      With all the love he had been receiving previously, didn’t think they would upgrade that position.

      At the time Washington signed Brown, Compton was still a RFA who had signed his tender yet.  Washington was most likely covering their bases.  Washington was definitely fortunate and Compton equally unlucky that a LB the caliber of Brown was willing to sign a 1 yr 'prove it' deal.
