  1. Its weird until we all realize that Nebraska seemingly decided to abandon the RB first run game for 3 different regimes now. Not sure when this progrum is gonna wake up and realize running your qb as your primary option is a disaster waiting to happen between getting banged up, injured all together, and overall limiting your effectiveness as an offense via fumbles and stalled drives. This started in 2010 when TM was a huge breath of relief after the zac lee inept offense. At that time we still had the Helu/Burkhead/Ameer reigns on the horizon though the beginning of the qb first took hold. Tommy armstrong was more of a thrower than TM but such a gamer and took his fair share of hits. brief pause on this strategy with mike riley I dont need to go into great detail on how frosty ran 2am into the ground. 2am peaked in week 2-3 of his freshman year and was never the same athletically due to how often he got his s#!t beat up We as a progrum need to stop revolving our offense around the qb. It prevents our RBs from developing any sort of rhythm and basically ignores any form of consistent passing game intentionally.
  2. Great thread to spin up. I think we were all humbled on saturday but a wildly successful season is still up for grabs (I already consider this season a success for year 1 but I know I'm in the minority on this). I voted we get the 6th win this week though I also think we f'n end our streak against wisconsin too. I went back and forth on this saturday- Maryland is on quite the slide but they're also facing non bowl eligibility (after a great start) and have michigan on deck next week. Usually I'd say they might be looking ahead but something tells me this week is their season and they'll come out firing. I have confidence against iowa but I think we'd all agree lets have that game mean bragging rights only, I do not want to be sitting at 5-6 on thanksgiving day, id like to enjoy my feast and not be a nervous wreck for black friday. We really need a bowl game folks, the extra 2.5-3 weeks of practice would be the biggest boost to this progrum since the conclusion of the 09 season
  3. We 1000% look elsewhere and we tell recruits the position is open for battle, whether thats Kaelin or a transfer guy. I think Rhule can easily say, "look at where we're trending despite the train wreck at qb". Its really too bad that Sims has the f'n yips and cant even field simple snaps- if we simply had the Ga tech version with his crappy turnovers we'd most likely be sitting at 7-2, perhaps 6-3, right now and in the drivers seat. Recruits arent blind and the qb situation isnt new. If guys are on the fence because of the unknown of the future then they probably arent the builders we want in this program to begin with. Top notch recruits can hitch their wagon to a solid qb recruit, I really dont think we have to fear our recruits being swayed by a more attractive destination.
  4. I would’ve loved to have him as an option but he too would struggle with this offense. If you took out Palmer last year we lacked difference makers- not sure how effective he would’ve been this year given the state of options to throw to
  5. the problem with the routes you outlined is we don’t have a qb to execute those routes. HH release point coupled with the velocity he throws with is a main reason why he’s sailing a lot of his out throws and quick hits over the middle. my guess is the coaching staff has zero confidence in him to make those plays without a high risk of turnover. Something also tells me that HH’s passing IQ is terribly low, I don’t know how else to explain why he’s still missing receivers wide open by design. You need a qb who can quickly go through designed progressions- something HH has shown incapable of for 2 months now.
  6. It might be easier if you just found a new team to support. Georgia still letting people on their wagon. Despite this you’d probably still find a way to criticize them if they didn’t win 70-3 each week
  7. It sounds like you woke up today expecting a for sure win and finally learned we don’t have an offense. If you’ve paid attention at all, you wouldn’t be shocked- our offense has been garbage all year and has largely been boosted by our defense and timely turnovers. I get it, we lost, but you’re being ridiculous looking forward to next year. Schedule isn’t even that bad, outside of Ohio state there isn’t a game we’re a for sure loss in and that includes usc.
