  1. There are people with "inside" info right here on HuskerBoard. And I can tell you that the "inside" info you pay for on Rivals isn't "inside" at all - at least, it's not any more "inside" than what you can get here, or any other forum with a guy who knows a guy. There, you're just paying for it. I wonder if people would think the stuff they get from HuskerBoard would be better if they paid for it. I think some would. But it would be the same insight you'd get everywhere else. We just happen to have cooler members than anywhere else. Regarding BigHuskerFan... I'm a member over there, too. Don't post much, because the over-the-top Martinez hate just galls me. They think a certain brash young reporter from the Omaha paper is the bee's knees, which is nice I suppose, but it tells you something about the slant they have on the current team, the players and the coach(es). The thing about that is...you don't know who is who. Some people know some things, some people get lucky, some people talk out of their *sses. But the same person can really be all 3 at any given time. This is why there are message boards. For people to speculate on the speculation. There is one poster on bighuskerfan who really does seem to have an inside track on a lot of information. He is always very possitive about the team never posts anything negative. Knappic I am with you I a rarely post on bighuskerfan. The whole site is just a bunch of real negative guys. To me when guys or gals are that completely negative it just doesn't make sense. It's almost like they are throwing at temper tantrum because the arn't getting their way. "I want my team to be great and I am going to hold my breath until you make it happen mommy.
  2. You know what the amazing thing about this thread is that you can get a completely different slant depending on which board you go to. This board tends to think that TM is being picked on a little by the paper. Which I tend to agree with. Go to bighuskerfan and they all think TM is a complete is a complete jerk. They generally have 4-5 very vocal negative people. Then go to huskermax and you have something inbetween.
  3. That concerns me a little. I think you are reading a little too much into this statement. Its always good to have a players only meeting.
  4. I agree, I was just looking at the stat and thought it was interesting. The eyeball test is always important. I would say that NU's scheduale is as good or better than NW so far. Disregarding Idaho St.
  5. A Sagarin guy. Sagarin does have a unique way of doing things.
  6. Just reporting what I read. You forgot BC they are not good and Vandy only has like 1 or 2 wins.
  7. Don't know just picked it off the stat page off of another very reputable board.
  8. Looking at the stat line for the NW game on another board. The SOS really caught my eye. NU's schedual is ranked 24th nationally and 1st in the Big 10. NW is 100 nationally and last in the Big 10. Doesn't really mean anything other than NW really hasn't played anyone all that great so far. I was really surprised NU's was that high. Thoughts?
  9. That is a fair statement, but Northwestern is better this year than the team that beat Nebraska in Lincoln last year. Northwestern's offense and defense are both streaky, but both capable of being really good at times. I do not see Nebraska holding them under 30 points, so Martinez will need to be efficient. Why just because they have a better record? Last year they lost a lot of there games close. This year so far they have won those games instead of losing them.
  10. Oklahoma had way more talent when Stoops arrived than Nebraska did when Pelini arrived. Yes, Bo had talent stocked when he got here, and his best defenses were of Callahan players, but it was still not in the same category was what John Blake left for Stoops. How Blake was not able to field competitive teams on talent alone is beyond me. Plus Stoops had an offense of very talented and veteran players. Bob Stoops did have great Talent that year. Blake left him a lot of underused talent. He also struck gold on the JC end with Josh Hueple at QB, and a LB Marshall I believe his name was. That year everything went OU way also. They won a lot of close games. All the bounces went there way, which is what is needed to win a NC most years. Heck look at the NU game Nebraska was up 14-0 and then everything starts going OU's way. When an OU reciever catches a pass laying flat on his back, you know that you just can't win. Oh, I forgot to add. Big Game Bob hasn't been big game bob lately has he. OU hasn't been all that great lately and OU fans arn't all that happy. They could lose 2-3 more games this year easy and that won't sit well with the boosters. They could lose to Texas, WVa, ND, OSU, just to name a few.
  11. I am not sure that is completely true. His last year at Florida 2010, they were 8-5. That was year 6 for him at Florida. That was also first post Tim Tebow year. What that also proves is that with the right QB for your system you can do great things. UM took one look at Braxton Miller and said that is my Qb that is my next TT.
  12. Yes it would silence the crowd. Personally I don't think going undeafeted the rest of the way is all that far fetched. I am not sure it will happen, but I think it can happen. No team left on our schedual is as talented as OSU is. Unfortunately I think Nebraska may have helped them hit there stride. They may beat up on everyone else they play. Michigan is scarry yes, but it is a home game and Robinson is not nearly as good on the road as he is at home. MSU will be tough, but they really haven't got a lot on offense. Truthfully if the team has there head screwed on tight the rest the games should be Ws
  13. Yes, a very good breakdown. I like it because a high school coach of 20+ years I can relate to what he is saying. He takes the emotion out of the equation and shows what BP means by better execution. Everyone thinks BP says that and it is just words, but it really does come down to that in some ways. Bo could say he's gonna give everyone in this state 5000$ each, and people would still complain because it wasnt 10,000. That is usually the case with most coaches. We have already seen we have some husker fans with have a severe dislike for TO. No disrespect but your point is agenda driven.. just like what you are accusing others of. I said I understand what he means, but he needs to express what he is saying better than, we didn't execute or we need to execute better. If BP would just give a couple of general looks at what he means about not executing people would have a better understanding. Hail Varsity's breakdown just shows that even 1 thing out of place can cause a break down and a big play. The reason why you see BP riding Ankra after Millers TD run before half is illistrated in this break down. He was out of position. Whether he makes the play or not is debatable, becuase of the numbers aspect of it. But by being out of position he made the block on himself a whole lot easier. I am not picking on Ankra, I am just using it as an example. There are players out of position on every play on each side of the ball. That is what football is about. Getting your opponent out of position and having superior numbers at the point of attack. These are the things that BP wants to control and minimize. They didn't enough against OSU and when you combine that with a phenomanal athlete like Braxton Miller it is trouble.

