  1. Man, feel like you're taking a very optimistic look back and some revisionist history here. The other poster outlined bad losses. How about all of the f'n atrocious losses? That big 10 title debacle against wisconsin alone and then followed up by that ncaa record breaking performance in 3 quarters was half the nail in the coffin ffor him and his attitude/downward trend was the other half. Of course Bo would have had a great record in 2018, but that also means we wouldnt have had the slapdick mike riley and co that greatly played into the past few years of s#!t around here. Dont get me wrong, Bo was a great coach for us post callahan but it was pretty clear his system and defensive chops werent as strong in the big10 compared to the big12 due to style of play and how he preferred to construct his defense. In reality, his brother leaving probably marked the start of the decline of the defense Just because we made a horrendous hire post Bo doesn't mean firing Bo wasn't the right decision then or now. For what its worth, its not like it was a shock to him, there were rumors for years of him wanting out and being disgruntled with the admin (rightfully so from his perspective). It was necessary to go separate ways, for both parties, its just a shame that we replaced the guy with an utter f'n disaster of a guy in mike riley
  2. What if Dan Lust is also the magical sock puppet from many years ago?
  3. who f'n knows bro... i hope it starts with an honest dialogue of "ive been stuck at home for 18 months now and was bored AF and made this documentary in my basement"
  4. I actually didnt care enough to search him until I saw this thread get 6 pages worth of posts in a few hours and clicked on the broken twitter link that was posted above. I, too, have confidence that the university wont get tripped up by this so long as they come out and basically distance themselves from it asap. Again, whether they''re officially tied or not (they are not) 99% of people casually following this will see the husker logos ,know the background of last year, and pile on this team.
  5. we get it bro, u know the guy, u took a class with him, cool story... doesnt mean this isn't a dumb story 2.5 weeks before the season kick off that is ripe for ridicule and no run way for anything positive coming out of it. big10 and Kevin W was a cluster F last year, no doubt, but it was a year ago. I dont care, I just want football and i want this conference and this school to stop tripping over itself. Specially considering the "hype train" the past few days leading up to it just smells like a s#!tty PR stint for an even more s#!tty premise.
  6. This whole thing is utter stupidity. Curious what exactly he expects to change even if this deranged project actually tells a coherent story. And for those saying dont worry the university isnt connected to this, the first post i saw on google was his post yesterday decked out in husker gear.... whether tied or not, its a horrendous look. Hope the juice is worth the squeeze on this one because from my view i see a whole lot of stupidity and wasted effort for very little upside
  7. For that explicit reason no, I was more so just rattling off general observations to our steady decline being a direct driver to fan apathy increasing. Certainly a bigger factor than the decline of PPV programming, in my opinion. I do think not enough attention has been paid to our NFL draft drought and the correlation to how this team has regressed the past decade. Talent is still king and the fact that our NFL pipeline has dried up is a major contributing factor to our ineptitude as of late.
  8. Theres def overlap lol.. Yes, I would most certainly make the drive and I've done it even with the game on regular ABC/ESPN/Fox/Big10 channel simply to watch with friends/family. I think my point is, although I'm more on the extreme side of a husker fan, the vast majority of my friends who also support the team are not. Its a helluva lot harder to corral 20 people to get together to watch a team that is sitting at 2-5 halfway through the year against an ohio state team that is sure to be a blood bath vs. trying to get the same group to spend a saturday night together to watch say a 6-2 game get put to the test against a better team. It becomes a lot easier for my buddies to bail out of that 15-30 minute drive when the product is meh vs actually seeing something of substance
  9. Seats definitely need to be modernized. Hope this comment doesn't take too much heat but we really should take a page out of Texas' book on their stadium redesign. I'm mainly talking about the concession strategy.... Its modern, it feels like a pro atmosphere, and adds to the game day experience. Compare that with what we have going on- it feels like we're stuck in the 1960s with concessions and restroom concepts that more resemble a weekend at our local sports park. We have a total lack of food diversity, beverage options and just overall old aesthetics that need an uplift to say the least
  10. I think fans taking the stance that watch site traffic has declined for their team when their product has been utter garbage is due more-so to the removal of PPV and nothing to do with on the field ineptness qualifies as delusional. You're telling me if PPV was still around today the watch site interest would be the same or better despite the mediocrity on display? When was the last time this program actually had a game of consequence in your opinion? I live in a pretty large metropolitan area where bars are affiliated with schools and alumni group programs to throw events on game day... Other notable schools we'd like to associate ourselves with seem to have zero issue packing their watch site bars because they get to watch a game that actually has stakes. The vast majority of college football fans are not what's represented on this board. Most are casual at best and will go to watch sites/friends houses more so for the social element than to intensely follow the game. Casuals aren't inclined to support a loser program and the fact of the matter is we've owned that adjective for close to 10 years now
