  1. Preach brother. More verticality less horizontal bs
  2. 1. Win time of possession by 10 mins 2. A non adrian martinez rusher gets over 100 yards 3. A logan smothers appearance not caused by an injury to 2AM Can't recall the last time a game was put away by the 3rd... close games makes for good tv and all but i really would like a nice and relaxing start to my season
  3. lol, seriously.... I mean dont get me wrong, I wish we brought the pressure a bit more and upped the turnovers but thats prolly more of a by product of his bend dont break mentality coupled with no pass rush. Chins taken a lot of heat and has had, by far, the most steady unit (off, def, special teams) by far
  4. I mean kinda, but the actual opening total itself is based on the teams on the field.... Sure movement on money might swing the line a bit but based off the opening line of 7.5 vegas thinks nebraska is probably a 10-11 point favorite on a neutral site
  5. 3 Reasons from both sides why we win by 14+ Us I have confidence our O line is going to take a pretty massive step forward this year.. continuity, natural progression of a young unit maturing compared to years past and probably most importantly- actual semblance of some depth from this unit I have confidence we actually have some skill guys to get the ball to, while unproven, I feel like as a whole we have some running back options and they should be fresh and some added receiving options that simply were not there last year The need to set the tone- This progrum has been guilty of letdowns in year past- its been made pretty damn clear the importance of getting off to a fast start this season knowing a pretty tough Big10 slate is waiting in addition to playing potentially the #1 and #2 team when this year is done in Ohio State and Oklahoma. Illinois Coaching staff changes and transitions are a cluster F of a situation the first year, particularly in game 1. I'll honestly be disappointed if we dont hang 40+ on these guys knowing both teams are fresh and there's bound to be some communication/scheme mess ups on their side getting used to a new staff Talent disadvantage- Its not really close. Lovie Smith didn't recruit at a level needed to succeed in college They have our attention- It took a lifeless performance coupled with a QB performance that closer resembled the skill set of a JV high school in luke mccaffrey last year that resulted in probably the worst loss of frostys tenure (might be behind minnesota game last year, what a strech 2020 was )....... This is highly connected to my setting the tone part but if we come out flat against this sorry a$$ squad despite the embarrassment last year then frosty is done end of season... I want the guy to succeed but this game absolutely needs to be done in the 3rd quarter to the point where Logan S gets some run and experience in game time situations. If we come out flat and have a stinker to open the year, even in a close win, it would be a major disappointment and a harbinger of bad things to come throughout the season
  6. Big10 will huddle and make a special exception to ensure they still get in the title game....
  7. Key difference... vaccinated..... easy to look back now and make a statement like that... last year no vaccines, still a lot of uncertainty on this situation (which still exists today to an extent).... What's the latest % number on our status for this? Wasnt there a story back in late june we still only int he 65-70%ish range on team vaccination numbers?
  8. lololol... ok, I actually care too... but i would take a bad loss against oklahoma 10 out of 10 over the bs stories and s#!t we'd receive if we backed out and didnt play them... regardless of business side of things or easier schedule, its a horrendous look
  9. Everything you said, plus the fact that didnt frosty explicitly say we'll play anyone, anywhere? lol Seems a bit contradictory.... I for one dont think frosty was driving this, im sure it was internal chat and they positioned it to him as another home game and more manageable schedule and he probably saw the benefit. Disclaimer- i was disgusted when the news broke. Even if we get smoked who f'n cares, old rival, national audience, insane to pass that up even if it isnt likely we win
  10. Naw man, F that... I keep coming back to this pointless thread that has way too many posts given how minor of a story this is to read your thoughts. bout god damn time you chimed in here
  11. Scratch that, its even worse.... https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/stat/2nd-half-points-per-game?date=2021-01-12 8 from being dead last lol
  12. Eh, I think its actually more of a problem then you think it is... I thought I read somewhere we ranked like 110 last year in the nation in 2nd half scoring and it hasnt been that great overall the past few years
  13. Its similar to the quality of this story. I do find one element intriguing, and that's my amazement that Trev wasnt made aware of this until after he was hired lol... Don;t necessarily think this would change things but if I'm Trev, isn;t there an element of wtf guys towards our upper admins that they wouldnt bring this up? Perhaps its because this will be a non story pretty soon but hot damn i'd be kinda pissed if this wasnt disclosed during the hiring process
  14. lol, i have no idea, he most certainly does as I'd be shocked if any coach didnt try and make some kind of adjustments at half... I'm just making a loose/crappy observation that I feel like we come out flat AF after half time and feel like after the first series or 2 of most games we dont move the ball/score at the same clip. Also feel like i remember the games more often where we get outscored in the 2nd half and I make a broke AF claim like i did above.
  15. Maybe frosty has to sit out for a half in game one and we elect to do it in the 2nd half and actually see adjustments and a coherent offensive strategy for 4 quarters for a change
  16. Yeah, I don't think its going to be that monumental of a difference for the top teams like Bama, Oklahoma, the Georgias/LSU/Auburn that seem to strike lightning in a bottle and go undefeated/1 loss.. I do think tho we'll see a massive swing in the 10-2 and 9-3 SEC squads, the floridas of recent years, one of the georgia/lsu/auburn i listed above that might have had an early loss or 2 but playing hot at the end of the year. Feel like the playoff committee is going to give those teams the benefit of the doubt for last playoff/new playoff format seeding over a Big10/ACC/Pac team with a similar profile
  17. lol, whatttttt...... OU prolly should be ranked #1 this year heading into week 1 when you consider what they're bringing back. Bama has the name and track record of reloading for sure but I'd prolly put my money on OU if they faced bama to open up the year. OU definitely brings a bit more to the table than "basically being an A&M" lol
  18. I f'n loved those games. If I had those teams every year I'd be content and chances are high Bo probably is still the coach here (assuming he kept his temper in check) But, in my opinion, the level of play we had the last 2.5-4 years was the not the same as the first half of his tenure which those games you outlined fell into.
  19. I guess your definition of good is vastly different from mine. Giving up 63 points to ohio state while were ranked int he top 25, isnt good. Getting to the big10 title game in a weak AF year- and then giving up 70 points to a 7-5 wisconsin team, on a national stage, when we had such an easy path to a massive bowl, isn't good. Glad you enjoy only beating the teams we're favored yet ok being a national embarrassment on the big stage when every one is watching!
  20. Finally some positive news on the realignment front... I'd be very supportive of something like this instead of a mass change to the conferences... would love to preserve the geographical footprint right now while also finding a way to gain access to new markets + stay a step ahead of the SEC fukbois.
  21. It is astounding how quickly people play revisionist history and give sympathy to pelini and "regret" the decision to move on simply because eichorst made a blunder of a hire in mike riley. Newsflash, these two events can be independent of one another yet pockets of this fanbase seem to take the glass half full with the bo firing simply due to their disdain of the train wreck that was mike riley. Guy should get credit for a solid run and help restoring some pride in the post Billy C years no doubt. That doesn't mean the same guy shouldn't get some blame for being an uncontrollable hot head who simply couldnt win the games that matter. I give the man credit and thank him for his run here but I also wanted a change. Outside of the husker bubble, the guy was viewed as a f'n laughing stock and not a brand I personally would want associated with the team i follow.
