Good teams overcome this, bad teams will make excuses.Sorry, circadian rhythms are what they are......it greatly benefits the local team and increases the sloppiness of the Huskers. The Huskers were over-rated and are now on everyone's radar as well.....so your statement about good and bad teams has some truth to it except there is no black and white to what is good and bad. On a good day the Huskers are good. I'd say they need more consistent and all-around good players. One of those has a broken arm.I'm sorry. I've been living here since 1989 I have seen teams come in on a tuesday afternoon, play wednesday night and beat UH then go home that night. When Uh was a member of the old WAC. Air force, Wyoming, colo st, UTEP would come to town for 36 hours and leave with a W. Maybe if nebraska could make free throws(missed 6 in a row at one time), maybe not starting down 0-2 before one second has been played, maybe of pettaway had his shīt together, maybe if nebraska knew how to beat a 1/2 court trap we would be playing right now vs WSU. Time and Travel had nothing to do with the loss. Poor play did. Btw miles had the choice of this game or the afternoon game, he choose to play Hawaii. I understand that and what you say is all true about this team's problems, but I have a problem with scheduling a game that is midnight to 2 AM our time and expecting the players to be at their best. Not saying it can't be done..... but Collier's team was dragging ass the same way when they got beat by Div 2 Fairbanks. I call it a fluke.

This could easily be a 10 win team right now and an 11 win team after the Bowl game......why would Nebraska not be relevant? I don't understand all the Husker fans predicting a loss in the bowl game....whatever?? I'll expect the best from the Huskers ,........ to hell with ESPN and whoever these other people are.

The same thing happened in Alaska. You can't expect your team to travel halfway around the world, play at 2 in the morning, and expect good results against a team playing at their normal time on their own court. I'd just chalk this one up as a fluke. With that said, we need a big man and some guys who can handle a little pressure bringing the ball up.....hurry back Moses.

First of all, NU fans didn't treat Kevin Cosgrove badly because he was a nice guy. It was because he was utterly incompetent. Second, Kevin Cosgrove was known to many as an arrogant asshat. A family friend of ours has a son who now plays in the NFL. Nebraska was at the top of his list his senior year in hs--until they dealt with Cosgrove during the recruiting process. The kid ended up at a B1G school instead. (We were in the Big 12 back then.) To this day they'll tell you how Kevin Cosgrove was the most arrogant jerk they encountered during the recruitment process. As soon as he had a bad game there was nothing good about him. Guys like you are gonna need to be on your best behavior from now on. And your little personal anecdote there was really cute...I bet nobody can come up with one as good as that.....after the next bad game.

if SE was biding his time he missed the perfect time after the Iowa game last year. Bo was asking to be fired. if SE was brought in to fire Bo that was the perfect opportunity. Why didn't Bo get fired last year if that was SE's mission? SE's gonna come in his first year and fire a 9 win coach for what? You do realize that many people around the country are shaking their head and laughing at Nebraska? I expect Riley to get anything he wants from this administration after this fiasco.... Bo actually helped Riley a lot with his last childish shots at SE. And no, Bo was not asking to be fired...he was saying if I'm gonna get the cold shoulder and have to work with this obvious Perlman setup, then you might as well fire me now......but they needed to wait for an acceptable excuse, like a bad loss in the game against booster Barry Alvarez.

I have no problem at all with Bo calling Shatel and chewing his ass......as a matter of fact that's exactly what every coach should do if he has a problem with the weird herald; go right to the source. Okay with me if he gives Shatel the 'I'm forty, I'm a man!!!' speech. I went over to a YSU board to see what they thought about Bo's ranting and while there were two goody two shoes types going 'tisk tisk, that's not acceptable here' ,most of them were laughing up their sleave. I don't think they care and I doubt it will be a problem in that kind of program.

McBride was ready to retire with TO. He only stayed on for 2 more years as a favor to TO and Solich. That's what they said........then five years later he had interest in another job. We should have forced him to coach....somebody should've leaned on him.

Hindsight is 20/50..........I would've picked Charlie McBride over Frank Solich.

I already posted this somewhere else but agree it's gotten pretty lame on the football front. Our team loves warm weather, really flew around in the 90 degree games...........they love playing at night......they should be excited about going to San Diego, seeing the sights and staying in a luxury hotel.......many of our players will be healed up from the long break, but so will USC's.......a couple coaches, namely the OC and DC might think they have something to prove and our seniors will certainly want to go out with a bang......Barney Cotton called USC a big tough team similar to the Georgia team we played and I'm thinking that's pretty accurate. Will USC be too physical for our depleted line and be in our backfield every play? Beats me. Will we compensate for our weaknesses with counters and big runs by our stars out in space? I got nothin'. Are we the equal of BC who ran all over them even with their all-pro D Lineman in there tearing up the place? Chirp chirp. Will our run defense shut them down or make their ordinary California style rb's with some moves and skills look like OJ running through the airport? (crickets) Will our db's cover their receivers like a glove without grabbing, the way they're capable of playing? moo (ran out of things, had to make one up) I guess we'll find out which team shows up when the time comes.

Then today Matt Schick was on Bahe,s show and he said he knew a guy at the wirld herald that got berayed on the phone by bo first thing one morning. Theres just no excuse for this garbage. And i apologize to Dirk, shatel,ckewon, all the media cuz i always thiught they were bein asshats at times when frankly they had reasons. And they coulda been a lot worse.Can we hear these rants or is this just the overbearing local media covering for each other? Next subject will be why each paper has so freaking many sports reporters.Next is why every former player has a radio show.so you dont believe he would do such a thing? You havent seen enough to be able to not be shocked over something like this? Hell, if he flipped and went on a spree of robbing smoke outlets, i wouldnt be shocked at all.Yeah, I think he might challenge what they say about his players and he has as much right to do that as the 50 of them have to write their stupid articles based on what we happen to be talking about that day. They act like it's a one-way street and he just has to sit there and take it. At the end of the day, maybe he should've enlisted some of us to do it for him......really rip them a new one every day.....question their outrageous salaries and qualifications? That would've been a blast. Now I can't wait for Dirkie Downer to go off on Riley.part of the job as a head coach at a mojor program like this is being able to and educating your players to be able to block out and not pay attention to the outside negatives. And the crap that goes on here goes in everywhere. Once you do what Bo did, abd give that stuff the keys to your apartment, youre as good as done. Having lived here most of my life I think this IS a special place when it comes to the entire state obsessing about every detail concerning Husker football. I'm sure there are others like it...Alabama, Texas, Notre Dame.....and Bo was not cut out to handle the nuttiness here in the home of the reluctant astronaut, but I'm not sure anyone is......especially since the Solich era when the internet took off. It wasn't anything like this before that in regards to the intense badgering from all directions and the ability of any worn out jock to make a name for himself by scrutinizing the team. Riley seems pretty shrewd for such a nice guy and hopefully he'll be able to handle it.

This one stuck out to me (didn't read most of the rest because of paragraphs!). There are definitely Husker fans beholden to the consecutive near-Top 20 finishes. Although if we had won even more, there would be even more. Winning > everything is a mindset that takes hold everywhere. if you're asking me.....no ,it was definitely Scott back when Solich was coach.... if I remember right, he was too damn slow. It wasn't this board......Scout I think...it's been a while.
