  1. Hey...they are outlawing the confederate flag. If you don't believe me, just check out my Facebook friend's posts.
  2. firstly, if you really believe that, then you underestimate the intelligence of some liberals secondly the p\OP was SARCASM Ummmm....no, nobody is saying just taking down that flag is all of a sudden going to stop racism. And, even if you can find someone that said that, it would be such an extreme minority that they should be ignored.
  3. Personally, I love the move to the B1G and would never want to go back to the Big 12. Even though I like where we are at, i do feel we are kind of in a transition period in the conference. We are too big to play everyone in reasonable number of years. But, we aren't really big enough to have two clear cut divisions that play in a championship without the possibility of a rematch. Therefore, i could see a scenario with 20 teams that I would like. I could see the pod system as mentioned above. That gives us even more variety in games played than we have now. Potentially, we would have 8-9 teams that are different from the previous year. I would like that. I could also just see two 10 team divisions with 9 conference games and the only cross division game would be the CCG. This would have the feel of the old Big 8 but the benefits of a larger conference with TV deals and a CCG. Then, if more conferences go to the 20 teams, we sort of automatically have added a good scenario for the first round of the playoffs. The CCG.
  4. This is one of the smartest things the SEC has ever done and it's so subtle that most people don't even realize it. They schedule big conference games in the first couple of weeks. The winner of that game, gets so hyped up because they knocked off XYZ SEC juggernaut while the rest of the world is playing South East Arkansas State. So, that team gets immediately inflated to top 5 rankings. Meanwhile, late in the year, the world realizes this "juggernaut" wasn't really that much of a juggernaut but by that time it's forgotten that this is what elevated the team originally. They then play a bunch of patsies at the end of the season to make sure that top 5 team doesn't lose late. Also, for the team that loses that early game, the rest of the season can be used to climb back up. I personally would love Nebraska to go to this type of scheduling simply because so often, 3 out of the first 4 weekends of the year are such yawners of games and by week 5 we still have no clue what our team is like. This year, we do have two games early (BYU and Miami) that are good tests.
  5. Well first of all, nobody thinks "banishing the confederate battle flag" is going to end racism. So....I couldn't get past that point to take the rest of the post seriously.
  6. Hmmm....bigger question. How can someone be married to someone and not already know this about them?
  7. It is just the new shiny toy...you know how it goes. The new "thing" is better. That sure seems like the issue to me. The new guy is always better than what we have. I personally am really excited about the RBs on our roster right now. I think we have some extremely talented players that were overshadowed by AA. Now that they have the opportunity to be "the guy", I think we are going to be very pleasantly surprised as to what we have. And, I'm excited to possibly get this kid too.
  8. OK....First, I really hope we get him (it's sounding like we did). You can never have too many stud athletes like this. However, I'm scratching my head on the people predicting that he is going to make an immediate impact. We have currently: 2012 Cross 3,3,4,3 star 2013 Taylor 3,4,3,4 star 2013 Newby 4,4,4,4 star 2014 Wilbon 4,4,3,3 star 2015 Ozigbo 3,3,3,3 star Now, I know Stevenson is 4,4,4,4 star. But, we have all these very talented backs who have been in the program, weight room...etc. and some have college playing experience already. Obviously he is a very talented player. But, he has some pretty good competition to pass before he sees major playing time as a true freshman. PS...I know I haven't seen many (if any) predicting this on this thread. But, over the weekend I remember seeing some media people with tweets saying he could be a major impact player this fall.
