  1. Core muscle surgery's usually take a while to heal.
  2. So far this season have you seen a roll over and play dead mentality?
  3. OK, do you watch any Michigan football? They have a great defense. They have an average offense. They want to grind it out and win running the ball with play action passing. By no means am I picking Nebraska to win, but not a blow out. Now at OSU may be another story.
  4. Wow talk about a Debbie Downer. It very well could end up that way, but I guess I don't see that happening. Michigan has just not shown an offense that is that dynamic. Yes, they put up 40 on their last 2 opponents, Western Michigan and SMU. Those 2 opponents also have a combined record of 0-5. I expect the game to be a slug fest. As Mo Barry put it this is going to be a front 7 game. I would never bet Nebraska to win this game, but I won't be surprised if they do win. I think it is within 10 pts personally something more like 27-17 Michigan.
  5. Good post, I think there is possibly some truth to Michigan overlooking NU. Michigan is a good team, but truthfully does Michigan put the fear into you like playing Ohio St? It sure doesn't do that for me. They have a really good defense, they have an average offense. Their lack of offense has more to do with they style Harbaugh wants to play more than with talent. They have good backs, receivers and it looks like a decent QB. Their O-line is pretty average though. I think Nebraska will match up pretty well defensively against their offense. Cut down on penalties and keep the TO to 1 and play lose and see what happens.
  6. This, I think Martinez plays and I hope they play like they have nothing to lose. They should because they really do have nothing to lose. I think it could be a lower scoring game in the 20's. Nothing Michigan's offense has done this year is incredible by any means. They have beat 2 teams that are most likely not as good as Colorado or Troy. It really comes down to how well the defense plays. If the defense can hold up against Michigan and play well getting pressure on Patterson who knows. At this point I just want to see Nebraska have a chance to win this game in the 4th quarter.
  7. I want to see how they play tomorrow. I think they will play well and win the game by say 2 TDs. I think they have a chance against Michigan. I am with Victor/Vector. I think it will be a lower scoring game in the 20's.
  8. I watched this press conference today over lunch. Pat Fitzgerald is a defensive guy, he won the Butkus award as the nations best linebacker, of coarse he hates anything that gives the offense an advantage. He is also a very good listen. I don't know if he is trying to be funny, but he says a lot of humerus stuff during his PC's.
  9. The fact that NU has not played and CU beat CSU soundly is some cause for concern. Colorado St is terrible though so I was not surprised that sCUm won it is just how completely they dominated. There qb that has been very average had a great game. I am concerned mostly because I didn’t see us play last week. I don’t know what is going to happen
  10. I thought Clayton Thorson played just fine last night. The #4 for Purdue is going to be really good. I was impressed with the defenses being hard nosed. Not that super athletic, but tough. I hope Nebraska can show a superior athlete that will, along with toughness and aggressiveness will hold the day against teams like Purdue/NW and Iowa. Nebraska has been out toughed and has shown very little resiliency for a long time. Not just with Riley, but with Pelini's last 2-3 teams. NW and Iowa are never going to out recruit Nebraska, but they sure have been a tougher team than Nebraska. You could probably throw Michigan St into that group also. I guess that is what I want to see out of this team more than anything. I want to see no quit.
  11. Oh, no I think the future looks very bright. I am just specifically talking about this year. It will be a meat grinder of a year. It will be fun but I just don't know what will happen. I don't think we will know after Akron either. I think they will crush them on adrenaline alone.
  12. My pessimistic view stems more from other teams we are playing than what Nebraska brings to the table. I believe the team will be night and day better from last year in terms of playing with passion and aggression. I think they will be much better coached. I think the talent on the team will finally shine through as many spots. We have a tough schedule and there is no getting around that. We will be better, but I don't know if it is enough to get us past 7 wins. Watching the Purdue/Northwestern game, made me have doubt. They were both better than I thought they would be. Not perfect by any means, but they both played solid sound aggressive football. That type of play can take you far. That is all
  13. Nebraska fans have always been fairly discreet about bringing alcohol into the stadium. Back in 1985 I went and visited some HS friends at Iowa and we went to the game, they were playing Wisconsin. Everyone before they entered the stadium slung 2-3 boda bags over their shoulders full of whatever and went in the stadium. I was fairly shocked that it was allowed. I am sure that is not the case now at Iowa City, but no one would have ever thought of doing that at NU even in 1985.
  14. I guess the smoking outside the stadium really doesn't bother me all that much. I am old enough to remember people smoking in the stadium and it really didn't bother me that much.
  15. Not that this helps but in and around Boise, Idaho where I live there is a strong and growing group of winery's. I have one about 2 miles from where I live. Not a huge wine fan, but the owner is also a great chef, so they serve great food and the view is spectacular. They have bands playing a couple of times a month during the summer. Good times.
  16. It appears to be a moot point.
  17. I think EC had a reason to be upset, I believe he was grading out better than Newcombe, and Solich still named BN the starter.
  18. I think they have a ton of potential to be good, and we are talking about playing 7-8 deep. They were allowed to do nothing last year. That should change this year.
  19. Troy plays Boise St this week at Troy, Alabama. Last year in Boise, Troy lost by 11 and the game really wasn't that close. Troy should be a good solid test, but don't make them out to be a great team. Now if they just kill BSU that is a different story. BSU should be really good this year if they can find some WR.
  20. My 15 year old son and I are flying into Omaha on Saturday morning will get in at 12:30. Picking up rental car driving to my 88 year old mother's assisted living facility and picking up game tickets. Driving to Lincoln, hopefully parked by about 3:30 or so and will get something to eat, get a beer, and get him a new Husker t-shirt. Maybe meet some friends, go to the game, then go back to me in-laws in Valley to stay over night. Hang out on Sunday and fly home on Monday.
  21. Never understood the ire for Lil Red. It is 1 of the official mascots not the only one. You still see Herbie Husker.
  22. I agree with everything you are saying, and I said as much in my post, its a tool nothing else. Billy Bean took a team to the World Series using analytics and now it is all gospel. It is a tool use it, but trust your eyes as well.
  23. Analytics definitely have their place in predicting outcomes of sporting event and records of teams. I just think there is too many variables to make a prediction about a team with all new coaches. Analytic indicators are great for established teams. It is a great predictor of how well Alabama, Clemson, OSU, and even Iowa are going to do. The coaching factor is huge when paired with a new team. It can be a great positive or negative. I think it is great that he says 9-3 is a possibility, but his computer model says 6-6. After coaching HS football for 20+ years I am much more of an eyeball guy. Besides DiNardo isn't predicting records, he is just saying that he thinks Nebraska will be a much better football team based on what he has seen. That is all I want to here. Again there are too many things that can effect the outcome of a football game. Analytics are for gamblers and I am sure are very useful for that type of thing.