  15. That UCLA game in 88 the score doesn't look all that bad, but If you watch the game, they show it on ESPN classic occationally, UCLA led Troy Aikman just killed NU. Terry Donehue took his foot off the gas big time in the second half.
  16. Yeah, it was real funny. What is his record without Cam Newton? What that shows is that 1 truely great player can really make that much of a difference. Braxton Miller is pretty close to that right now and in 2 years he will be very scary.
  17. No one said it wasn't the exception. The original post said it never happend. Which is not a true statement. I was at the 89 Orange Bowl and watched that 23-3 game. That was a complete destruction. It was worse than anything you saw Saturday night because Nebraska was completely outclassed talent wise. There was nothing they could do. Nebraska lost to OSU but had there chances if they didn't turn the ball over or if the defense gets even just a couple of stops in the second half
  18. That was probably the best article I have ever read from Bleacher Report. Not that it was great, but usually they arn't even close to that good. He makes some good points. When you hire an untested coach to be your man, you should expect a lot of growing pains. TO had them. If anyone says he didn't they are crazy and don't know. I remember my older brother very fondly calling for TO to be fired for quite a few years in the 70's.
  19. His formula works for him. Again there is no denying it. But you arn't looking at the big picture, you are looking at right now. Two years ago the mildcats were 6-6. Everyone on this board would have blown a gasket if NU was 6-6 in a year. They would have wanted BP fired. BS might be 6-6 next year. The reason why they are so good is Colin Klien. He is a great QB. Big, strong and was all the intangables. He is a winner Wasn't this his first year after returning from retirement? He was left a dumpster fire from the previous coach and had to rebuild the program. If I had to root for someone other than Nebraska it would be Ks St. In spite of the recruiting disadvantages inherant to Ks St, Bill S has produced a consistant winner. If we overcame our disadvantages as well as they have we would be a top 5 program. No, acutally it was his second. His first year he was like 7-5. He had the big back Daniel Thomas. He regressed his second year.

  21. Yes, he is doing it. Bill Snyder also has his own formula for success. It was not Nebraska's formula. He has had 2 good years so far since he came back. Lets see how he does next year.
  22. It is tougher now than it was back then. I know most call BS, but it really is. Heck its tougher for everyone not just NU. Do you know how long Alabama was really good? How long USC was really good? How Michigan and OSU, OU? Those were the dominate teams of the 50's through the 70's. Nebraska was right there with them starting in 1992. There are so many teams out there that are good solid programs now. Because the money is so great the scholarships are leveled and everyone has a monster weight room and training table. Nebraska's advantages are no longer there. They can't stock pile talent. Nebraska built FB players. Everyone builds then now. It is harder. I don't like the blowouts anymore than anyone else, but It may take a while.
  23. I'll take that bet. You really think Taylor's riding the pine after last night? Wow, you really put that loss on TM? I know he threw 3 int etc. etc. But, if you said before the game we score 38 pts and Rex has 120 rushing. Would you say we win the game? NU got beat because they couldn't stop BM. That is the most special player I have seen in a long time. He is way better than Tim Tebow ever thought about being. Nebraska lost becuase they couldn't stop BM. The game was close for a long time. The punt return broke their back and started to create doubt in the team's mind.
  24. Snyder is great with the media also. He is like listening to grass grow and paint dry at the same time. Why don't you guys just quit listening to the pressconferences.
  25. Their defense is better. And stopping Miller is easier said than done. And... we almost always turn the ball over. There are a great many "ifs" in your post --- and it is unlikely that any of the "ifs" go our way. So... OSU to win. OSU has more talent than anyone in our conference... it is just a matter of time for that talent to gel... I wish it were not so. But... I don't think OSU is more talented than NU overall. If I look at position to position I just don't see it. QB- I would say that BM is more talented than TM, doesn't mean he will play better though. RB- I think we are more talented and deep even if they wern't banged up. WR- NU is way more talented O-line I would say is a push TE- Stoneburner is good, but is not all world. I would say that is at least a push and Reed can stretch the defense better. D-Line - OSU has more talent LB's - I would say is a push DB- we are definitely more talented Kicking - NU I like this game. I think the pressure is all on OSU. Night games make for a great atmosphere but also for a lot of pressure on the home team IMO. OSU could come out really tight just like NU did against Wisky. I