  11. It certainly has been a long 9 years that have felt like 20.
  12. Youre 100% right, never worked at a bar in my life. But having been a proud patron to countless watch sites for who knows how many games, there simply isnt a compelling reason for me given the product on display to spend hundreds more on crappier drinks, food and a much longer wait for the bathroom vs just being at home or a friends house. This team gets back to winning those watch sites numbers will increase dramatically. You make it sound like the bars are doomed solely because of the decline and elimination of PPV and nothing to do with the fact that we have not had a game of actual meaning going back to the 2012 big 10 title game lolol
  13. lol, can you honestly tell me the last time games were on ppv only? Feel like we're talking 2005 here.... I'd argue (outside of the quality of the product on the field) the advancement and cheapness in TVs played a much bigger role in the decline of watch sites. We used to go to various bars that were husker bars all the time growing up to meet up with family friends, that shifted to just going to someones home due to way better tv quality, better food and drinks if you're with the right people. The above coupled with the fact that we don't really have any big games anymore because we suck a$$ gives me literally no reason to go to a watch site for close to 10 years now. i guarantee you if this team gets back to a consistent top 15 top 20 year in and year out you're going to see a positive increase in traffic to watch sites. The vast majority of fans are casual fans at best and dont follow the team on a daily basis... you're delusional if you think the migration away from PPV, that started occurring close to 20 years ago plays a bigger role in watch site decline than the fact that our program has been the epitome of mediocrity for 10 years now
  14. Naw man, what killed the watch site experience was: - Getting rocked by a 5 loss Wisconsin team in the big10 champ -giving up an ncaa record in rushing to said Wisconsin team in 3 quarters due to a basic jet sweep we couldn’t stop - Getting rocked 62-3 by Ohio state when we’re ranked top 15 - losing to Iowa for what feels like a decade straight on the biggest game day of the year for Nebraska (Black Friday contest) - losing inexcusably to the likes of Purdue, Illinois, and Minnesota in embarrassing fashion - not sniffing the top 25 to end the year for a decade now - placing minima talent into the NFL, really no one of consequence as a skill position for close to a decade I could go on but my point is even if PPv was still a thing those watch sites would still be on the decline because fans simply won’t go out of their way to watch mediocrity. The product on the field has been so abysmal for a decade now, until that changes the concept of watch sites will continue to decline with the product
  15. Like the idea, but 2030? This s#!ts prolly going down by 2023... I just don’t see how it this goes through there isn’t a massive consolidation immediately. I thought I saw a post along these lines proposing a big10/pac12 alliance where the league remains relatively the same but bakes in set matchups and a rose bowl game between the 2 conferences. Thought that was pretty cool because these massive leagues feel like we’re just watering s#!t down at this point
  16. Do they though? They seem like a distance step child to everyone else. For what its worth, I don't think they leave either and more just a wish list but I'd be shocked if colorado didnt at least take a call. The big10 is projected to double the revenue given to schools that Pac12 hands out with the next tv rights agreement. Money talks While the Big12 has been mostly a s#!t show, I could very easily make the argument that the Pac12 has displayed a greater level of incompetence. They have, by far, the worst TV rights of any P5 conference, they've failed to promote their brands on a national level- time zone challenges or not, their decisions to play games late saturday night and refusal of earlier games has been the biggest reason they get minimal playoff hype and consideration. Also, for what its worth. CU is actually closer distance wise to the Big10 headquarters compared to Pac 12 and is actually closer to more schools in the Big10, distance wise, than the Pac 12.
  17. Catching up on the thread. Feels like Kansas is a recurring theme... I'd love to see colorado added into the fold- would be great to bring back that annual series and the Denver market is explosive when you consider population growth. Ive seem some mention of UNC and some deeper south ACC squads, I just dont see why they would make that jump given its so drastic geographically speaking. Personally, I actually feel the ACC has done a pretty good job in past years on stability and schools theyve added in. They pretty much own the eastern part of the US and has some notable programs in florida.... probably the reason why ND wants to align for access to these regions
  18. Given we're already at 14 members and 16 seems to be next logical step, which of those 2 would u say is most likely? I'd prolly rank FSU and GT as top two simply for recruiting purposes but I feel a case exists for all. I would think FSU would be #1 out of this list, tho Id be shocked if they would actually consider a jump like that
  19. Yeah i dont necessarily think they would either. But, if this actually has steam and happens I feel like we're gonna see somewhat of a school grab by the other conferences and these 2 would be at the top of the list, for me.
  20. Let's narrow in on probably the most important part of this thread. We talking gummies, cookies, chocolate bars? I've been on the kiva bars lately, hands down most consistent edible I've had the delight of enjoying the past few years. Always looking for new recommendations tho
  21. Dont have ESPN plus, what were some of the main talking points? Without knowing, here's what immediately come to mind for me over the past 10 years when i think of struggles and inconsistency: I haven't been proud of a defensive unit we've fielded in probably 11 years We are so undisciplined with a ridiculously high propensity of dumb and avoidable penalties that has now been an issue for 3 head coaches I haven't felt comfortable or optimistic with a 2nd half/4th quarter lead in probably 11-12 years I've been severely disappointed with our flat out neglect for the importance of the run game
  22. While I agree, that real estate is already consumed...
  23. I might have the youthful exuberance of a 21 year old and decision making of one when I'm under the influence but this 47 year old is more than capable of making dumb decisions on his own
  24. Jesus Frosty is the prohibitive favorite, Im willing to expand to 10 if the natty happens
