  1. On youtube, you've probably run across Husker Historian's channel. It has a pretty spotty collection of full games but includes some of the classics. You can buy game DVDs at ~$20 a pop here. If you want to watch replays of the game right away, you'll probably have to bite the bullet and pay for cable so you get BTN. There are a few full-length games posted by random youtube accounts if you root around for a while. The Minnesota game is here.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T_VsOFe0ek Lewan said before the game that he wasn't going to let MSU bully Mich like the last couple of years. Lewan is the #77 that takes a right jab from Gholston. Guess it didn't work out.
  3. Yeah, I loved all his great punt returns. He didn't have an opportunity to return most of those punts. I'll take a Panico-esque performance over the dropsies against Northwestern last year.
  4. Davison's without question. Without it we don't share the NC. That game meant a lot to both teams. Plus, it was a more improbable/unique catch.
  5. We are Northwestern's Northwestern. Those guys can't put us away.
  6. This. If we change coaches I think it will be an up-and-coming HC from outside the power conferences and I'd probably prefer that to a coordinator, even one with name recognition. A lot of the names in this thread are pretty ridiculous but we're not on the search committee. Apparently no one here has read wish-list threads on other boards. If you were the AD in 2007 and knew ahead of time what Bo would do here, would you pick him? Would you settle for "pretty good with the occasional soul-crushing defeat" for a chance with another coach? Bo is circling failure in a rapidly decaying orbit. I hope the team shocks us and makes it to the Rose Bowl. But, if not, I hope Bo crashes and burns (or, you know, exits on amicable terms). What I fear is that we will limp to 8-4 and Bo will get another year to show what he has proven to be unable to do. Sometimes people plateau and more time isn't going to help. Some people think that the program can't sustain another HC change. The only thing remaining from Osborne's tenure by the time Bo got here was the fan base and some residuary good will. There wouldn't be much of a continuity loss this time around. What the program can't sustain is the loss of interest that's been going on for the last couple years. Bo's record would be good enough at most schools but Nebraska *still* isn't most schools. It's not good enough keep people excited about where we're headed and ultimately won't be good enough to keep people in the seats.
  7. That's my thought also, Even Michigan and Ohio State have no major advantages over Nebraska as far as recruiting is concerned. Pelini has even had some decent class that he's done nothing with. Our athletic budget is massive, we can bid with anyone out there if the only factor is money. Ohio State has a huge recruiting advantage over Nebraska. There's a lot of talent in Ohio that the Buckeyes don't have to work very hard to get. Michigan has an advantage, too, it's just smaller. I kind of viewed Wisconsin as being similar to Nebraska when Solich was here. I thought that Bielema had the Badgers running on the fumes left over from Alvarez and eventually the system Alvarez built would fall apart. We'll see how Anderson does.
  8. Rumors are that he does not anymore. Can't find a link, but the rumors are that he doesn't. Regardless, when you cover up the name on his resume he is nowhere near qualified to be our HC. . . . Did not even in the slightest imply that I have "sources in Eugene." Never one time did I do that. Read it from stump1 on this board. Which is why I said that "rumor is he doesn't call them anymore." Try reading the post exactly how I wrote it. My thoughts about Scott are very well documented in other threads. But one more time for the slow guy: Cover up the name on his resume and there is no way he is qualified to be the Head Coach at Nebraska. I can't think of anyone even making a case for him. Next time try saying "one of the other posters said he doesn't call the plays anymore," instead of making a vague reference to rumors. It's not any harder to type and, by doing so, you substantiate your source and let the rest of us know that your reference to "rumors" is baseless. These are the type of posts that irk other posters, since they make it appear as if you are being deliberately vague to cover for your lack of knowledge.
  9. What personnel changes is he making to take the program to the "next level"? What makes you think the program's trend line over the last 3 years isn't flat or a little down?
  10. Yeah, well, it doesn't count if it wasn't uphill both ways. I think the posters tend to skew quite a bit younger than the average fan so I appreciate reading the perspective of some of our more seasoned fans, even if it's not too popular in the wake of a loss to the Goofers. Good post.
