  1. Extra points for "bunch of malarkey". Extra points for "bullcrap"
  2. It was me. This makes more sense. I'm glad its important for you to search for my approval.
  3. You talkin to me? Sounds like you love guys on their backs... Decrease the weights and focus on form and reps. Pshh.
  4. You need a mix amigo. I know you just want to have big bulky strongman that can't move playing football but that isn't how it works Troof. There are a lot of explosive/power muscle groups that get worked with high intensity cardio type exercises. From day 1 Phillip said most lifts guys will be doing will be from a standing position. I get it bench is important, but it's better to incorporate bench press movements while you're standing and moving. I don't think we want our men laying down and bench pressing the other team. And, sh#t a lineman doing lunches and squats is actually lifting several hundred lbs of his body weight - he's just doing it in fast motion.
  5. He's got really good vision and he can move effectively in the pocket. Also had some good runs on the designed qb draws.
  6. I remember seeing Imani score his first td. It was a goal line, short yardage play. I remember saying "this kid is going to break the career td's mark" because he's such a bruiser and excellent short yardage back. I agree. The old staff tried to turn him into a dancing bear and didn't let him pound the rock for 4 yards and cloud of dust. Given the talent level of the other RB's on the team, I think he'll have a hard time getting quality reps. I still think he's a stud along the goal line and short yardage, though.
  7. I thought the talent and prowess definitely goes to Darlington. There was a play where he took a snap in the gun and went through all 3 reads and then checked down to a running back open in the flat where he ran 8 yards for a first down. I know it's early and it wasn't true game stress but the fact that a redshirt freshman was progressing through reads is the most positive QB news we've had in a long time.
  8. I think there's a chance he gets there but it won't be in the traditional sense. I remember this from another team where they run the jet sweep out of the gun and kind of toss the ball to the sweeper. If they do that quite a bit, and they count those as receptions then I think there's a chance he gets there. That might be nitpicking a little bit, but theres a chance. I think the true measure of his success will be, as someone previously mentioned, his all purpose yards.
  9. Yeah, it's the group think deal where they take a side and stick to it and bash like hell anyone of an opposing view. Then, just before the opposing view is about to win the day, the former group quickly flips their view to the winning side and claim it as being their own all along. It happened when Cali was canned too--all the Cali lovers instantly became haters. I think Mark Twain or some other smart guy had a pithy quote describing this phenomenon, though I can't recall it at this time. Anyway, c'est la vie... I have to disagree. I was a huge supporter of his until about mid-way of last years season. People were coming up to me (I live out of state) and asking me if I still wanted him as a coach after what he said about the fans in the leaked audio. Until half way, I was saying yes. After that, I wanted him gone ASAP. Can't exactly remember what changed my mind, but it came quicker then a F5 tornado. As for Billy, I was pissed the second I heard that he was going to be our next coach. Don't know how, but my gut was telling me it was a mistake. Once I heard he received an extension, I was cussing and screaming "why?". Your situation is not what I am describing. What I'm talking about is when right up to the point where the seat is so hot and evryone starts seeing the writing on the wall. That's when the disingenuous flippers flip and pretend they were onboard all along. Sort of like what happens in a political revolution. Personally, I supported BOP since he maintained the 9.5 game winning average and knew it would be a big time crap shoot trying to replace him. Thought he did a decent job holding up the integerity of the program, even though he was rough around the edges as a PR guy. I really don't care he called Eich a p***y--maybe he is. However, the struggles against the likes of MN and IA and blowouts were wearing real thin on me such that I had no problem about him being replaced in the end. I remember a year ago someone mentioning that they thought Riley would be a good replacement and I specifically recall shuttering in horror and making a fairly elaborate case as to why Riley would be one of the last guys you'd want as the coach as per the themes that he had never really won anything and was somewhat of a has been. Now that I know more about the guy, I can see him as a pretty good choice and hope he gets it done. Still not convinced he will though, or do any better than BOP. I was and still am real high on Justin Fuente, think he would've been a stellar get. McElwaine would've probably been even better. So you do, or don't support the new coaching staff?
  10. Did anyone see Mick Stoltenberg? He's got an amazing frame. It will be interesting seeing him at DT this year instead of DE.
  11. http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/volatility-nebraska-pelini-finds-comfort-home-30033108 Basically a story about how happy Bo is to be at YSU and how happy Youngstown is to have him. I found a few statements interesting: -"'I'm not an ego-driven guy. I'm not one to worry about how many people are in the stadium or how big the stadium is or how many games are on TV or anything like that.'" Right And this one regarding the tape that was released: "'I think it's sad that it came out," Pelini said. "That's what's wrong with that place.'" Read what y'all want into this article but I think those two quotes say everything there is to be said about Pelini. He lacks class and nothing is his fault.