  8. I think it’s just a talent issue. Satt is incredibly limited on what he can call. He still needs to call plays to show the threat of something- we don’t have the line backs or qb to simply run it every down. our best receiver is a tight end coming off 2 horrible injuries. our qb consistently misses open reads completely, is erratic with accuracy across all levels and while fast, he isn’t quick footed or shifty; something id argue is more valuable for a college qb that pure straight speed. the one thing I’ll criticize satt for is the whiff on sims. That has had such a negative cascading chain of events
  9. nothing from today changed number 4. Michigan and Colorado already showed how you pick the defense apart. They’re a greatly improved unit but we need some DAWGS across the defense, ideally on the line and linebacker that can wreck a game single handily. Hopefully the young guys, who have played great, continue to improve and reach that status. At some point, any defense is gonna have slips when the offense does absolutely nothing. a high school coach would have no problem rendering our offense ineffective. We don’t have a speed advantage, we don’t have a strength advantage, we lost all our WRs and RBs and our qb situation is the worst since Mike Riley era Despite all of this, this team and progrum is heading in the right direction.
  10. A bit harsh- our offense is completely out of whack due to injuries and we didn’t have much top talent to begin with. Case in point, our best wide out seems to be a walk on who gets credit for running great routes but has stone for hands. our defense doesn’t have a playmaker to wreck a game single handily but overall another solid performance. if you really think this squad is the same of the past 8-10 years you’re not looking hard enough
  11. Yeah seriously what kind of fan would want to see their team have success and make the conf title game. I for one am so relieved I haven’t faced this dilemma in 10 years
  12. Our offense cost us this game but the refs really were atrocious. That touchdown review and not calling that second to last play dead was horrendous officiating
  13. Sure it can, we have zero offense mainly due to injuries and we finally got exposed when a team didn’t gift us turnovers. we’ll get a 6th win but looking a helluva lot tougher than it did 3 hours ago
  14. Yah, I’m not sure why he didn’t throw towards left pylon. Baffling
  15. I never thought I’d see a worse commentator and production team than the 9 am ESPN 2 crew. Yet here I am listening to the fox d squad tell me that Bryce benhart epitomizes what it means to be a blackshirt ya learn something new everyday folks
  16. Play style, lack of skill positions relative to other geos, I also think the decline of qb quality is a big part. outside of Ohio state, big ten been rather meh with qbs for a while now and this year tosu seems more vulnerable than ever. Todays level of qb talent is a far cry compared to the likes of cousins, Wilson, and any OSU qb from 2012-2022
  17. I came here to post something similar. I believe rhule has through the end of this academic year to still leverage the "new coach" provision in moving a scholly guy to non playing but still honor their scholarship to the university. Rhule seems incredibly on top of leveraging any and all roster management strategies. If he isnt worried about another large class, i sure as hell am not either.
  18. We don’t need a great qb, an average to slightly above average qb would be a major upgrade over what we have currently. I don’t think it’s as rare as you think- pretty much every pac 12 team that is ranked is playing a transfer qb. As far as the big ten west being a dumpster fire- that fire is done end of year. Starting next we don’t have the luxury of having most of our division be incompetent. Gotta step up our game and the QB situation is towards the top of the list of what we need to address.
  19. Bingo- let’s finish the year 8-5 or 9-4 with a bunch of momentum for the first time since 09 and actually look like an attractive destination to a quality p5 qb looking for a great situation that is simply missing a qb with a pulse and playmaking ability to take us to the next level
  20. Because he’s horrendous and has no right being a p5 qb. If he had a different last name of his brother he’s prolly be a 2-3 star coming out of high school. not a strong arm, has happy feet in the pocket, isn’t fast and is indecisive with his throws. Horrible profile for a qb
  21. It’s the worst man. Half the time we do a dumb as hell run option that makes things even tougher. a wins a win tho
  22. The amount he’s getting paid, I feel zero remorse for the guy. Biggest dud in husker history, surpassing Sam Keller
  23. That falls squarely on the coaches. There is no explaining that sequence- the first formation seemed like an attempt to get them to jump. They did, and we did nothing but burn a timeout then we line up in slow progressing play 4 yards behind scrimmage. Rhule better get heat post game and he 100% deserves it for that train wreck
