  1. This deserves a few of these: Former Trump Aide's Fiancee Warns White House: ‘A Lot To Come’ Yahoo summary and above quote https://www.yahoo.com/news/former-trump-aide-apos-fiancee-050515795.html full story https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/george-papadopoulos-is-the-john-dean-of-the-russia-investigation-his-fiancee-says/2018/01/22/8e47b016-ff4d-11e7-9d31-d72cf78dbeee_story.html?utm_term=.a8f0f6a56c1e https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/papadopoulos-fiancee-speaks_us_5a669c71e4b0e5630072d8a5
  2. Guy, what names should the dems put forward in 2020 in your opinion. Who is progressive enough wtout being seen as a wild eye liberal that could move the ball more towards 'true moderate'?
  3. I think it is a sign of dementia - despite what his doctor said. That was a pretty bad slip of the tongue - saying birth instead of abortion. What are the first sign of dementia? Subtle short-term memory changes. Trouble with memory can be an early symptom of dementia. ... Difficulty finding the right words. ... Changes in mood. ... Apathy. ... Difficulty completing normal tasks. ... Confusion. ... Difficulty following storylines. ... A failing sense of direction.
  4. Yes, us fans can get 'greedy' with their lives and forget that they have lives to live beyond the game. We think of all of the extra championships they could have, would have, should have won if they only coached a few more years. In the meantime, the time is slipping away for their family, etc. And it is better to leave on top as Bob, Tom and Madden did. I have a KSU friend here at work - while he so admires Bill Snyder he sooooo much wants him to retire now or yesterday. But he believes Snyder will work until he dies - he did the retirement thing once and now he is back. Unfortunately, in time Bill may be forced out and not be able to leave the way he wants to. Like Paterno, he runs the risk of loosing the program as players want to play for coaches they know will be around for a while.
  5. I'm pretty excited by the skilled guys we are getting on O right now. We need a dominant pass rusher and a dominant OL.
  6. Yes pretty bad optics and even worse judgment.
  7. This is a large portion of the article:
  8. This is just unbelievable. Sheriff Joe saying Flake's anti Trump speech was near treasonous. You know, if you speak against the leaders of Iran, that may be treason, If you speak against the leader of NK that would be treasonous and you would be taken out by a anti-tank missile or poison. If you spoke out against Stalin in the former Soviet Union, that would be treasonous and you would have been sent to Siberia for life at best or killed immediately (maybe that would be 'best' after thinking about Siberia ) However speaking out against the president of the USA is a 'right' in this country and is a sign of political liberty - of healthy free speech. And in today's political climate, flaky Sheriff Joe may win the race. The brown shirt mentality has sneaky ways of in-filtering our society. This is an example. https://www.newsmax.com/politics/joe-arpaio-jeff-flake-trump-stalin-speech-treasonous/2018/01/18/id/838034/ "
  9. Knapp - I don't disagree wt those #s at all. It is unfortunate. Is it hero worship? - I don't think so. I think it is 2 camps scratching each other's back - Trump uses the evangelical vote to gain and keep power (he needed their votes to win) by dishonestly speaking their language (TWO Corithians) and doing their 'bidding' and the evangelicals taking advantage of this opportunity to address long held grievances through an unlikely channel - As someone said if God can use a donkey (Balaam's) in the Bible, God can use this a..
  10. I believe in heaven and an afterlife for all. I think the 'hell' will be separation from God - the hell torment being the forever 'lostness' of separation from God. I understand and am tempted to believe in universalism because of one attribute of God that is always highlighted is His love. Yet I understand that love involves choice. Love doesn't force someone to love them. If a person chooses not to love God he has separated himself from God. This separation will continue into eternity. At the same time I believe in God's holiness and that none of us are good enough to be in his presence for eternity outside of forgiveness through Christ. Ultimately, I believe in God's grace - which tells me it is not for me to judge who is in what 'camp'. God looks on the heart and our words often betray what are heart speaks in silence. Grace trumps doctrine - doctrine is just our way of finding our spiritual 'feet'. I think many of us may have 'wrong'' heads(including and esp me) but 'right' hearts and I suspect heaven will be more 'crowded' then many expect due to God's grace.
  11. Knapp - no to the Christian hero thing. It is one thing to pray for the president as we are encouraged to do - pray for kings and all in authority so that we might live peaceful lives - as the Apostle Paul tells his disciple Timothy in 1Timothy2:1-3 - and it is another thing to not have the discernment to know that you are being used by the deceiver in chief for his own ends wt those photo ops. While Trump can be commended for standing up for religious liberties, it is duplicity for him to do so when on the other hand he pushes down the rights of others and/or gives equal 'balance' to hate groups to get their message out. This tells me that at his core he is hollow and his verbiage to promote religious liberties is opportunistic at best.
  12. Appropriate - I guess that Dog didn't eat his work records - a tornado did!
  13. Maybe the flag with the funny looking "x" on it from the 1930s
  14. So the question remains - why did Bob retire when he did from HC?
  15. OK Let's say Tom is the best coach to have ever coached at a non-recruiting hotbed place like the MidWest, Mtn West, etc. And I too don't believe Saban, Myers, Bear etc could have accomplished at NU what Tom did. Only one coach comes to mind who could have replicated Tom's results or exceeded it: that would be the BobFather Devaney. He is another one that could have been in this 'all time discussion' if he had coached beyond age 52 ( I think that was his age when he left the HC job and moved to AD - by the way - why did he make that move?? ) He may have made Switzer just a footnote in OUs coaching records.