  12. I just saw McShay and Kiper saying he's still top 10 to 15.
  13. #CoreValues Carl the coke head and philanderer. Marvin the philanderer, etc. Ron the homophobe. Kaz the wife beater. Quite the collection. I won't get into it to much, but it isn't correct to call Ron Brown a homophobe. Disagreeing with something doesn't automatically equal fear and hate. This is true. But Ron Brown's statements make him homophobic. They just do. Which statements? Where have you been the last few years? He said gays and lesbians do not deserve the same protections as groups that historically have been discriminated against, such as blacks and women. "The scriptures teach that blacks were created by God, that women were created by God, but that homosexuals ... that is not what God had in mind at all," Brown said. Brown said his words should not be interpreted as an attack on homosexuals. "I have simply said that based on the Bible, homosexuality, the lifestyle of homosexuality, is a sin," he said. These statements are based on his faith, not on fear, which is what homophobia is, a fear of homosexuals. From Websters Dictionary homophobia noun ho·mo·pho·bia \ˌhō-mə-ˈfō-bē-ə\ Definition of HOMOPHOBIA : irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals : irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals FIFY. Is it irrational if Ron Brown opposes homosexuality based on his faith? I don't think he dislikes gay people. He opposes their homosexuality. So that doesn't mean his faith is irrational? No, it means that faith, of any kind, is irrational. I don't agree. But more power to you. It's not insult. I'm merely commenting that taking a 'leap of faith' is inherently irrational but billions of people take that leap.

  15. hahahaha this is the first time I've ever heard someone say "don't smoke weed, but if you need to get effed up, pound some rails." hahahaha Oh god that's great.
  16. I've only ever been a Nebraska fan so I can't speak to other teams. I'm curious, though, do other teams like tOSO and UM inspire the same type of vitriol that you speak of when Bo was hired 8 years ago? It's crazy because they were ultimately right, they just had to wait 8 years to prove their point. I don't get it. It's absolutely entertaining, though.
  17. Come on man! My jokes aren't that bad!!! We've been ignoring you since the SockPuppet thread.
  18. Agreed. Ignore him like a red headed step child...only because you can't beat people on the internet.
  19. "Hands low to high, ya know what I mean" Love it.
  20. Is this any indication of depth chart (so far), or not necessarily listed in order? scarey list, lots of unknowns......and no proven running back, just concerns me.Everything seems to concern you dude, you can have my kool-aid, while i like the coaching change, we are short on experience, nothing to be ashamed of, but there is much work to be done and it could be mid season before we see real progress....just way too many unknowns to get really excited just yet. if the coaching sticks the kids should get better with time, but expect growing pains in the beginning. Hunter, I agree. But the fact that we are going to use the TE and RB in passing game makes me feel better. We do not have Ameer or Rex, but we have talent. Remember, players said that Taylor was going to push for playing time. I also think Wilborn will be a surprise. i hope you are correct, i am sure we will use the talent as we can.......Riley is reportedly very good at firing his big guns! I think picking up blitzes & catching passes out of the backfield will be a big factor in getting the starting job. Both Newby & Cross had issues blocking last year. Two years ago, we were taking about Taylor & now it is Wilbon. I like both of these guys, but they are young. Cross didn't have issues picking up blitzes anymore than Ameer did. We need to stop constantly bashing Cross saying he's slow, he can't block and he can't catch. He's the hardest worker in the entire RB corps and he sets the example each and every one of them should aspire to. I'm glad he's here and I think he's our #1 and I'm glad he is. I am not bashing Cross. In fact, I like his heart but this has been an issue in the past and why Ameer seen so many snaps. Cross wasn't the reason Ameer got so many snaps. Ameer got snaps because he was the best back in the B1G and probably one of the best in the country. I'm with you, though, The Purdue game where Cross got a ton of snaps in relief of Ameer was indicative of his talent level. After the game he made a comment about getting 4 yards a carry, every carry. That's great, but ultimately you need a back that can break big runs several times a game, and that's why Ameer got all the snaps. I think Newby can be that back as well as Taylor and Wilbon. I'm just not sold on Cross as the best every down back we have. That doesn't mean I don't want him on the field. Hes a great leader, worker, and has a ton of heart. I just wish he didn't run so vertical and hit the holes harder.
  21. Did anyone see in the pics from yesterdays practices of how slim Valentine and Collins look? Especially Valentine. He looks like he's trimmed up quite a bit. I heard that Collins has gotten bigger, stronger and faster. Hope the same for Valentine.
  22. lol, so now you are questioning his Christian faith because he's putting himself in a position where he can speak to MORE people? Trying to show and share Christianity is one of the very basic tenants of the Christian faith, so I mean, if anything, that should be an endorsement of his devotion to it. Also, if you're a preacher you're only heard by people in church. What do you think the percentage is of players/staff on a D1 football team that are regular church attenders? Attacking someone's moral fiber because they are trying to help people by using their gifts and talents is a new one I haven't really seen before. Be a preacher or a coach. That's it.
