  1. It has been winner take all in the championship for two years now (since they expanded to eight teams) The kicker is that if it had been that way three years ago in 2013, Nebraska would have won the championship and went to the NCAA's. Nebraska came through the loser's bracket that year and had to beat Indiana twice. We won the first, lost the second.
  2. You are thinking of Keanu Pinder, the 2016 recruit that recently decommited. McVeigh has signed his L.O.I and all "N" - his words.
  3. Update: Down to 3. We beat Depaul! Should know either way next week. ‏@JonRothstein 2:29 PM - 22 May 2015 Michigan transfer Max Bielfeldt told @CBSSports he has cut his list to Indiana, Iowa State, and Nebraska. Immediately eligible. #iubb ‏@Justin_Albers 2:51 PM - 22 May 2015 (Indiana reporter) Max Bielfeldt said he will take the weekend before making his decision. First time he will have a chance to discuss it with his mom.
  4. Robin Washut from HuskerOnline tweeted in response to a comment that he believed it was a "mutual decision". Robin Washut @RobinWashut · May 21 @michaelheinauer He was a 2016 commit, so no impact for this year. It was a mutual parting, IMO. Both sides are better off. Lee Barfknecht ‏@leebeeowh #huskers #bigten De-commit Keanu Pinder's stats at Hutch juco: 6.5 pts, 6.5 rebs, 20% 3-pt shooting, 62% FT shooting. I definitely think this is going to work out for the best especially with the new assistant Burno on staff.
  5. I understand the reasoning to a degree, but Erstad seems to overthink himself with the Right/Left hitting lineup cards. He needs to just start his hottest/best players and then make switches if necessary. On a pitching note, both C. Howell and Chestnut have a chance to be drafted late. Do they stay or go? (Last year it was a little more clear that both Kelly and Bummer were going to get drafted and go - the same next year with Boldt and Burkamper)
  6. I thought it was a very telling sign that Erstad started Dilday instead of Darby on Saturday. Before the rain out, Dilday was 2-2 but was part of that flubbed play that resulted in a run. It will be interesting to see which way Erstad goes. Hopefully Schreiber's back is better, he gives us much needed power (or at least a chance for it).
  7. I can't decide which way to lean, he is by far the best immediate transfer option that has visited so far. However, if he chooses Nebraska that means no chance for Dickerson or Nwankwo (Just released from his LOI from Minnesota --6-10 Center) as we'd be out of scholarships.
  8. Standings Update - w/ Penn State losing today, we just need Minnesota to lose one and we're guaranteed a conference tournament spot regardless of if we win a game or not. We'll have to wait at least a day to see if that happens. Minnesota Baseball @GopherBaseball · 4h 4 hours ago SCHEDULE ALERT: No game today. Doubleheader vs. Michigan State Friday with games at 2:05 and 6:05.
  9. In the article, it does clearly state that he is going to continue to take official visits to other schools, just to make sure he made the right decision. Makes sense, however it will be interesting to see if the early commitment holds.
  10. Yep, one win to clinch Big Ten Tournament spot. Or a MN loss, which is more likely! And a Penn State loss - if they sweep Purdue (which is very possible) and we get swept, they are the 8. I think we have the tie breaker over both MN & Penn St. Penn St. is 3 behind us and MN is 2. We do have the tiebreaker on MN based on head to head (2-1). With respective sweeps, because Penn State had a game rained out, they would have a record of 9-14 and Nebraska would have a record of 9-15. Penn State would have a better record. They would be #8.

  12. Time to dream big if the above news is true -- other news from today: Winston Neal @CoachNeal · 3h 3 hours ago 2015 ESPN Top 50 big man Noah Dickerson (Monteverde) has asked for his release from Florida. @NDickerson41
  13. Why do you say/ where did you read that? Personally I think it would be better to open up the scholarship, around 6-9 pts and 6 rebounds for the season last year. (He did start performing better later in the year, but still) We can do better.
  14. It was reported today that Ostrander from the volleyball team will be joining the women's basketball team after that season is over. I'm surprised that this doesn't happen more with senior football players going to play basketball. Indiana basketball (who was size-challenged last year) did have a TE join them last year. Just for kicks, considering Nebraska will be size-challenged as well, are there / who would be a good candidates from the football team? Most may not have the height, but at least they would be built to body the post. They would have to be seniors and probably not be trying out for the NFL. (They wouldn't risk injury if that was the case) I was thinking maybe Zach Sterup. Any others come to mind?
