  1. Just saw it on his twitter page as well. This is not going to be good
  2. ??? Don't agree? Many people here would actually agree with me in regards to Marrow being a solid recruiter. I don't know who is the lead recruiter for all of the guys we have committed and who we are working on but I will say that marrow has made very fast inroads in Ohio and that, in my opinion, is worth getting him on staff
  3. Lets also remember that none of these kids have signed anything. They can have 100 verbals right now but come February they can only sign 25 for 2013 (not including early enrolments) and 85 for the team.
  4. Back to topic. I just want to see some nasty DT's like the old days of the Peter Brothers. If Hooks fits that mold and is willing to come here, then I say we are going to be in fine shape.
  5. And, like I said, he is being slow played (somewhat) because of Priest. As of now, we do not have room for him unless something changes with Cook or we feel as if Priest is a no go. If they are slow playing a talent like Dashon Hunt, then we have big problems. You don't slow play a player like this. Take a look at the top recruiting classes of other teams. They stock pile these players no matter what and we better as well. Having said this, I don't believe this is the case. Just a hunch.
  6. UTEP hired a Pittsburgh Steelers assistant as their HC today. So if Beck goes anywhere this year, it won't be El Paso.
  7. I am not up to speed on recruiting but UCLA just received their 8th OL commit for the year. Is this normal? Seems like a lot.
  8. Scout shows him committing to Louisville today
  9. What are our chance's of landing this kid? Not great, I would say it's between tOSU and UCLA. Wouldn't that make 8 OL commits to UCLA if he went there? Seems extreme for a class. Think he is being recruited for a DT spot. Whoops. I may need to learn to read before I post a comment like that again. Still, though, 7 OL commits is a lot.
  10. Let's put that quote from Bo's point of view. "A couple of things didn't go my way with Kyle Shortridge, Donovan Munger etc. and it didn't go the way I planned it, so he(Antoine Miles) came up and we talked to him an dI figured this could be my last shot. I was very interested in him and I went ahead and offered him a scholarship." Just because neither was the other's first option doesn't mean you can't be excited how it might turn out. Well said
  11. 5.1 might be fast compared to what we have on the DL now.
  12. What are our chance's of landing this kid? Not great, I would say it's between tOSU and UCLA. Wouldn't that make 8 OL commits to UCLA if he went there? Seems extreme for a class.
  13. The way I read this is that he felt strong about Cincy and now Jones is no longer the coach so he is not happy about it. Fine by me. I will take him and any other DL we gave schollies to to fill the ranks.
  14. Gotcha. If anyone wants to shut this down or merge with the other, feel free. I guess I didn't see it posted yet.
  15. Rivals and Scout has him as a 3 star. The way our D line is, we need warm bodies.
  16. 247 is showing that an Antoine Miles from Canton, OH just committed. 6-3, 240 lbs. SDE. No rating. Timeline shows he was offered and accepted today. Anyone know anything more about this?
  17. It was good to hear that Beck was asking for the commitment last night. Good time for the coaches to get aggressive.
  18. Lmao. You do realize that they all play eachother right? Thats kind of how a conference works. Just because they lose to eachother does not mean that they aren't better than all the other conferences. They are. The SEC as a whole is not dominant. The top 6 are very, very good and the rest are average with a good year once in a while. LSU, Bama, Florida are the only consistently good programs for them as of late. That is not a dominant conference. That is 3 dominant teams
  19. Michigan front loaded their schedule this year. / Okay, sorry for the smartass comment. lol I do get your point. And I've long thought we should schedule a couple of our cupcake games in Oct./Nov. to give our guys a breather during conf. play. I think you meant to say they loaded the back of their pants with Bama and ND. I think it could help with recruiting as well if we get kids to visit when the weather is nicer and we are not playing Idaho St and maybe have Iowa, Penn State, Michigan...
