  1. That is great to hear. Would love to see better tackling on the field. It showed in the bowl game.
  2. Kind of feels like the missed calls in our 1993 orange bowl game against FSU http://www.ajc.com/sports/college/was-fixed-conspiracies-abound-over-alabama-win-over-georgia/ZpqErf1E5xuuzoi49190II/
  3. Yes I like that option. I think it is even better than absentee ballots when it comes to security. I'd rather spread it out 2 days when people don't have work, school and a host of so many other distractions to get in the way. Weekend or a 2 day National Holiday when everyone can be off one of those days would be best.
  4. Everyone, my first ? is - how do you find the time to read all of these and 'follow' them. I don't think you all are retired and sipping a cool one on the beach - Unless you are a internet junkie, how do you absorb it all and not get stir crazy!! I'm trying to build my twitter list but I want to keep it disciplined to a few otherwise I'd be on it all day. If you were to organize it into categories like Zoogs and Dude have done, what would be your top 2 in each category? (Might include Husker sports as a non political one, maybe a religion category if you choose. )
  5. The graph has Bernie Sanders basically in the middle - the moderate of all moderates. Kind of hard to believe the graph is valid. I also find it hard to believe that Gary Johnson is a hard right - by this graph he could be a member of the alt-right. So it would be better to supply some number's and facts behind this.
  6. Which brings up the point of moderation. When I think of conservative govt - I think of efficiency - cutting waste and wasteful programs. If we get the compassion of progressives to lock hands wt the Tom Coburn (my former senator) types who hate inefficient, wasteful govt - we'd be getting some place. Wasteful govt can be led by either parties - they just have different beneficiaries of the waste.
  7. ^^^ If he really knew they had the goods on him before hand and that he could only claim 5th amendment defense, He may desire to resign under guise of sickness vs falling under the pressure of a prosecutor. Or he may go in c$%k sure of himself and get slammed to the floor .... which is the more likely outcome.
  8. What was the book title? You are right that today's conservatives or should I say republicans don't know how to govern. When the extremes grab either political philosophy (conservative, liberal, libertarian) I think we end up wt a distortion that doesn't work. It seems like everything cycles but the cycles have been tighter in the past 20 years or so. We go from progressive Clinton, to conservative GWB, to progressive Obama, to opportunist Trump.
  9. Yes, and Flynn realized he needed to throw in the towel and cooperate. Flynn knew they had him and what they have him tied with probably applies to Trump.
  10. seems like the trap is being set. Mueller knows what he knows, Trump doesn't. One false statement and we have 'wack a mole' - Trump would be done.
  11. If arson, could also be a message sent to other Moore accusers. A lot of hate after the lost election.
  12. Yes, if you have to TELL people you are smart, you probably aren't. If you have to tell people you are a genius, you probably aren't. It would be evident without saying. I don't think Einstein had to remind people how smart he was. You are probably Narcissistic at best, and mentally ill at worst (which is also true of narcissistic personality disorder)
  13. Agree - I should have clarified - the space is created when the #s are overwhelming- you get QB,RB, pulling Guard coming towards a LB and DE and they have to choose - which allows the QB or RB to get the space needed - isolate the defender and the ball goes to the RB or stays wt the QB or surprisingly QB pulls up and throws a pass.
  14. I was thinking of that also. I have a KSU fan in my office and he predicted a big KSU win. He was shell shocked when i saw him on Monday. He couldn't believe all of the yards. But to me I think TM's biggest game was the shootout against Okla State in Stillwater in 2010 won by NU 51-41. I was there and it was amazing. OSU was expecting TM to be all run but in that game he surprised everyone with his passing. OSU was very talented (WR Blackman, Brandon Weeden QB being just two of the NFL guys) and I believe only lost to NU that year maybe OU. That game was also highlighted by the kickoff knockout by one of our players' hit on a OSU player (can't remember our player - DE Williams?? - just leveled the OSU player and was later suspended by the league for a game). So this was TM's coming out party as a dual threat QB - we knew he had legs, now he showed it wt his arm. Unfortunately, I don't believe he ever repeated this dual feat again to this degree. Passing was always an 'adventure' for TM and those of us watching him pass. http://dataomaha.com/huskers/history/game/2010-10-23-oklahoma-state
  15. The bold: I know the feeling. One could argue that Osborne did more with less than Saban and Meyer. Yes he (Tom) had a lot of talent but he also built the program on walk ons, and a lot of 3 star linemen. Part of coaching is development and not game day coaching. Tom was top in regards to development - the S&C program, the walk ons, the 5th year linemen- pipeline building, etc. Yes we had talent but he had to work harder then Saban or Meyer ever had to in order to get those talented skilled players. If you haven't noticed, we aren't in the recruiting hotbed. Besides that - he has sustained success at 1 school for 25 years. That is unheard of. He was an offensive genius ahead of his time as well. A lot of what we see with today's spread and zone read offenses is built on isolation - getting the player in space - Tom did that wt the triple option and ran it to perfection. These are reasons I think Tom was the best coach. Being the best coach is about winning the most NC - so many other things involved. Besides I believe he got screwed out of the NC in 82 and 93 and was so close 2 or 2 other times. I still think if he had coached another 5-7 years he would have added 1-3 more. But all of that goes to sustained success. Tom was close so many times while most coaches have or wish for that one flash in the pan year.