  15. He has more than double the turnovers than Armstrong last year. Anytime I saw a Notre Dame game, he was fumbling/throwing an interception. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/12841334/quarterback-everett-golson-transferring-notre-dame-fighting-irish "Last year Golson led the Irish to a 6-0 start before they lost at Florida State on a last-minute offensive pass interference call. The Irish then dropped five of their next six games with Golson finishing with 22 turnovers on the season. In the regular-season finale against USC, Golson was benched in the 49-14 loss."
  16. Also, the up tempo offense we can now run with Hunter...and her connection with the Middles. So I'm not a lot more than a casual VB fan. I follow the Huskers pretty closely but don't really get the intricacies. Can you fill me in on this because it doesn't make sense to me. What's the difference and why would we be able to use it with one setter and not another? It's basically the speed the ball comes out of the setter's hands. Middle hitters usually benefit from a faster tempo/set because the block doesn't have time to setup. It is very much like a quarterback's throwing speed. Some quarterbacks just have the knack to throw with more speed and still maintain accuracy. Pollmiller did improve her set speed, but just has a naturally slower release. Just like anything, sometimes you sacriface accuracy for speed, but Hunter (so far) seems to have both.
  17. Headley in the two spot that is interesting and a first this year. Hopefully this will get him out of his long slump.
  18. Hopefully, Burkamper can get back to form. He hasn't pitched terrible by any means, but his last two starts have been each about 3 innings.
  19. Here is an interview that Harriman gave on the radio today on why he left and good state of the Nebraska program. His comments about Pitchford were the most interesting. Basically that Pitchford wasn't engaged and didn't take coaching / teaching to post up all season. He called his decision to quit basketball and then instead go to the draft, "bizarre". http://www.theticketfm.com/gaskins-stephens/chris-harriman-former-nebraska-basketball-assistant/
  20. Lee B. from the OWH made some good points today in regards to the Harriman departure. Most people think of Harriman as a good recruiter (maybe our best that was on staff), but when you analyze the recruits that he has brought in that may not be the case. Webster - not doing as well as expected Serge V. - Never worked out / showed any D1 ability McVeigh - To be determined - but a project in his words. Pinder (recruit for 2016) averaged 6 points and 6 rebounds in Junior College last year Lee thinks this might be a good way to get a recruiting upgrade and Miles may have been more on board with the move than initially thought. Here's the snippet from The Bottom Line: A very, very good 15 minutes from @leebeeowh on Chris Harriman's departure and #B1G topics. https://social.newsinc.com/media/json/69017/28934364/singleVideoOG.html?type=VideoPlayer%2FDefault&widgetId=2&trackingGroup=69017&videoId=28934364#.VTj4JyFsEV8
  21. The only other one that has been mentioned so far is: Providence transfer Tyler Harris (he has Neb in his Top 10) *He wants to have all the coaches from his Top 10 do in-house visits with him and then he'll decide where to take his officials. So let's hope we have an unknown Plan C.
  22. Edwards tweeted, "Visit went pretty good" Not exactly a glowing recommendation, but maybe I'm just reading to much into it.
  23. Is it through Saturday? It would be good if he gets to the see the Spring Game and 60,000+ fans in the stadium.
  24. The Rating Percentage Index, commonly known as the RPI, is a quantity used to rank sports teams based upon a team's wins and losses and its strength of schedule.
  25. IMO, there is no way that Parker leaves, even with Watson and T. Smith, we still will need a defensive stopper. He is no worse off than when it was Biggs and Webster, and everyone thought he was in the same spot at the start of last year. He'll find his minutes. Hammond will at least give it one more year, he was supposed to redshirt this year anyway so I don't think he was expecting to much. Give him the off season to get in the weight room and develop. I do agree that Fuller is possibility though. I would possibly put Webster in before the other two, however, if Petteway leaves, you'd think he would feel good about getting minutes. (Unless he decides he wants to play for his National Team on the pro level.)