  9. I know and I read those articles instead of Dirk's. My comments were about why I didn't like Dirk at the time.
  10. What else do you want?Uhh.. An actual new design? Kind of thought that was evident with my post... Either go all out or don't do it. This tepid slight change-up stuff is boring. OK...we normally have a red and white color scheme and a helmet that hasn't changed in decades. The alternates are black with red numbers and a charcoal colored pattern on the jersey. And, this isn't a "new design"? This was just a "slight change up"? Exactly. He must want the entire color pallet introduced into the uniform. The helmet is complete different design from last years two tone helmet. The only thing I see similar is the N incorporated on the pants in the stripes.Uhh, is everyone being intentionally dense? A slight change-up from last year's alternates, not our regular unis. They've swapped a couple colors and voila! If you seriously can't see that it's last years unis with a fresh coat of paint, I don't know what to say, other than your powers of observation are seriously lacking. No, I just don't care as much as you apparently. It's a uniform. Because I'm a prima donna Project Runway fashionista. That sound about right? Look, I'm not even saying they look bad. They're actually my favorite of our true alternates. But they should have just got it right and used these last year. It's not like the different colors took them a year to come up with. Having essentially the same thing is a bit underwhelming and takes minimal work to come up with. What? Last year's was all rex with a duel color helmet and duct tape numbers. This year is all black with a pattern on the jersey. The Henry has a stripe. So....I guess changing everything is not changing much.
  11. My issue is more that I have no desire to constantly read negativity about the program I love. There are always also positive stories.
  12. One time I saw Tom Brady and Peyton Manning do some dumb stuff. And this one time at band camp....................sh#t happens..... It does. It was one example. But I'd like to see any other example of any other QB throwing to a receiver that was five yards out of bounds. Even in high school. I've seen it many many times. Sorry if I don't have specific examples. I guess I didn't realize it was such a rarity that I needed to document it for future debates. Typically there then is a discussion as to if the WR was pushed out of bounds by the DB or if he ran out on his own. Throw to a guy who is out of bounds when the ball gets there? Yes. Throw to a guy who is already well out of bounds before you throw it? Not so much. Connor Cook to Tony Lippett against the Huskers last year. Daniel Davie goes down, Jonathan Rose comes in and get's burnt immediately. Lippett goes out of bounds but Cook throws it anyway right over the top. Lippett was well out of bounds by the time Cook saw him and let the ball go. Turns out Lippett was shoved out of bounds so the score counted. There's one example of a QB throwing the ball to a guy who already well out of bounds. I think the fact that you're having to reach this much is pretty telling that you are not attempting to understand the point. So....you ask for examples, he gives one and that's not what you wanted? No, I want a play that is reasonably similar to what I'm describing. You two apparently refuse to acknowledge how far Westerkamp was out of bounds when TA threw it too him. As in, there were opponents on the sideline closer to the playing field than Westerkamp was. Lippett not only wasn't out of bounds when he caught the pass but it was a legal play and he scored a touchdown. So now, that is not an example of what I'm talking about. It's not even close. Can you tell me what game this was in?

  14. I dunno. I was one of those who had a problem with what Dirk wrote about Pelini back then. Because Pelini was our current coach. Even if the things Dirk said back then were true (and they probly were), it doesn't help our program out to tear it down. But I have no problem about Dirk slinging mud at Pelini now. I know, I know, it's a double standard. I just think we should show some deference to the current guy is all. But the *previous* guy, well, he's fair game. Well said. My biggest problem with Dirk wasn't that he wrote something negative. It was that it seemed like he very very seldom would write something positive. Even if someone hated Bo and thought a change needed to be made, there are still positive things going on around the program that can be written about. It was like he went through a period that all he could think about was how to rip on Bo. I will say this, he is a very good writer and I have liked some of the things he has put out since the change. I just wish he could have included some of those while Bo was here too.
  15. I don't understand the thought of black doesn't represent the school well. I know it's not an "official" school color. But, don't we have a unit on the team affectionately called the "Blackshirts"?
  16. Maybe they should just play naked. Stripes would be too wavy on the linemen.
  17. The contradictory view points of the uniforms just in this thread shows that no matter what Adidas (or whomever makes them) is not going to win. There will always be complaints. We have people who think they tried doing too much. We have people who think its a "lazy design". Which, I take meaning they did too little. We have people who hate the charcoal color. We have people who wish they would have gone with Grey (Isn't the charcoal color a sort of grey?) We have people who like the all black. We have people who wish we would have gone with white pants. etc..... It's a uniform. I think it represents the program very well and it's very different than our traditional uniforms and that's good for an alternate uniform.
  18. I like the cleats. I think they look great.
  19. Hell...NO!!!! Anyone who even considers going back to the Big XII should be hung in the town square at noon.
