  1. I would listen to Matt all day before Peters. Matt at least could make fun of himself. I liked it when his mom would call. I just got tired of it being the Blue Jay network. I will say in Matts defense. The Jays are very easy to work with. UNL needs to hire their marketing guy. Yeah, I'm super-biased and not always objective when it comes to the Huskers. I always felt like he went out of his way to needle Nebraska fans, but that might have been an overreaction. I just remember little things. We stomp CU in Boulder in '05, and the next day on the air he's talking about how the win meant nothing. We lose, though, and the sky is falling. That's how I perceived him...but like I said, my obsession with all things Nebraska football clouds my judgement sometimes. Perraults problem was that he thought since his show was out of Omaha he was going to be a big Jays fan and you can't like NU football. Its an east coast thing. He didn't understand how you could like NU football and like Creighton BB. In his little Boston head it didn't make sense. He was a good interviewer, but a little too much Jim Rome in him.
  2. Because sometimes teams just play badly? There are a million different variables that affect the outcome of a football game. Wow, someone finally gets it. If a coach could always explain why a team plays badly than he would be the greatest coach in the world. Call it momentum, call it lack of focus, call it in the immortal words of Shane Falco, "Quicksand". Sometimes nothing goes right and you can't explain it. No one can explain how Nebraska loses 8 fumbles to ISU and loses that game. Sometimes it just happens. There is no way ISU should have beat Okie St. last year, but it happended. How did WVU beat Clemson 70 whatever to whatever in the Orange Bowl last year. If they played 10x it wouldn't happen again. How did NU beat Florida 64-28 in 1996. It was fun and I enjoyed the game a lot but no way do I believe NU was that much better than Florida. They were better by far, but the old quicksand hit Florida and it all went down hill.
  3. I liked it. Wasn't as good at TDK, but just a step below. I could hear and understand Bane just fine. I don't know about some of you guys. Doesn't it take all the fun out of a movie to sit and pick it apart and try to find holes in the plot line? I took a film class in college its called "Suspension of Disbelief". It's a superhero movie lighten up.
  4. I boil it down to one simple thing; I want them to play up to their ability. When they don't, I get down on them a little. When they do, I am happy. The W-L record or championships have very little to do with it. If they play to their ability it will almost always take care of eliminating embarrassing meltdowns and mindblowing losses. I may not be real happy if they play great and still lose but at least I understand that the better team won the game and I view that as better than playing poorly and getting a W over an inferior opponent. Execution is what I want to see. If you get that, those other things will take care of themselves 99% of the time. Well see that is the problem. No football team brings their A game every week it just doesn't happen. As I said earlier there are a lot fewer gimmies on anyone's schedule. If you don't bring your A game you have a chance to get beat. Nebraska lost to NW because NW was good enough that if the other team doesn't bring the A game and they do than it will be a dog fight. Nebraska under TO played plenty of games where they didn't play that great, but the competition was so bad that they didn't need their A game to win. It is just a different world in College football than it used to be.
  5. For me NU is getting back to where they should be. My expectations are that we should at least have a 50/50 chance to win every game they play. I think BP has brought NU back to that point. So many of you guys came of age during the run in the 90's and all you can remember is NU being completely dominant. Well it was not always that way. In the 70's and 80's Nebraska was always very good and could really beat up on lesser teams. That is the real difference between then and now. There were a lot fewer haves and a lot of have nots. Unless you lived through it you just don't understand. In the 80's KU, KSU, MU, ISU, and for a lot of the time OSU, and CU until the late 80's were awful. I mean really bad. Go look up their records. KSU went years where they only one 1-2 games. One year in the 80's KU and KSU the only win the other team had was against the other. All of those games were gimmies on NU's record. What's my point? My point is that back in the 70's and 80's there really were only about 10 teams that were really good year in and year out. In the 70's it was OU, USC, Alabama, Michigan, ND, Nebraska, OSU, PSU, UCLA sometimes thats about it. In the 80's you had PSU, FSU, Miami, Nebraska, Michigan, Washington, ND at the tell end of 80's they sucked for about 5 years, OU, UCLA and that is about it. I am sure I have missed some team but that is pretty close. USC was really very average for about 20 years before PC. Look at all the good teams now OU, OKie Light, Texas, USC, Oregon, VaTech, Alabama, LSU, Florida, OSU, PSU, Michigan, Mich St. Georgia, BSU, Nebraska. Now think of all the teams that arn't gimmies. How many gimmies in the Big 10? Maybe Indiana and Minnesota? HOw bout the SEC? None right now. It is a lot tougher to be really good than it used to be. I don't look at NU's scedule and see any game they can't win. I also don't see a lot of gimmies. That what makes it fun.