  16. Dude, I agree wt you 100%. Again the article I posted is pretty much a red meat Obama hit piece that at the same time lifts up Trump. Honest FAIR AND BALANCED media would take the information & present it first and then allow us to draw conclusions 1st. As you noted, they have a conclusion and build the superstructure around it. And if we can throw in some anti-obama to beef up that superstructure and get an emotional buy in from it - then you have captured your audience. Your last paragraph is why I'm a Never Trumper and again believe the good the admin accomplishes is in spite of Trump. 2 big picture concerns I have and they aren't directly tied to policy as policy can change. If Dem Senator Harris becomes the next President, she will change a lot of the policy once again. However Trump's affect is more than policy 1. The image of the Presidency - Trump is building the office into a mini dictatorship. His anti-media fake news rants, his demeaning of his opponents, his endorsement by silence or delayed action of the alt-right, and general vulgarness, lowers the office and the respect it deserves. While other presidents haven't lived up to the high standard of the office (Clinton, Nixon and others through the ages), Trump has taken us to a new level of low. Presidents should inspire us towards our greatest good and aspirations. Trump does the opposite and re-enforces many of the negatives in our society. This in turns lowers our expectations for the office if allowed to continue. In 2020 we need to reject this type of non-leadership. If it takes a Dem to straighten it out - so be it. The republican ruling class has failed to reign in Trump and his antics and thereby forfeit their right to maintain leadership. 2. International image and prestige - One can argue back and worth about the 'fairness' of the Paris Treaty but I believe it is a failure of leadership to withdraw from it. His non-leadership on the issue reflects his lack of conviction on the issue. If you believe the opposite of the Treaty's goals - then vigorously state it, defend it and lead to change the goals. Don't take your ball and run home with it. Lead. He can criticize Obama's "Red line in the sand" but he has essentially done the same thing wt this issue. He doesn't have to agree wt the other side, but we expect him to lead. Global leadership is about compromise in many aspects. You don't always get what you want (as his convention song after his acceptance speech stated - how ironic was that). The way he is handling NAFTA, TPP, etc isn't leadership. He is suppose to be a great negotiator but he isn't proving it with his non-global leadership. While I agree with his desire to recognize Jerusalem as the Israel capital - I disagree wt the timing. If he was wanting to negotiate a Middle East peace agreement, Jerusalem should have been held as a chip to be played and not a hammer to hit prior to negotiations. So while Trump fails to lead - I see the rise of the Chinese PM filling in the gap. That surely isn't in our best interest.
  17. That Nick Gates video is hard to watch. They really weren't teaching any skills were they. Gates is one of the biggest coaching fails when it comes to Freshman potential to Senior results
  18. I'm thinking more and more that there is design in our universe - thus an ultimate Designer behind it. When we look at macro issues like how the universe operates and planets and stars related to each other (See the Privilege Planet book) or we look at micro issues of how each cell of our body is its own unique 'factory' - one sees design and functionality everywhere. I believe the Biblical story of creation is a general way of explaining that and that days are 'periods of time' epochs if you will. So, I believe in Intelligent Design but it taking place over time. I don't believe that the Bible and Science are in opposition as is so often painted. Now, one's interpretation of the Bible may oppose science. There have been religious leaders in the past who believe the earth was the center and the sun rotated around it. Then science proves it otherwise. However there are Bible verses that speak of the earth going around the sun in confirmation of science. The Bible doesn't present itself as a science text but as a love story between God and Man and God's pursuit of man. God reveals what he chooses to reveal - we see through a glass dimly. But it isn't just the theologian who sees through the glass dimly. The scientist also - moving from one theory to another to a final conclusion as more understanding is gained. Personally, I believe that God grants us a revelation of truth - science being one - that evolves over time for the carrying out of his purposes at that time. If I believe in God, and I do, and I believe in science, and I do - I therefore must believe in the ongoing revelation of truth - for as someone said "All Truth is God's Truth". My understanding and interpretation may have to adjust according to the on going revelation.
  19. Respect. While we have our loyalties, respect for the job done has to be given. My loyalty is with Tom but my head says Saban has surpassed him. There are many reasons why I'd prefer to build a team around Tom but if the only criteria is NC, then I'd have to go wt Saban. Now I could argue that Tom's top 3 or 4 teams could probably beat all of Saban's teams but then that would be comparing different eras and that is a fruitless exercise.
  20. Years ago when I worked for GE, I had the opportunity to transfer to Fresno (they also wanted me to consider LA) No regrets on LA. Fresno isn't exactly my favorite spot either but it is close to my favorite spots - sort of close. Maybe living on the Nevada side - Reno might be cheaper than the Calif side of the line.
  21. Yes, if Calf wasn't so expensive to live in, it would be my first choice - beach, forest, big trees and the most beautiful mtns anywhere ( I love Colorado but Yosemite and Lake Tahoe just take your breath away). This may gain momentum while the republican control congress and the WH. Regarding the Map - I'm thinking San Jose should be in the blue. I guess the yellow wants if for the high tech tax.
  22. I too am thinking we will beat Mich but I also think we will upset Wisc, OSU or MSU. I just think Frost will have this team motivated to play like we haven't seen in years. The Bo teams were so fragile emotionally and MR teams were so unsure of themselves - real coaching and real motivation will equal what appears at the time to be an upset but in retrospect it won't be. As always the OL will be the key and I trust our award winning S&C coach will make the difference as well as the new OL coach actually teaching these guys. I like the JUCOs we are getting and I expect new energy on D.