  11. Albert Einstein said that (lest anyone think that Mark May has ever said anything intelligent). So then repeating this attribution and expecting it to be true makes a person insane? I've never repeated the attribution before and the result I was expecting was to discredit the notion that Mark May coined the maxim (which could be achieved by attributing it to any other person), so I don't think your response is on point. But I Googled the maxim and it turns out that it most likely originated in the 1980s from Narcotics and/or Alcoholics Anonymous. It's been attributed to Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, a Chinese proverb, and other sources over the years. So I actually learned something from Huskerboard today. A green +1 to you.
  12. Albert Einstein said that (lest anyone think that Mark May has ever said anything intelligent).
  13. I can't hear that opening riff without thinking of Cialis. The commercial where the cowboy can't get it up for his wife but he's still a man because he knows how to pull a horse trailer out of the mud.
  14. Engineering isn't exactly a booming profession. Engineers in the oil business will probably do pretty good but most major engineering fields (e.g., mechanical) are expected to have below average job growth this decade. BLS. Engineering jobs that don't require field work are particularly susceptible to cost-saving measures like outsourcing, and that's a trend that should continue to grow.
  15. Peter G. Peterson Foundation (Peter Peterson is a former Secretary of Commerce in a Republican administration and started the Blackstone Group). Goldman Sachs survey suggests that 40% of consumers have scaled back spending during the shut-down. CNBC. Only two days 'til Thursday . . .
  16. I got the chance to sit up there for the Southern Miss game and thought the view was pretty good. A lot better than at the top of the endzones. There's going to be a lot of distance at Bristol between the football field (I'm assuming they're going to stick it in the middle of the infield) and where the stands start. People will go for the experience of being there but it's not a good place to watch a football game. Also, hats off to our AD for getting Oregon on the schedule on (relatively) short notice. That's going to be an exciting twofer.
  17. What a cool idea. It's a neat idea but fans will need a good pair of binoculars.
  18. Actually, the common law rule was that voluntary intoxication could be a failure of proof defense for crimes requiring a "specific" as opposed to a mere "general" intent. A specific intent is some intent beyond the intent to do the actus reus of the offense. For example, burglary (breaking and entering with an intent to commit a felony therein) is a specific intent crime since it has an extra level of intent ("with the intent to commit a felony therein") on top of the actus reus ("breaking and entering"). A person charged with burglary could argue that his voluntary intoxication prevented him from forming an intent to commit a felony therein, although it would be no defense to a general intent crime (e.g., trespassing). Voluntary intoxication is probably most often used in first-degree murder cases, where it can be used to show that the accused did not premeditate the killing (specific intent) but cannot be used to show the accused was too drunk to intentionally kill (general intent). This is still the law in a lot of jurisdictions and was the law in Nebraska until a couple of years ago when the Unicameral (acting on misinformation, I might add) disallowed intoxication as a mitigation or defense except for involuntary intoxication or settled insanity caused by the prolonged consumption of alcohol or other drugs (e.g., delirium tremens). There are few to none reported decisions of an accused successfully using his voluntary intoxication to support an insanity defense (an "excuse" rather than a failure of proof defense). Involuntary intoxication, like insanity, is an excuse for a crime and it doesn't necessarily have to involve coercion. If you're a masochist, here's a law review article that talks about the issue in Nebraska.
  19. One of the best dueling guitar solos ever put to vinyl starts at 3:10. Taylor + Richards = Bliss.
  20. Davison's giggle is at 2:48. He was very excited. Edit: Didn't realize embedding was disabled for the AD's videos. Davison sounded like the Pillsbury Doughboy.
  21. I liked Ryker Fyfe before it was cool to ironically like Ryker Fyfe. All the hip kids are into Tyson Broekemeir now.
  22. So much football knowledge yet so unschooled in the art of using the return key.
  23. I had the game on mute. Did they say it wasn't a fumble because the runner's forward momentum had been stopped? The Iowa State defender was streaking down the field with the ball before the Texas RB hit the turf.