  6. Actually I don't think TM needs to rush for 1000 yards to be effective. Around 600 would suffice if the rest of the RB collectively get about 3000 to 3500. I think 2500 yds passing sounds nice and would be a good number. In a 12 game season that is only a little over 200 yds a game. I would like to see his TD to INT ratio at about 4 to 1. I personally think he will be a better QB this year. Last year he was still a little dinged up. One more year of maturity and a little better footwork throwing the ball will help a lot.
  7. You know I really liked the first movie. I liked the premise, I liked the action. I would imagine it is not too far off of what the real white slavery industry looks like. But, if they want to make another movie with Liam Neesom kicking a## and playing CIA agent dude great. Just don't change the location, Istanbul, and the person being taken, mom, and use basically the same script. Try something a little more original. All I can think of is the Hangover 2 and how it was basically the first movie in Bangkok.
  8. I actually like Lazenby as Bond. The one movie he was in IMO was one of the best. It actually showed bond have a little emotion for someone. You really don't see that until Daniel Craig in Casino Royal. I thought Brosnan was good as Bond, he was just a little old to play him. Roger Moore wasn't bad he just should have quit playing Bond about 3 movies before he did. He was like 55 when he did a View to a Kill.
  9. Excellent choice - can't believe I forgot to mention it. Absolutely wonderfully written and acted. Made you want to sell all your belongings and start over in Alaska. And like WKRP, the DVD releases kind of disappoint because they couldn't get the rights (or more accurately, couldn't afford the rights - thanks, music labels) to the music played on the shows. And the music was integral to the experience the shows brought. I just liked ogleing Janine Turner..Even if she WAS a texan. But yeah..The music probably was what kept me within earshot whenever it was on..And gave me a new appreciation for some obcure music..I'm vaguely hearing some accordian in the back of my head now..and maybe some Brudda IZ. And it's good to hear someone else had thoughts of chucking it all and going to Alaska..Despite my fear of Snow..My Siberian Husky would love it. Northern Exposure was a great show because it showed almost all the charactors being happing in their life. It didn't matter if they were rich or poor they just enjoyed life. They were a little quirky but happy. The last couple of years it was on were not very good though after Dr. Fleishman left the show it wasn't nearly as good.
  10. The Tick was awesome, I think Fox tried a live action version of that.... I liked MTV's liquid television, that gave rise to Beavis and Butthead, Aeon Flux, and a few others. The Adventures of Pete and Pete was a neat show, really bizarre though... There is no way they could bring it back but Twin Peaks was cool (or maybe I just thought I was hip by watching it) and Picket Fences (I think), another one of those goth kind of shows, Twin peaks meets X-Files. I loved The Tick. There were some very good cartoons in the 90's on Nickelodeon. Rocko's Modern Life and The Angry Beavers were great shows. Oh and don't forget about Ren and Stimpy. Have you seen Adventure Time. I don't know what channel it is on but my 9 year old loves it. The people that make it must be on some bad acid trip. One of my alltime favorite shows WKRP in Cinncinati. As God as my witness I thought turkeys could fly.
  11. I live up here and went to 3 BSU games last year. They will easily be 10-2 this season. They lose to MSU and maybe someone else. They have good players and more importantly they think they are good. They expect to be good and have high expectations. They do have a lot to replace, but they return almost all there top WR and a boat load of guys with experience. The offense will revert back to what they did before KM came into the picture. It will have a duel threat QB with quite a bit of zone read mixed in. They won't be as good, but they don't have to be a great team to win 10 games this year. Peterson is a great coach and does more with less than a lot of coaches in D-1
  12. I"m the one who pointed you towards Hooters in Boise. So where do you live? I live near Parma which is about 35 miles west of Boise. Moved here last June to start a business. I haven't been to the Hooters to watch the games but our Schwan's man is from Ne and he says get there at least 2 hours before game time or you won't get a seat.
  13. Agree completely NU was going into score and fumbles. What would that have put us up by? Then the hail mary just killed them. Team composure is the thing that needs to improve the most on this team. Three of the 4 loses are directly related to not being able to handle adversity and falling apart.
  14. The offense really doesn't have to improve that much to be a lot more productive. TM needs to complete 62-64% of his passes that is really only about 3 more a game if his attempts stay the same. We need better ball security and better redzone efficiency. We settle for too many FG tries. Cut down on penalties. Five a game is the max. Penalties are drive killers. Three to 4 less offensive penalties a game kills 3-4 less drives a game. We need better production out of the Punt return game. Our returners had no room to return things so that resulted in a lot of lousy start points. The thing that really needs to improve though is the defense.
