouldn't be surprised if he's 65%.
  12. Who said that? Plenty of talk about bias from Fox . . . which is accurate. Did someone actually say to not believe a single word? Well, actually, yes.
  13. And the Seahawks apparently trade Tarvaris Jackson to clear up space. Not a surprise - only that they thought he could be the answer in the first place.
  14. Huskers up 2-0. Hopefully the third set win come quicker than last night.
  15. Understatement of the Day: This Haggerty girl could be really good. Huskers looking good in the first set.
  16. <snip> Obama urges Congress to boost public sector jobs <snip> So where's the bemoaning? Do you actually read the articles?
  17. No. 1. Your "agreed upon" hedge is particularly interesting since no agreement was reached. Obama's administration said that they were aiming for $4 trillion in deficit reduction. "Somewhat agreed upon." Heh. 2. "The deal fell apart." Like I was saying . . . the GOP refused to agree to tax increases. What do you think killed the deal? Obama wanting to cut more spending than the GOP would agree to cut? Still accurate. We're talking about two different agreements. Obviously the entire package was not agreed upon (your point). That doesn't mean that some of the issues were not (my point): Maybe the GOP backed out. Or maybe Obama made changes to a figure that, at least to Boehner, seemed to be agreed upon:
  18. Looking at the title I was sure the thread had to be started by Bucky. Really, he hasn't surprised me anywhere along the way. He was successful in the same NC St. program that produced Phillip Rivers - another QB who was supposed to struggle in the NFL. Had a great year at Wisky. Didn't necessarily think he'd start right away but his competition isn't exactly stellar - a QB who's been below average despite being given several chances and another who was supposed to be a golden boy based on one good day subbing on the best offense in the league? Not surprising that the other two aren't that great. However, still props to Wilson for playing well.
