  1. Sipple tweeted earlier today that he expects to see Cross used a lot tomorrow... I'm with you though HuskerinOkieland, I can't wait to see him in action.
  2. What prompted you to even bring up the stuttering? My wife is a Speech-Language Pathologist and works with kiddos and adults who struggle mightily to overcome the social stigma against those who stutter. Ultimately, Shatel should be applauded for his courage to conduct an audio newscast knowing people are listening and making judgements (e.g., your aforementioned comments) anonymously on a sports thread.
  3. This picture from LJS is incredible.... (remember... its a subscription site... so I just included it here). There are a few more pics, but this one is too good not to share. Here is the link to the page: http://journalstar.c...f869d1f2d4.html
  4. Here is another article, much like the one Knapp posted... includes a mock-up of East stadium entrance: "On Saturday, when NU opens its season against Southern Miss, fans with seats in the East Stadium will get their tickets scanned outside of the construction area -- near the Loop -- and will be funneled in through the center of the burgeoning facade." http://journalstar.com/news/local/east-stadium-will-be-done-next-year-but-for-now/article_ff41e57c-9d92-5cc9-af1a-20f98940842e.html
  5. I think he's having some fun with the media and fans. No kidding! I was thinking the same thing. I think some people can't read/listen between the lines Regardless of your judgements upon my ability (or inability) to "read between the lines" there is much more to his "joking" than simply having a good time. This kid really has a lot on his shoulders, and those shoulders often face the wrong way when he's trying to complete a pass. So his funny-business reminds me of the anxiety I had many times he passed the ball. I hope for everyone's sake that he has been able to commit some of those throwing mechanics to muscle memory... Saturday will tell. Here is the actual quote: >>Martinez appeared to say that he may revert back to parts of his old throwing motion in Saturday’s game. Check out the quote: “We’ll see what happens during the game,” Martinez said. “I may go back to my old way, maybe I won’t. It’s a game situation. Whatever comes out in me, comes out. We’ll see how I do.” From OWH: http://sports.omaha....repare-for-usm/
  6. Cotton on Blatchford* getting scholarship: "He told me, 'I didn't come here to get a scholarship, I came here to play football'" Thats a pretty sweet quote too. *I think that was who he was quoting...
  7. Nebraska has had tons of icons... I don't think there is any doubt that Rex will be one of them. His character alone is the definition of Nebraska athletics.
  8. Burkhead talking about his lack of media-Heisman hype: "All I really want is a Big Ten Title Game. My main mission is to win a Big Ten Title game"
  9. Where his feet are matters more to me than his throwing motion. Just get the ball to his receivers. Yeah, I think the whole "throwing motion" problem with T-Mart starts with the feet... and moves on up. So, when he fields questions about his throwing motion it likely includes feet, hips, shoulders, arms and that helmet. Don't get me wrong, if the ball gets to his receivers I am a happy Husker fan. The reality, however, is that his ability to get that ball to his receivers will be dramatically helped by better "throwing motion" mechanics.
  10. ...and Martinez wants to try out for the Olympics... I like this kid, but man, he is a loose cannon with his comments.
  11. T-Mart on his throwing motion: "I might go back to my old ways... its kind of a game time thing" Yikes.
  12. ...like someone stole the thread?!
  13. ...6 days until game time... if they make it out of the hurricane! http://eaglepost.net...php?f=2&t=31068
  14. This map is helpful as it shows an actual picture of the view from each section at varying distances up the stadium seats. http://tickets.ucla.edu/map/rosebowl.html
  15. I am bringing 9 Husker fans (my wife and I live in OC), my brother and his wife (Husker Alum and Marine and wife from San Diego), my parents (20 year+ season ticket holders), In-laws (former Cheerleader with NU in the 70's)... we are in section 10. I'm betting that at least half the stadium is red. Can. Not. Wait. It'll be good to see my fellow Huskers invade LA.
  16. Hey... just covering my bases. It'd be super annoying if you really couldn't see the original post. I'm looking out for all you non-Portuguese reading members. Couldnt tell ya because this paragraph here?, yeah, I dont speak portuguese.
  17. Okay, so to clarify: You literally cannot read it because of a text error. ...or... You do not understand the overused vernacular of social media and, therefore, do not understand what was written?
  18. The University athletic department has rolled out a rewards program based upon brand promotion. Essentially, you can accumulate points by "liking" approved posts on approved facebook sites (e.g., Memorial Stadium's fb page, Husker Soccer page, etc) or by retweeting approved twitter accounts (e.g., @HuskerVball, @BoPelini) or by tweeting hashtags #Huskers and #GBR. The accumulated points eventually will allow the user to purchase items from the athletic store... with some additional things for top earners like "Sideline experience" and signed game balls. Here is the website: http://www.huskerfanrewards.com So, innovative and fun brand promotion? ...or going to be a total flop?
  19. Is it lame that I check this thread close to hourly just to see if knapp's pictures have been uploaded? Seriously, anyone that has contributed pictures has really helped bring The Sea of Red alll throughout Husker Nation. I'm thankful for you all... now upload those pics!
  20. According to ESPN's Brian Bennett, Nebraska has the best overall preseason position rankings in the B10, while MSU comes in at 4th. Bennet: "This outcome is somewhat surprising, as I did not expect Nebraska to come out on top. But the Huskers didn't have any low rankings, and indeed, they does not have any glaring weak spots heading into the fall. It's more of a question of whether this team has enough difference-makers in key spots." On MSU: "The Spartans probably would have finished on top if not for their low scores at quarterback and receiver. And, of course, those are the real question marks for this team." http://espn.go.com/b...sition-rankings
  21. Over the past 6 years, Memorial Stadium has averaged well above 85,000 per game: 85,888 - 2009 (601,216/7 Games) 85,664 - 2010 (599,648/7 Games) 85,070 - 2008 (680,564/8 Games) 85,044 - 2006 (595,309/7 Games) http://www.huskers.c...&ATCLID=3755385 So, with the addition of 6,000 seats (and assuming those club loges are packed), we can realistically project the average capacity will increase to at least 90,000... I wouldn't be surprised to see the occasional 95,000. Edit: An interesting addition: in my fraternity days, we would "sneak in" nearly 20 people by passing off our tickets (not every student was allowed to purchase season tickets per the ticket lottery). I know that most fraternities and sororities did this... so, the average attendance of the student section alone is vastly underestimated, and has been for years.
  22. Well played... Sincerely, Persa Power Dan
  23. The more exposure I have with those alt-unis (especially in daylight and without a weak horns section blaring in the background) the more I like them. No, they're not going to stick around... but shoot... if the players (and future recruits) like 'em for one game, then so do I.
  24. I was wondering if this ment they won't put the balcony until after this season is over. Yeah, same question here. Looks like they put the lights on the front of where the general seating area is gonna go. Is this just temporary for the first couple of games? I can't imagine they would stop all the iron work now as they will need to get the cranes out of there sooner rather than later you would think. Not temporary, engineer said final position. Signed Joe Bauserman Engineer, Electrical Contractor I don't see how those lights could possibly be in their final position. They'd be underneath (and in front of) many of the club and general seats... Surely they'll be moved above the stadium as seen in the mock-ups right?
