  1. Accountable for asking about how they reacted to interceptions? Yeah, the FCC needs to step in.
  2. Maybe he could have talked about their reaction to it on the sideline... Did they make any adjustments, etc... It was a sort of straight forward question. But not to bo, I guess. Everything is an attack and a reason to be defensive.
  3. I do agree with you, sadly your post in BS. So because they make make more money than you their not allowed to have an opinion! your post is childish and it's obvious your not capable to understand this. pathetic. Yes. My post is BS. I'm not capable to understand. And because they are paid more, they should not have opinions. All of those things are true except for 3 of them. please enplane why a person shouldn't be allowed to stand up for himself, team or supporting cast because he make's money. Beck is supposed to be an adult and an ostensible professional, yet, he stands up for himself by having a "NOBODY LIKES ME!!!" tantrum. It wasn't a reasoned response to criticism, it was saying that EVERYONE HATES THE TEAM *cry cry*. Here's how a professional would have addressed this same issue and stood up for his team: "Yeah, there are a few people out there who seem to have it in for us, but the vast majority of Nebraska fans can see that we're making progress." Something like that-- "This much larger group of fans supports us" instead of "nobody likes meh." Is that clearer?
  4. I agree other than I'm not sure 5% is right. Just judging from the people on this board it seems to be fairly close to 50/50. People who make thoughtful arguments for why he isn't right for the job are different from the 5% he's talking about. The loud, vulgar fans who threaten violence or just go to a knee jerk "F U!" when one thing doesn't go right. If the coaches are having a hard time handling the critics who can at least explain themselves in (mostly) polite language and have a level-headed discussion about the performance of the staff, they definitely chose the wrong career path. The 5% (or probably fewer, really) who are just abusive are the ones who are saying nasty crap on twitter or yelling it in the stadium. And, again, I think that 5% is an overestimate. If these 5% were normally distributed, we could count on, what? 4,500 of them in the stadium every week? How many tens of thousands on Twitter?
  5. You see I don't have a problem with him being honest in his comment. I don't know how many times I have read on message boards that "All they here is coach speak and blah, blah, blah." When a coach actually says something that is pretty true, some fans don't like it. You can't have everything both ways. The relationship that fans have had with Taylor Martinez had been very love/hate. He was just being honest and you don't like it. The only other QB I think thats had it worse the TM would be Lord. And I'm not even sure he had it as bad a times. All y'all critics, y'all ain't nothin! **Loses to Texas on an INT in the endzone**
  6. You also might not hear much about their choking here because this forum isn't about them.
  7. That was a weird season-- it wasn't that the refs were against nebraska, it was more that they were not calling penalties on our opponents. I did an analysis (but it was easy to eyeball) that showed that every (I think) Big 12 team had their best game against us in terms of penalty yards by a LONG shot. Of course, it was difficult to show that Nebraska was getting extra penalties because they were high in every game. People argued back then that all of the calls against NU in that A&M game were legit, but the problem was that A&M had something like half their average number of penalties called on them.
  8. Let's say there's a 90% chance Bo stays if he wins the next two games. And a 50/50 chance he gets fired if he loses the next two. Would you rather see us win the next two, or lose the next two? If he loses badly, then I would rather see him go. After the MSU game, though, I am curious about where this team is going. It really turned the dial back a bit on my Bo'ometer. Losing to a team that is better and more experienced, and losing well, won't be a major strike against him for me. I decided a few games ago that I'd rather see the young players (who will be the core of the team next year) get a lot of playing time to be better able to handle next season than to be concerned about wins that won't really mean anything. There isn't a conference title on the table at this point, so certainly nothing higher, and rankings below 10 or MAYBE 15 are kind of meaningless, so the best, most substantial thing to get from this season is experience for young players. I saw no improvement through the scrubby games in the middle of the season. It always felt like NU was lucky to escape with a win. Northwestern further convinced me of that, but then Michigan and MSU had me thinking that maybe it WAS inexperience and youth that was causing many of the problems. Was the staff still to blame for not adapting its schemes to the players? Without a doubt-- that needs to be addressed in a major way (teams don't earn points for the complexity or AMAZINGNESS of a scheme if the players haven't gotten it down yet... I am trying so hard not to say any form of "e___ute"... it's my new cringe word). Maybe the staff needs to come up with a multi-tiered scheme. You can, say, be a brilliant architect who drafts amazing, other-worldly structures, but if they depend on materials that don't yet exist, they're just fantasy. Anyway, I'm getting off track... if the team continues to show improvement but still loses, I think he should get another year. However, if the "improvement" was really just an anomaly, then he should be out. A couple weeks ago, I thought he should be out for blaming the players so gd much when the staff should be adapting to the materials they have (if all you have currently are bricks, don't give me a design for a steel-and-glass skyscraper... can't do that with bricks). Improved play is a major plus, though. AND it does look like the defensive scheme has changed recently. Maybe he and his staff are learning a hard lesson this year. I'd rather see if it pays off next year than just scrap the whole thing.
  9. Or Dan Marino, yeah. If we had only had just ONE of the best quarterbacks in history, the game would have possibly gone better. I think we're also in agreement that RK3 is of the same caliber as those other QBs and that {insert name of whoever is playing currently} is the worst quarterback we have.
  10. Yes, if we, as fans, wanted to be exactly where we're at, then we would be exactly where we wanted to be. Q.E.D.
  11. I don't know if people are being intentionally obtuse or what, but there are differences among a) being happy with a loss, b) being happy with 'how things are,' and c) having the capacity to see positives in games that don't have a "W" next to their scores. Just as it was easy to see flaws in the early wins against lesser opponents, it's also possible to see that there has been improvement in losses against better opponents.
