  1. Not really under this banner, but kinda related
  2. I can't speak to the fraud, but unless you plan to bring back the draft, or force conscription, pay and benefits must be above average. How else do you entice able bodied troops to stay past their original 3 or 4 years. If you want qualified experienced soldiers to stay, you have to offer a good pension/retirement opportunities.
  3. You're right, I should view it from the relief to their employees standpoint, and not from the relief to the entity itself.
  4. Well, now I am not sure. I thought I read earlier that Met got $900mil, but now I can't find it. It may have been in reference to their cut of the initial stimulus back in March. The $15bil for "save our stages" is valid.
  5. I have no problem if they get the same relief as other employers. Did Sheldon MoNA in Lincoln get $1bil earmarked? Did the Lincoln Railyard complex of businesses get $15bil earmarked? We both know the answer.
  6. The Metropolitan got $1bil by itself. $15bil went to "Save our Stages". As one Tweet I saw stated "so, American citizens get $600. That or one ticket to an event at the Met". I too think that overall they are worthwhile entities, but absolutely disagree that they would be included at this time/in this bill.
  7. $1.4 billion is peanuts compared to the $15-$30 billion for the arts. I don't think we need a physical wall, but I wish the focus wasn't so intentionally disingenuous.
  8. A good read. Other than the geographic generalization, I think I am now considered a "Red Dog"
  9. There was discussion of this earlier: What’s not in the bill: Liability protection for companies whose employees get coronavirus, which Republicans have backed for months, was not including in the final negotiations or bill; Democrats laid aside sizable funds for state and local governments in return.
  10. Another game, in a Covid shortened season, couldn't hurt. However, I would take the additional step that ONLY returning players get to play. The seniors who don't want to return just had their last game...and ended on a high note.
  11. I seem to remember grumbling, but it didnt stick,, likely due to the fact that Trump garnered less tallies in the popular vote.
  12. Are you kidding? I am sorry you are sick of it all. But it is a legitimate concern, that will be on the forefront for the next 6mos to a year...unless you know of a secret stash of about 250mil doses, there will have to be some method of triage. Let's check out 2 examples that should be near the head of the line. If you ask my dad, who is 75, he would tell you to give it to his grandkids or greatgrandkids, so they can have a chance to live a full life...that he already has. If you ask my wife, who is a Frontline healthcare worker, she would tell you to give it to her sister, who is a diabetic and asthmatic. Do you know why? Because Covid killed her brother, another severe diabetic, about 10 months ago, before they were really testing for it, and she would rather not lose another sibling. So, maybe read the room (you were the 9th distinct person to reply) before you start bashing people's discussion about an issue that will be hotly contested in the months to come.
  13. While I still think it farfetched, this is exactly the type of move that would lend credence to the idea that Trump is planning some sort of armed insurrection
  14. It specifically says small businesses and non-profits
