  1. I think the Athletic Department, boosters and many ordinary fans looked at the insanity that message board gangs, needy sports writers, former players with no marketable skills except radio analysis and the 24/7 sports talk reality shows have become and decided enough is enough. Discuss, yell, cry, pout all you want......now everyone knows who is in charge.....as it should be.
  2. Eichorst is a new AD so he gets a break, but a little more clarity from the head office would've put down the revolutionaries of the internet who seem to think their participation on a chat board gives them the authority to run the team through the local sports reporters who are too lazy to think of their own ideas. These boards are just a place to yell at your friends and nothing more.
  3. Now I can't wait for next season to see how the competition for qb between Armstrong and Stanton shakes out....assuming those will be the guys. I think Beck has the right idea to have a great passing game that recruits are drawn to while still being able to control the TOP with a strong running attack. Hopefully next season we'll be able to maintain a healthy line like the one we started the year with that gave us the outstanding pass protection. I'm also looking forward to watching what our young defense can do now that they're figuring it out. Who knows....maybe instead of scowling, Bo will start cracking jokes in response to all the stupid questions and reality show baiting?
  4. Exactly my thought. I cracked up and loved what he said. I just think he should laugh more when they try to set him up like that. When it's our own local reporters doing it, I'd ask them to explain exactly what point they're trying to make in detail. Then I'd ask them what message board they stole that one from.
  5. that "its great" comment really caught me by surprise. I was in the tunnel today with my 14YO at the end of half time, and we were yelling for bo and the team to keep playing hard, trying to push them on, then he says that in the interview about the support in the tunnel and he can only get a very obvious "meh its great" out... and let me tell you his word said "its great" but his tone said GO TO HELL... ...are you really that big of an ass or just stupid...thank everyone for the support, smile and go on...man he sucks at the spin thing ......btw I did notice in the tunnel today someone said something and he glared at them for about 5 seconds...it could have been nice, but the look on his face made me think it wasn't something nice, and all I could think was...dude rise above it, you should be too big to react to someone if they were being an idiot. The attitude of the coaches and players toward the fans tells me that I don't really know what kind of crap they've been dealing with.
  6. Don't kid yourself.. Lack of money for a buyout ain't keeping Bo here. In hindsight, it just appears the higher ups were giving Bo the rope to hang himself. I just don't think anyone expected Bo to weave the rope, tie the noose, throw it over the second deck of the lounge in North Stadium and kick the chair out. Like I said...pure speculation. You gotta admit, it's been a weird day. Sure seems like something toxic is going on between the staff and the admin. Hey, how did you feel after the two interceptions? Could you do me a favor and have all your friends call the ESPN sportstalk shows with the answer to that?
  7. In hindsight , the way Bo was acting suggests to me that there may have been some things said before the game about expectations.....like "we'd fire you if not for all the money we'd have to pay". Knowing that he's a handshake kind of guy and probably not liking the feeling that he may be dealing with a snake, maybe he purposely gave them the room to do what they wanted? All pure speculation based on how he just told it like it is today. The team made huge strides throughout the year despite being injured almost everywhere. They play hard for this staff , don't give up and have nothing to apologize for...like he said. To me it's about how you play and I like this team and the way they play. I probably couldn't coach for two weeks because I'd be much more likely than Bo to tell them to kiss my ass if they don't like it. I won't even get into the reality show that the announcers and refs are trying to pull off.
  8. Good questions. The coaching staff has fixed a hell of a lot in a short amount of time. I'm very pleased with the way we played in the MSU game except for the TO's. Not just on this board but every Husker forum I've seen has a bunch of "fans" I'd like to fire....I'm guessing many of them are the same person with different handles and they just like to run their mouth no matter what happens. I say we stay the course and expect that the NU administration will do just that. If the team looks inept next year then I expect it will be an entirely different outlook.