  12. I'm pretty sure I am looking at the big picture; you're the one who is myopically focused on this one game and failing to acknowledge growth over the course of this season. The team that lost to UCLA would have been shut out in this game, but there has been progress. I have not been enthusiastic about the future *at all* this season until this game. I honestly don't know what you think I'm "supporting" by seeing progress. There is this false dichotomy that a lot of people invoke of "support/not support" that doesn't reflect reality in any way or even address the content of the conversation that's taking place. As a response to "I see positive signs of growth and progress here," "How can you support this?" doesn't even make sense. It's a total non-sequitur. I have written this season off as a chance for younger players to get opportunities to gain experience, and it's successful in that regard. I don't think that anyone had a realistic expectation of winning out at this point (yeah, a win here would have been nice and not all that surprising), so it's okay to find positive when they are realistically there. You can go ahead and keep insulting people if that makes you feel better, but firing the coaching staff isn't going to get anything back to "greatness" any time soon. Let's see what happens as the season winds down.
  13. Yeah, there was a way forward in this loss. In, for example, the championship game last year, it was just like WI was dangling bo by his hair and repeatedly kicking him in the crotch. There was NOTHING that was going to win that game or the UCLA game except for a surprise last minute forfeit. This was a "good" loss (as in looks better for the future). The turnovers were absolute suicide, but I don't think I've seen a loss in 2 years that I could say, "Wow, if only it weren't for that ONE PROBLEM."
  14. +1 Little stuff here and there is what makes this game frustrating, and Bo Pelini coached teams frustrating overall. The defense has shown improvement, but now the team has to finish the year. They won't reach their goals, but the season isn't over yet. Yeah, but I guess I haven't been that frustrated at some of the really bad blowouts the last couple years because there was NO WAY that there was a win just slipping from the team's grasp. So often the losses have just looked like helpless floundering. It was actually kind of NICE to be frustrated instead of just laughing at the absurdity of it.
  15. I don't know about anyone else, yeah, I would have appreciated a win, but if there needs to be a loss, that was not a horrible way to do it. NU didn't look helpless, there were some mistakes, but all-in-all, the D looked surprisingly good and the offense put a lot of points on a great defense. I am not a sunshine pumper, this was actually a bit of a heart-breaking loss because, for the first time in a while, there was a visible path to victory. I think earlier this season (probably after UCLA) [i said] how much I hated the losses that were the result of TOTAL domination, where it wasn't possible to see those one or two tweaks that could have resulted in a win. For the first time in a while following a loss [i could see the "if onlys"]; I think that this actually DOES bode well for the future, or, at least, it bodes less badly. I donno... anyone else feel like this? I guess I said a couple weeks ago that I wrote this season off in my mind and see it more as a building season. Let the young players get some experience in big games, take what we can get. That might have re-framed my perception of a loss.
  16. So many of these "judgement problems" have been thrown around over the years. Many of which are fallacies. Which one are we speaking of here?? That's what I'd like to know, too. I just hear these rumors, and, after all these years, nothing has substantiated. Is this just mostly guessing? I'm starting to think that it is. "Oh, he probably blah blah blah..." Becomes "He DID blah blah blah!"
  17. It is always nice to hear some applause after.
  18. Football has changed and that type of play can't work any more. Where have you been?
  19. He is changing? Unacceptable, Fire Bo! -1 Seriously? Do we have to put the sarcastic sign next to everything? I've adblocked it.
  20. No joke, I *hate* forced, contrived rivalries more than just about anything in sports. It's like they were decided by reality TV directors/editors who decided that there NEEDS to be drama. Just let them form organically, quit forcing us into it and telling us who we were supposed to be rivals with. Right now, NW really does feel like the closest thing we have to a rivalry in our division right now (for all of the things listed by the OP). It will definitely be one of the top games to look forward to for the sheer fun and excitement of it for several seasons to come. Yeah, we might have more important games in our division, but that doesn't mean they'll have the same "intangibles" as the NU-NW games have had so far. Let's make our own trophy for the game like the Innocence Society did for the Missouri games! Screw those pre-fab trophies. We'll make a fanbase-to-fanbase, grassroots, organic rivalry. Start designing a trophy!
  21. Might have to now.....heard Cotton has a sprained MCL.....depending on the damage....could be 1 to 2 weeks.......or months.....sounds like it was minor luckily. This is where you really get iffy if you will. Pulling a RS off of Chongo at this point is a double edged sword. I think Chongo is going to be a good player for us, however I am not convinced that playing a guy in Ann Arbor for his first ever D1 start would be the greatest of ideas. Don't disagree with that I am always of the opinion that talent has to trump experience at some point. But you would be setting a kid up to fail in this case in my personal opinion. This season, POSSIBLY, is not going to end amazingly well. I would prefer, and I feel bad for the seniors while I say this, that we see TA get some experience under center this season in order to build toward the next. Regardless of how the D seemed to play this game, they were still getting ripped up by the run, so I don't see a stellar record come bowl season; that being said, I think the record will be more dependent on the D's performance than the QB's, so let TA get some play time. I hate to just say, "Let's cash this season in for what we can get out of it, W/L record be damned," but that's kind of where I'm at. If TA get's better and better as the season progresses, that's a sort of success (as long as it pays off next season). All of the D's troubles are a whole different issue.