  15. I liked the Dupree one and Pony Excess. The one about Jimmy the Greek was good so were the ones about the first baseball fantasy league and the one about the USFL. Hated the one about Ricky Williams and didn't care for the one about Allen Iverson or the One about OJ Simpson
  16. agree, good starting point, let's see what happens from here. KSU won't win 10 games this year. Everything went exactly right for them last year. They won every close game they had, 8-4 will be the best they do. #17 is a good place to start. I can't believe how down some of you guys are about the Huskers. You guys give other teams way too much credit. Everyone else can improve, but NU can't? Wisky doesn't have Wilson anymore and O'brian isn't Wilson. They lose 3 games next year including the 1 against NU. Don't count on Meechicken being a one loss team. They are 1 big hit on DR away from losing 5 games. Heck they sitll could lose 5 games he is as streaky a player as they come. The media just loves DR. He is a good interview counter that with TM who is a lousy interview. They did get lucky a couple of times last year. OSU should be better
  17. You always have to replace people in college football, that is what makes it so much more fun than watching the NFL. One year doesn't have to have anything to do with the next year. NU went 5-7 in 2007 so that means they should have done that in 2008. Except they didn't they went 9-4. What was KSU's record in 2010 6-6? or somthing like that. Wern't they 10-2 in the regular season? Alabama lost 3 games in 2010, how did they win the national title last year? I think the NU will be better next year becuase they were so young in 2011. They lost 4 games 2 they probablyshould not have lost NW and SC. I guess I don't understand all the debbie downers. College football is suppose to be fun. I want them to win them all and play for the national championship, but only two teams get to do that so there are going to be a lot of dissapointed people if that is all that matters.
  18. I agree about the defense. I think we will see a big improvement. I don't thing they will jump back into the top ten in defense, but I do expect something in the 20's. Which will still be a big improvement.
  19. Very true, but all they have to go on is last season. KSU won't go 10-2 next year or what ever they went. The came out on top of all the close games.
  20. I can see flaws on this team. What always makes me chuckle is the people that can't see flaws on other teams. I am not saying that is you it just made me think of it.
  21. #2 is a very good point. Didn't really think about how little the big 3 did play together last year. Dennard really was only healthy for about the last 5 games of the season and crick only played healthy in the first 2 games.
  22. You make it sound as false as they do, that Bo rips on him all the time. Funny how they had to go back almost 2 YEARS to find such an instance. Taylor was very stead after the Wisconsin game. He had as few interceptions as anyone. Finally watched the segment. IMO they wern't too harsh. I agree they did bag on TM a lot. I don't think he regressed either. I really do think he was still bothered by the injuries from the year before. Turf toe and High ankle sprains are the worst things you can get without tearing something and can take months or even a year to really get over. He had one really bad game at Wiskey but other than that he was not why we lost the other 3 games. His throwing motion is what it is. He completed 56% last year which is not completely horrible. If he hits about 3 more passes a game he is at 62-63%. That would be very exceptable. Remember recievers have to catch the ball also. Think about all the drops last year. At least 1 drop a game and multiple in many games.
  23. I haven't watched it yet, but they gave Clemson yesterday very little love also. They did fall all over themselves over Florida at 20 and VaTech at 19. Most of us Husker fans think it is hate that ESPN has for our beloved Huskers. What it really is a lack of understanding. Nebraska is an anomoly in there way of thinking. They do not understand how a state from the midwest with a very small population base could have been so good at football for so long. It makes no sense in their east coast minds. These football talks like this are also driven by TV sets. Nebraska doesn't have enough TV sets to talk about. Thats why FSU and ND can lose 5-6 games a year and they will still talk about them. They only talk seriously about NU when they are really good and they have to.
  24. I have a hard time putting UM 1st. He hasn't coached in the B10 yet, plus something about him makes me think used car salesman. Pat Fitz probably does more with less. Jerry Kill is a great coach. I would put Belima 1st and Dantonio 2. Right now BP, Fitz, and Ferentz are about the same in my book. I wouldn'[t rank any coach that hasn't coach a year in the big10. I also don't think 1 year is enough to evaluate Hoke. I think they have a set back and go 8-4 this year.
  25. I'm pretty sure A. Shanle started at least his senior year. Scott has a SB Ring with New Orleans.