  9. Good comments, I was thinking in terms of how to manage the two (healthy) QB rotation going forward rather than inciting the side debate that followed (wow). I hope we'll see the "hot hand" approach, I think this staff tries to script things out a bit too much as evidenced by a tendency to appear outcoached during games, even when it comes to simple adjustments. I think for going on ten years now I've been saying attack on defense and run more option, LOL. Yeah, and the same goes for the way we insert certain running backs and they always run a certain type of play. We need to be less predictable. Going by the same script all the time actually makes it harder for guys like Cross and Newby to shine and less scoring means guys like Frazier don't even get in the game (which greatly pisses me off.) Now that I think about it, is Kellogg capable of throwing a shovel pass to Abdullah? I think so. Can he throw a slant to Bell? I think so. The choice of plays has a heck of a lot to do with our perception of either qb. The game where Beck was calling all Cosby passes for Armstrong, he looked like total crap. Give him high percentage choices and he looks like Peyton Manning. I give the edge to Tommy in the run game, that's about it. And in defense of Beck, that game was already in the bag and seeing what your guy can do was the right thing for that time. You have to judge each qb's performance relative to what they were faced with at the time. 3 picks in a blowout where your OC is experimenting with new things is much different than throwing one when the game is on the line....but that seems to be lost on some of the board statisticians.
  10. If Johnny Stanton is as good as they say he is then this may make a big difference next year. I'm not sure there's a huge difference in game planning for TA and RK3.

  12. I think our success has more to do with the focus on Abdullah than any of the quarterbacks. It looks like Martinez is done for the year. Should RKIII play? Kind of tough to shut him out now....glad I don't have to decide. Both Armstrong and Kellogg have had stretches where they struggled mightily.....I'd just play the hot hand and forget the system, I guess.
  13. You said a mouthful there, buddy. It's like the 2nd string was playing and they came through bigtime. I'm really proud of those guys.
  14. I think we were fooled by Minnesota. We planned to cover the ends and they ran right at us. Plus, it turns out Minn is no slouch. I think the Husker D has turned the corner and the players are understanding where they fit in. Now if we could figure out that dink and dunk passing game that's killing us...maybe jump some of those for pick 6's. I'm sure our guys would rather play aggressive and take their chances on leaving open the big play. We had chances at a couple picks but just couldn't pull them in.
  15. You could tell Bo was really choked up in the postgame about the effort our guys gave today.
  16. I'd say Gregory is the best DE or what they used to call Rush End since Kyle Vanden Bosch. Despite the BS going around about our lack of recruiting, we have some talented players who can bring it if they're allowed to play and not hamstrung by some goofy plan. Gregory always seems to be in the right place to make the big play.
  17. They're right there between Fort Worth and Austin.....all the Texas kids who were rejected by UT needed was a reason to believe and they seem to have found it. Also, the exit of teams from the Big 12 may have helped their recruiting when it comes to players who want to be seen by their friends and family.
  18. I haven't seen this discussed much. Minnesota ran right at us and pretty much dominated the LOS, but we didn't have huge busts like we have in the recent past. I expected NW to get big runs around the end like they did in previous seasons. We held that in check for the most part and the D played at least as good if not better than the O. Of course NW's running QB had a bad ankle and couldn't run as good this time. I didn't expect our D to turn into the Chiefs over night, but I think we have shored up some areas and maybe figured out what we do best. What do you think?
  19. I think you're onto something there. TA looks good in that formation and it gives AA a chance to run downhill. The problem is the entire offense has been built on something else and I don't know if they could switch at this point and run the rest of the playbook.
  20. Didn't realize we played ISU this year We don't. It's Michigan, Michigan St, Penn St, and Iowa. Everyone wants Bo to win a conference title and a bowl (including me). The only way that happens is if they get to the CCG (simple logic, but true). I know. It was meant to be sarasm, sorry shoulda used this instead But ,besides proofreading, you didn't actually say anything about wanting to play in the CCG.??
  21. Didn't realize we played ISU this year Yeah, there's that proofreading....Iowa ,of course.
  22. I've heard this asked by radio sports guys a few times ...kind of like a rhetorical question where they're scrunching up their face and assuming we'd get destroyed if we made it there.....like maybe it's better if we just stay away. I say OF COURSE we want to play in the championship game. If we make it there I'm assuming we've already beaten Michigan, Iowa , and Michigan State.......if we can do that then we can certainly give Ohio State a run for their money and possibly upset them. I hear a bunch of fans talking like they're ready to throw in the towel. We've seen some pretty good flashes from our guys and I feel like we should either get behind them 100% or go mow the yard;...we don't need the negativity hanging around and festering. This post has been edited. You can also include a win or loss against Penn State to formulate your opinion if you would like to.
  23. Since this thread is still hovering around here.....there were times in the NW game when I thought Martinez would've been the best qb to play for that situation. If you have to pass then TM is far more experienced with routes, has for the most part gotten over throwing picks just to make something happen, and is pretty darned accurate when he has time to look. It's his injuries that keep us from wanting him to run and that limits what we can do.
