  1. Congratulations to these guys who are getting close to a viable ocean plastic cleanup system and already deployed a few systems to capture plastics at river source.

@BigRedBuster  Their next step is System 2 which should be close to the upscaled system that will be duplicated to clean up the ocean gyres such as the great pacific garbage patch.  These gyres are huge areas so any solution would take decades to clean up.

Asian nations are the worst plastic polluters.  The biggest problem I see is plastic products were introduced to these countries before having an infrastructure to deal with the waste.  These guys were secretly developing the river system which I believe will have a twofold effect.  Since some kind of infrastructure will have to be built locally to process the waste they collect, that infrastructure will enable land based collection and less plastics will enter the rivers.  That's the idea this guy has https://preciousplastic.com/en/machines.html on a small scale.  Young people are busy cleaning up our mess :)

@4skers89 Yeah, their interactive map that shows the rivers around the world is amazing information.  It really is amazing how certain areas are so much worse than others.

I just got back from the K Show which is the largest plastics show in the world.  It was amazing to me how much the recycling industry has taken over the show....and that's good.  There is a hell of a lot of effort in the plastics industry to develop recycling processes to help take care of this problem once the waste is collected.
