  1. The vast majority of people wake up in a capitalistic society with a job that they love doing or tolerate and that job pays them and puts food on their table and allows their families to do what they want. If they have a job offer that is better and pays better, they may take it, not all do. This even includes a lot of business owners. This is not describing the "love of money" or any type of nefarious act or feelings towards money that would go against Christian values. Heck, a lot of people take a portion of that money and do great things with it for other people. Just because people have a job that they earn money and they use that money to feed themselves and do things fun, doesn't mean this is against Christianity.
  2. I think Ron Brown is an amazing guy that many kids have benefited by him making their lives better both on and off the field. This incident is a stain on his legacy. But, I won't let it diminish my thoughts of him and what he has meant to kids coming through the program.
  3. I agree with this. I think many people do things because of how it makes them feel, without regard for how it affects others or how it's viewed by others. Example: I give a talk to the local seniors every year about what employers are looking for. One of the topics that I'm always asked is my views on tattoos and body piercings. My answer always is, it doesn't matter my views of it. I might think you coming in all tatted up with spikes coming out of your ears, nose and tongue is the coolest thing in the world. But, if someone walking in off the street is turned off by it and has a negative view of my company because of it, you aren't going to get a job working here and dealing with the public. What you do matters. There are always a few in the crowd that look at me like I just kicked their dog. People NEED to understand that our actions and the view the outside world sees of us....matters. And, if you do something with one though in mind but everyone else views it totally different.....well.....the problem is usually how YOU view it.
  4. I would say that it is wrong to assume that everyone who flies this flag is inherently racist. Many may just be ignorant as to how others view it. That doesn't make them racist.
  5. Sure they do. But, I don't think it's worth American's lives and trillions of dollars to force it on them. If a population doesn't fight and come together to promote democracy in their country themselves, it's a recipe for disaster and that's what we have seen in those countries. The freedom it gives them, also allows the worst of the worst to rise to power and control, through force, people who want to live in peace.
  6. He's basically guaranteeing the feds raise rates to prove they are independent from Trump.
  7. There are lots of variances of why people fly the confederate flag. Someone sitting in Kentucky or Georgia or Louisiana very well might view it as part of their heritage. Some have convinced themselves it's a symbol of their fight against the federal government and state's rights. Someone sitting in Nebraska or Iowa might do it because it makes them feel rebellious against governmental authority. Some ignorant SOBs probably still do it in those areas claiming it's part of their heritage even though their state was fighting against it (or not even formed yet). However, I have yet to find someone who flies that flag and at the same time argues for equality and tolerance of various groups in the US. So, weather it's conscious or unconscious, there's a lot of 'isms tied to the flag that draws people to it.
  8. That’s the million dollar question.
  9. I really don't agree with this. There are one heck of a lot of people who are successful in capitalism that don't wake up in the morning with the extreme desire to go see how much money they can hoard.
  10. So, if they aren't BFFs then next step....nuclear war.
  11. Two security councils?? Does she mean our intelligence community and theirs working together?
  12. The problem with how Trump and the Republicans look at healthcare is that if any small thing is wrong with something...F'ing cut the whole damn thing out. It's like having a wart on your toe so you amputate the entire leg. They don't look at anything intellectual enough to actually think about how to fix the problem.
  13. For the most part I agree with you. However, collectively, as individuals we need to sometimes support programs that help out everyone including the poor. An example is healthcare. Individually, I can do absolutely nothing to help a poor person pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer treatment or a heart surgery (that should cost a tenth of that). We as Christians should have our compassion in mind when we vote for our representatives. Voting for someone who does nothing but promise to lower your taxes and give you your money back and cut social programs......is not the compassion Christ meant. Christ would support a healthy debate in society about how it's best to have a safety net for the poor.
  14. You're right. Another thing that I wish people close to him would knock him over the head with is the quote that he keeps spewing that relations with Russia has never been worse than what it is now. It's like the guy has absolutely no concept of history.
  15. Most of the time when I watch a PGA event, I sit there saying to myself....dang it would be fun to play that course. Especially the Majors. Not so much with this one. Looks like a dried up pasture.
  16. Now, that will be interesting to watch. This offense gets speed in space. JD, with his speed, should be able to have a lot of yards after catch.
  17. MAYBE...when he says "and others" he is secretly signaling to investigators to look deeper into his campaign. Donald Jr. actually is the one that has dirt on him and Trump is scared of him.