  16. Agree with Job # 1 Get better in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Hopefully we will see a marked difference next year with S&C coach and new coaching. If we can put together half of a running game (this past year was a disaster) the O will be OK. I don't expect a # 1 scoring O next year but I think we will see marked improvement. The D needs strength and speed. S&C coach as a job waiting on him.
  17. ^^^ I always dreaded a passing play that isolated our linebackers on anyone - WR or RB - we were way to slow. The same hold true to those double stacked WR lateral passes - we hardly ever stopped those well Speed is the answer.
  18. So is SUR a precursor to a run in 2020??
  19. I'll wait for the video. I don't want ESPN's ratings to go up by pushing NU fans there to watch. I hope the ratings are a disaster as this playoff has frozen out 3/4 of the country. This should be called "All South Championship" not Nat'l Championship. As a non-sooner fan living in Tulsa - as least the sooners weren't apart of the 'neighborhood' of bama, Georgia, SC - but they failed to knock off one of the SEC teams when they had the chance.
  20. Yes, I'm not hung up on the star system. Get guys wt passion to play and a great coach can coach them up. Wt a new S&C coach, I expect improvement there alone to move the players performance up a level as well. We cannot underestimate its affect - SF gave a lot of credit for UCF's success to the conditioning program. They finished very strong in that Auburn game.
  21. I just look forward to getting back to the words of Tom Osborne vs Miami 1994 para phrased here - 'We'll win the game in the forth quarter. We are the stronger more conditioned. They will be tired and will lose their cool and will draw personal foul penalties at a critical points in the game." It will be nice to be fresh & strong in the fourth qtr. Of course that means also having reserves ready to play as well.
  22. Vote and comment on your current confidence in the Football program and specifically on recruiting, and what you believe will be the style of play that we will see on offense and defense My take: before the game and watch UCF give up big #s to USF and Memphis - I had my doubts about the D. While I liked the idea of it being an 'attacking' 3-4 it was still a 3-4 and the MR version of 3-4 left a very bad taste in my mouth. Then you add up those USF and Memphis scores and bit of trembling came to my knees. However the bowl game turned me around and here is why. Auburn plays more like Big 10 teams. Methodical on offense. UCF was in a Big 10 type game wt Auburn. This actually played in the D's hands. It gives the D time to rest while the O is on the field. The D wasn't spread out like they have to be against USF and Memphis. The AAC is known to be a high scoring conference and that isn't saying there is no good D. It means that fast scoring games like the AAC has places the D on the field more often. UCF showed that it could play a slower tempo game and still score (had missed opportunities in the 1st half) and this allowed their D time to make adjustments. Offensively, I saw that Frost's O isn't just a wild shoot out. They create mismatches and when the QB wasn't hitting his targets in the 1st half, the play calling allowed him to make up the difference with his running. They were able to play a slower game and still came up on top against a very good Auburn team. I came away more excited in the end with the D which I moved from having doubts all the way to being successful. I sure liked the aggressive attitude and the fact that the kids knew how to tackle in space. Notice how they defended that double stack WR sideline pass which we never could. I also believe the recruiting wt the new emphasis on walk-ons and adding JUCOs plus signing highly skilled kids who fit the program will enable us to build for instant and long term success.
  23. I would say these are the only ones worth mentioning at all - listed below with my comments in red. One can argue if they are accomplishments or not depending on political perspective. Tax reform and appointing Gorsuch will have long lasting affects as will the Paris climate agreement. The others are fairly superficial, hyped or just place there to get to the # 10. I agree wt tax reform in principle but I don't like much of how this one turned out. So I see it as a missed opportunity. I agree wt the Gorsuch nomination and a move towards conservative judges: # 8 hasn't been fulfilled as he hasn't moved our embassy yet, so it cannot be claimed as an accomplishment. But his announcement will have long term affects. Climate agreement withdrawal is a miss also. I think it would be better to have worked on improving the deal - if he is such a great negotiator he should have insisted that it be brought back to the table to address some of the inadequacies. The USA looses out on a leadership role by leaving the accord all together. Others criticized Obama for 'Leading from Behind", This is precisely what Trump is doing here - however he is just 'behind' (or should I say a behind). You don't walk away from important issues (more like take your ball and go home crying), you lead if you believe an issue needs to be addressed. We gave up our right to lead on this subject.