  20. To me, this speaks volumes to the quality of our wins vs. the quality (lack thereof) of our losses. Unlike Bama, Boise and Oregon, we haven't shown much at all in the arena of winning big games, and that is what hurts the 9-win argument the most. An in addition to that, 9 wins used to earn the Huskers a top 10 ranking every year. 9 wins today barely gets us into the top 25. In fact we'll likely fall out with 10 wins after the bowl games. The one thing that Dirk did not bring up, though was that with Boise St Petersen took over a strong program in a weak conference that Dan Hawking built. With Oregon, Kelly took over a program on the rise when Belotti retired. With Alabama, Saban took over for a program that was stagnant but not necessarily as bad as what the Huskers were when Pelini came in. So the point I am trying to make is that Kelly and Petersen have maintained and excelled since taking over. Saban dominated after his first year (6-6). Pelini has done a pretty good job all things considered. Dan Hawkins did not build the Boise State program. It was Koetter who built Boise State. He was hired away by Arizona State, and was then fired by Arizona State. This is why I'd be very scared of hiring Petersen considering how the two coaches before him performed once they left the safe haven of Boise, ID. Saben took over a Bama program riddled with sanctions. Bama was not very good, and Franchione bolted when the program got hit with even more sanctions. If you want to compare us and our situation to another team, you should look no further than Florida. Zook was a pretty good recruiter, but he was a horrible coach. Meyer walked in and immediately turned things around. Clownahan was a pretty good recruiter, but he was a horrible coach. Bo hasn't quite got us around the corner yet. The biggest difference between Bo and Meyer is the fact that Bo hasn't recruited nearly as well. I forgot about Koetter but I think my point was that it was built before Petersen and he has maintained a good level of wins. Meyer did turn things around at Florida but he also had 3 out of 6 seasons where he had 3+ losses. Granted, 2 of the other 3 were NC winners. Saban came in after Shula. He did not do a bad job all things considered but was stagnant so they got Saban and the rest is history. As far as what Bo took over, there was a decent amount of attrition that came down on Callahacks recruits and we also lost out on some due to him getting fired (Blaine Gabbert). We could have been further along than where we are. I just don't think Dirk's is showing the whole picture. But we can slice and dice this until we are blue in the face. In the end, I think winning 9-10 games a year shows consistency to maintain a program to get back to the elite level. It can't last forever and the big score losses need to end. Next year will truly tell us where we stand from an improvement standpoint.
  21. I don't get this SEC is so great BS that keeps coming up. The SEC as a whole is no more dominant than the other conferences. They have had 3 dominant programs (Bama, LSU, Florida) and 1 great season (Auburn). That is not a dominant conference. I take nothing away from the Championships but it was on the backs of basically 3 schools. They have consistently 6 competitive programs each year out of 12 and a few good years thrown in once in a while by other schools. I will give that conference this: They know when to lose. They play tough games at the front of their schedule so that if there is a loss, it won't hurt as bad at the end of the year. Case in point is Alabama. They got back to #2 in the BCS after being at #4 by beating Western Carolina in week 12 Florida finished their year beating LA Layfaette and Jacksonville St and Florida State. I think the B1G needs to take notice of this and front load the schedule. Especially with a new TV deal and possible further expansion in the works.
  22. To me, this speaks volumes to the quality of our wins vs. the quality (lack thereof) of our losses. Unlike Bama, Boise and Oregon, we haven't shown much at all in the arena of winning big games, and that is what hurts the 9-win argument the most. Boise St is 11-8 against BCS AQ schools over the last 10 seasons. what is the Huskers record? While I commend Boise St in their accomplishments over the years, they are not playing the same level of competition week after week like the other 3 schools. Not really fair to compare.
  23. To me, this speaks volumes to the quality of our wins vs. the quality (lack thereof) of our losses. 24. Not really. He has to keep moving forward in the job he has. He may not get hired over there, and these kids are not signed, so some might follow him there if he went. I just don't believe Bo is that kind of person or coach
